Interaction with Guests
I have very minimal interaction with guests but I am always just a phone call away!
The neighbourhood is urban, semi residential and semi-commercial. It's a historical neighbourhood that was formerly very middle class which explains the large antique houses adorned with intricate fret-work that lines the streets.
Over the years the neighbourhood has become increasingly industrialised but still has that community vibe and city feeling.
Getting around is quite easy as cab rides to anywhere will be very affordable. You can also take public transportation from Half Way Tree road which is the nearest main road to the house.
Absolutely No smoking inside the house please.
Additional guests beyond two are $10 per night.
Air conditioning is $20 per night per night extra.
Cleaning lady and gardener come once per week to clean the house and common areas (they do not enter the rooms).
Please wash up dishes after yourself and please take out the trash.
The guava, mango and sweetsop trees were a welcome addition to our trip and the hummingbird that lingers off the porch was such a delight. The house is cute, clean, with appliances and a new refrigerator. Dennis, who looks after the maintenance on the house, was such a terrific host and a huge help. The neighborhood is a great representative of what it's like to live in central Kingston, with lots of little shops around for necessities, freshly cooked food offerings right outside the door and lots of local color - including loud music late into the night. I would suggest earplugs if you are sensitive to noise. Sealed off with a remote controlled gate, it's easy to feel very safe in the confines of the house. Close to the Bob Marley Museum, and a few other tourist attractions, our favorites were our trips to Hellshire Beach for seafood and to Port Royal Museum and Lime Cay Beach which Dennis was happy to accompany us to.
We were very happy with Tarik's house. Especially the 2 massive mango trees in the front courtyard literally dropping ripe mangoes every 30 mins. Great for your breakfast cereal!
We felt very secure and had some really enjoyable chats with folk from the local community. Everyone was very kind and welcoming.
Tarik's place was so cozy and nice! The colors are pretty and the patio was my favorite place to be! There were mango trees everywhere and a hummingbird that visited me everyday. Dealing with the the water reserve and having to turn on the hot water was a little bit hard for me to remember but once I got the hang of it, it was great!
We had a great time in Kingston. The house ist perfectly located between the two areas New Kingston and Downtown. You can reach all places by frequently buses very easily. The house is beautiful and has a lot of space, nice veranda for letting the evenings go by.
Tarik was a great host, always reachable at all times and always helpful wuth all matters we had. Highly recommended!
Tarik's place was just as described.
His house is well appointed, comfortable, spacious and with a gorgeous front garden, regularly visited by the wondrous "Doctor bird", the humming bird that is the national symbol of Jamaica.
The house is well positioned in a quiet street near to the major transport hub of "Half Way Tree", and close to lots of eateries and a couple of supermarkets.
A great touch was the provision of a cell phone for our use in Kingston, loaded with useful contacts, as Kingston is not noted for being easy to find one's way about or to access useful tourist information
Tarik made us feel very welcome, and assisted us immediatey if we had any problems.
We would certainly try to stay here again when we next visit Kingston
The house is gorgeous and charming located close to emancipation park. For the price I didn't expect anything less though. There are no window flyscreens so Mosquitos as prolific throughout the house, although the house features a kitchen there are a lot of small key things that were not available like peelers, can openers and the utensils weren't sufficient. The neighbors in the area were lovely and accommodating to us which was nice because our host Tarik did not seem to want to interact with us very much, but I take it he's a very busy man.

About the Host, Tarik
Greetings airbnb family,
I am a young easy going Social Entrepreneur that has been lucky enough to travel to a number of countries around the world. I have enjoyed the warm hospitality of ordinary people who have opened up their hostels, homes, bed and breakfasts and rooms to me in my travels.
I have a lot of experience hosting international persons here in Jamaica so I hope to contribute what I have learned from these experiences over the years to make your stay in Jamaica a better one.
I am very laid back, very open minded, physically active, I play Capoeira (Brazilian Martial Art) and I love the beach and mountain rivers.
