Charles and Kathleen were wonderful hosts for our first trip to Bloomington. They were fascinating to talk to in general, but specifically gave a lot of helpful information about the Bloomington area. The accommodations were perfect: inviting, clean, quiet. We felt comfortable coming and going as we pleased during our stay. We would definitely want to return there on our next trip to Bloomington. Their pets are friendly and well-behaved. Charles is an early-music aficionado, and has a huge collection of recorders in all ranges. We were sorry that our schedule did not allow us to sit in on one of the Saturday morning chamber music rehearsals.
Charles and Katie made me and my daughter feel very welcome. They where personable and friendly. The neighborhood was very pleasant and quiet.
Very nice couple with friendly animals. I had a action packed weekend with my son so I was not there much.
Lovely family in a musically inclined house. We got in around 11:30pm and they waited up for us to show us around and we're very warm, welcoming, and helpful.
Very nice, large and comfortable bedroom in a beautiful house. Katie and Charles are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home. Highly recommended for short and long stays in Bloomington.
This was the first time we had stayed in a situation other than having a place completely to ourselves so the experience was a bit different for us. That being said, Charles and Katie were both very nice and quite accommodating. Unfortunately, we did not have much of an opportunity to spend with them as we were away from the residence practically all of the time (other than sleeping!). Our room was very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. As the temp and humidity was extreme during our stay, the efficient a/c was very welcome! And most importantly, it was mostly peaceful and quiet. We say mostly due to the fact that there was one sleepless night due to one of their pets; however, they remedied the problem as soon as they learned of it and there were no further problems or loss of sleep!
In addition, as a musician, I greatly appreciated the opportunity (and the permission) to practice my instrument in the house.
You may read into the following however you please but, as we have rented privately-owned apartments and condos all over the US and Europe, this was the very first time that we felt compelled to clean the bathroom before making use of it. This may or may not be an issue for anyone else but it did detract from our overall assessment of our stay.
But we slept great! :)
Kathleen and Charles were wonderful hosts, and made sure I had everything that I needed -- iron and ironing board, etc, and had many recommendations for things to do in Bloomington. It was a very nice introduction to the area. You will need to have a car to get around, and to be okay with interacting with (very good-natured and trained) pets in the house.
