Interaction with Guests
I want to be flexible for our guests. I enjoy stimulating conversation but if you prefer your privacy that is okay too.
Across the street from the house is a greenway and walking path that travels across town. Guests can walk, run, bike or roller blade their way to McMinnville's downtown.
Our city is wonderful! Whether you enjoy shopping, dining, wine tasting, micro brews or just hanging out in a coffee shop, you'll love McMinnville and the surrounding area!
McMinnville is a wonderful small city. Half way between Portland and the Pacific Coast it's in the heart of Oregon wine country. It is the home to the "Spruce Goose"built by Howard Hughes and made famous in the movie "The Aviator."
Within 2 hours drive of McMinnville there are five distinct ecosystems great for exploring and hiking.
We are 2 miles from downtown McMinnville. It's a nice, but longish, walk on the public greenway and through the park.
Public transit is available but we are about 2.4 miles from the bus stop so you'll likely want your own wheels.
Other Things to Note
Bobby and Elsie are our cats. They are indoor/outdoor cats who have free range of the property. The cats will not, however, have access to your guest space. If you are allergic you'll be able to avoid them and we have air purification in the guest space for your health and safety.
A 1% state lodging tax is paid when booking. An additional 8% local lodging tax is due upon arrival made payable to the owner.
Please no smoking indoors and we do have 2 cats so please leave your pets at home.
Bill was a great host. The house was superb. The bed was soooo comfortable and the sitting area and breakfast nook was perfect. My daughter was taking a scholarship exam at Linfield and, I must admit, I am kind of hoping she will go to Linfield just so we can stay with Bill in this great house again. Loved the entry that didn't require a key. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who is not mobility impaired as there are stairs to climb to get to the rooms. We also loved going for a run down the path right in front of the house.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying with Bill for our second time. He has done more updates and included a whole area for breakfast which is fantastic. It was very clean and quiet. It was such a comfortable and wonderful experience for us, we would recommend it to anyone. We will be back in the future!
Our host was very helpful in taking our Christmas booking at such a late date. The two room set-up was generously equipped with lots of clean towels, bath toiletries, and the in-room kitchen area allowed us to make a continental breakfast and snacks. The downstairs half bath was not available as it was being refurbished. However, the house-sitter, Laura, was very gracious and the house was conveniently located for us. It is a good place for a small family that doesn't mind sharing amen suite bath.
The listing was everything we needed. The pictures are accurate, but it was even better seeing it in person. It was a great, cozy and comfortable space for us. The hosts went above and beyond in making sure our stay was comfortable. We will definitely be back.
Bill's home is welcoming, spacious and uniquely situated in one of the wondrous wine growing areas of our planet. Comfortable, cozy and extraordinarily well provisioned with health-giving fruits and foods throughout the stay, this home is within walking distance of historic and fascinating McMinnville with excellent restaurants and coffee shops. The nearby walking trail also affords delightful opposite encountering beaver near the streams and and a relaxing post pyramidal jaunt.
Unobtrusive attention and and inclusiveness characterise each stay and the location is ideal for exploration throughout the valley. Count upon warmth of heart and sincerity as well.
Thank you, yet again, for so generously accommodating us at your home where the space feels so much like our own home. Indeed, we were even able to wash pants muddied by a fall in the beautiful McMinnville AVA.
Looking so forward to our next visit, we send grateful regards, Jim and Janice
This is the place to stay in Mcminnville, period. Bill is very supportive and every detail of your stay is so well organized, you won't have any unanswered questions about your space and how it works. We stayed for 3 nights and it was a great space for us to rest in.
What a delightful experience! Bill is a marvelous host who made us feel welcome immediately. We have had several trips to the Willamette Valley and this is by far the best place we have stayed. Bill has a two-room suite for his guests. The living room is large and filled with the comforts of home. He provided a wonderful array of breakfast foods for our convenience. We enjoyed talking to Bill and felt like we were guests in a friend's home and have already reserved for next year.
Hi there! I was born and raised in the Upper Midwest (Michigan) and moved to McMinnville in 2001. I enjoy reading, food and wine, ethnic cuisine, movies, equine breeding, baseball, hockey, international travel and fishing. I love to explore new places, have new experiences and meet new friends.
I absolutely LOVE to go out for breakfast so I can share my favorite breakfast or brunch spots around the valley. I will also point you in the direction of the best Mediterranean, Persian, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, French, German and Italian food within 50 miles. If you are really sly you might talk me into revealing my favorite little hide away at the coast for wood fired pizza. It's just an hour away.
Out of doors is important to me. Whether it is fly fishing or hiking, I love the majestic creation! I love to catch a nice trout on a fly rod in a mountain lake or stream. Occasionally, I make it back to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to fly fish where I learned at my family's cabin. One day I plan to visit Alaska, New Zealand and Chile for some world-class fly fishing!
As a former State Park Ranger, I am an excellent tour guide and host. I'll help you find the perfect vineyard tasting room to enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets over the Willamette Valley. I can point you in the right direction for a beautiful drive in the mountains, toward a great hiking trail or waterfall, and tell you the best place to stand on the coast for a picture you'll enjoy the rest of your life.
When you stay I will offer pleasant conversation or give you your privacy, whichever serves you best! Welcome to my peaceful home.
