I can't say I was surprised by the quality of our stay because so many others had already said such amazing things in their reviews of the cottage and its hosts. We got exactly what we expected - a BEAUTIFUL cottage right in the middle of Ireland, close enough to visit everywhere from the center of the country, but far enough removed from everything to enjoy the country! The property was beautiful. I walked the marked forest trails around the property and the scenery was amazing. I woke each morning to have the horses whinnying at the fence beside me as I drank my coffee outside on the patio area. The hosts were amazing. Linda and John even offered to wash a load of clothes for us when the washer/dryer acted up. To be fair, it didn't act up at all. It was just us four Americans trying to wash a huge load in a machine not meant for it. John hurried right down, gave us some tips on how to use it best, and then he and Linda washed and folded all the wet laundry we had and returned it to us. They went way out of their way to be great hosts! They had great advice for landmarks to visit, and even helped me organize a horseback ride through the countryside for my wife and I on our honeymoon. They pointed us to Leap Castle and even told us to ask for the owner by name. They pointed out a great local pub and we got to meet Liam, the one-eyed bartender at the end of the road. Amazing fellow! The house is totally out in the country, but close to Birr for great food, close to Roscrea and Nenagh for great shopping, and the views around that property are simply unforgettable. We will always cherish our trip and how special it was thanks to these great hosts!

Meeting you all was a pleasure and we are sorry too that we didn't see more of you but we more than understand tight schedules etc. Many thanks again and we would love to see you back anytime. The "Old Cottage" is a step back in time with all the modern amenities including TV and Wifi. A place to hike or relax and just take in the scenery. Beauty surrounds the cottage and takes away the stress of life. The next town is just a few miles away, so shopping and restaurants are not too far off. John and Linda were great hosts and we arrived to find fresh fruit, tea, coffee and other yummy treats in the refrigerator. John came over to welcome us when we arrived and gave us some tips on what to do and where to go in the area. We would definitely recommend "The Old Cottage" for your next destination.

INCREDIBLE! My husband, his parents, his sister and I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful Irish Cottage for 4 nights. This wonderfully cozy cottage, located on a beautiful 450 acre farm allows for a local experience while exploring Ireland. The cottage was very clean and had everything you may need for your stay. We arrived to find snacks, bread, jam, coffee/tea, butter, juice, eggs and milk so that we had items for breakfast and snacking upon arrival. The cottage is located on a secluded part of the farm and is next to a beautiful pasture with horses on one side and young bulls on the other. It made for a wonderful farm experience. If your windows are open in the morning you will quietly hear the animals in the distance, and it is such a great thing to wake up to. There are two fantastic walking trails on the property that I would highly recommend for exploring the Irish countryside and each one ending with an incredible view of the surrounding area and lake. The trails are clearly marked, but they require a bit of uphill walking and some climbing over manageable obstacles but it is definitely worth the trek. Upon our arrival (early evening) we were greeted by John and Linda and John gave us the tour of the cottage. He asked if we were hungry and recommended a local pub with great food - The Thatch Pub - and called ahead to make sure they were still serving dinner and alerting them to our arrival. A favorite part of our trip was dining at the Thatch - we were lucky enough to be there on the one night of the month when a local singing circle was meeting up to sing traditional Irish songs, recite poems and tell stories. This was a genuine local experience that we will never forget. Amazing. This peaceful spot is a perfect base for exploring Ireland. We dedicated one day of our stay to walking the trails and exploring the surrounding countryside on the farm - if you have the chance to do this I would highly recommend it (you will be very happy you did)! There is a supermarket 15 minutes away for anything you may need. We traveled to Dublin (1.5 hours away), Gallway (1 hour away) and Clonmacnoise (1 hour away) while staying in Roscrae. We had the trip of a lifetime and created memories we will never forget - in large part because of our stay at this wonderful cottage. John and Linda are warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful. They respond to messages quickly and are very thorough with information. John and Linda - we cant thank you enough for the wonderful chats, the tour of the farm, your hospitality, and your beautiful cottage and farm. Sending you so much love from all of us!

John and Linda made our experience at the Old Cottage on Fairymount Farm--absolutely the best stay at any BnB--any of the four of us has ever had. The cottage was quaint, quiet and serene. It provided more than enough room for our group and our belongings. The cottage was preserved and decorated to look and feel like the 200-year-old farmhouse it is, but with modern amenities, like: hot water as needed, dish washer, clothes washer and dryer, the cleanest and freshest natural water possible, ample parking, cable tv and even wireless internet! Several towns are nearby and the location to major attractions like Limerick Town, the Ring of Kerry and Blarney Castle are very feasible during a day trip. The Kenny's anticipated our desires and needs without us even having to mention a thing. They are lovely people with an amazing plot of land right in the heart of Ireland. The Kenny's are literally sharing their little piece of heaven with you during your stay, and they genuinely want you to experience it all if you can!! The walking trails throughout the property are absolutely beautiful; safe, secure, and literally the best we saw in all of Ireland! The biking trails and the Bike Park Ireland experience was simply unbelievable. An adventure NOT to be missed by anyone who loves to mountain bike!! Thank you Graham for setting us up so nicely! The overall scenic view from the property is incredible no matter the angle. Even the stars in the clear night sky are more visible than I think I've seen in all my life. The animals we saw on the property were all beautiful and extremely tame. Every person we met during our stay here was friendly, pleasant and happy to interact with us. I simply cannot say enough good things about our wonderful stay, other than adding that we can't wait to get back. Our retreat here was exactly what our family needed to relax, recoup and enjoy the true beauty of Ireland and it's people.

My husband and I live on the other side of our 450 acre farm and have been involved in self-catering for ten years, only discovering AirBnB in the last while!

We have put our heart and soul into designing the two cottages to ensure they are clean, cosy, bright (with great views) and fully equipped with all the mod cons you need!

We are involved in farming, horse breeding, tourism and have just opened a down hill mountain bike track on our side of the farm. It is very important to us to conserve the natural beauty of our farm, making discrete pathways within and growing thousands of trees in the past decade.

We have recently travelled around New Zealand and love welcoming new people, hearing their stories and trying to make their stay here as enjoyable as possible. We'd love to hear from you, or answer any questions you may have!

We also live on the other side of the farm and would love to meet and help you with any queries on your stay!
