John joined the short term vacation rental business starting with the farmhouse in 2011, one of the first in the Lehigh Valley, becoming a Super Host at the Farmhouse until the end of 2018 with guests coming from all over the world. After selling the farm and carving off over an acre to keep (previously a sheep pasture), a new, smaller, Airbnb experience (now available~summer 2021) awaits guests who love the outdoors in a countryside setting and need that get~away with a short drive away.

Plan ahead now for your spring, summer, autumn, winter get~away and come stay at Camp Libelula/Campamento Libelula “Libelula” means “dragonfly” in Spanish.. There are plenty of dragonflies in the summer. Of course stars and fireflies fill the evening sky. Recreation is abundant whether is it skiing, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, tennis or at Dorney Park and Wild Waterkingdom. Seasoned firewood per bundle available for a fee. Also the gas fire~pit in front of the cabin uses propane, $16 per refill. Please ask John pre-arrival for wood bundles/propane refills for your stay. The bundles of firewood are located in front of the red workshop. Honor system or pre-pay $10/bundle. Money container will be located in front of workshop as well.

Camp Libelula is a perfect base for a couple or solo. One to four people. The next door ski mountain Bear Creek is 1.6 miles away. The mountain has an excellent ski school for all levels and top notch snow making throughout the winter. The cabins are a perfect autumn, winter, spring, summer getaway. Escape to visit the local wineries which are abundant in the area. The cabins offer nearby activites throughout the year with something for everyone.

Enjoy the countryside at this private gated/fenced property that is just a stone's throw from Bear Creek and it is a quick getaway to the country from the cities. Spend time at camp Libelula enjoying the outdoors with views of pastures.

The outdoor living area is set up with comfortable seating and a picnic table just a few feet away for 'al fresco' dining per season as well as the above ground pool seasonally.

The main cabin sleeps up to 2 people (pull out queen size sofa bed with extra support baffles for a firmer sleep) for the listed price and an additional $45 per person/night~maximum two people for the Amish built cabin. The property is a meeting of; old and new, country and city, people and a few neighboring sheep. The romance of a countryside getaway, getting away from the cities and time to reflect and reconnect with the countryside. Enjoy being on a property with a few amenities such as a private enclosed outdoor shower with natural light pouring in (instant hot/warm water), a pull out sofa in the cabin, the interior kitchen has a sink, oven, microwave and refrigerator. The outdoor living area in front of the cabin almost always has a breeze and is the center for relaxing, reading the morning news with coffee or watching the sunset over a glass of wine the views upon views ~ never ending and soul soothing.

A gas fire~pit at the outdoor living area adds to the warmth and charm of the the star /firefly filled sky in all seasons. Not far away from the outdoor living area is a wood fire~pit perfect for any evening (some periods camp fires are prohibited by local/state authorities) Please ask John for an update/ and for wood bundles for a fee during your stay.

Formerly a sheep pasture and part of the original farm, John sold the farmhouse at the end of 2018 and subdivided it downsizing to just over one acre, now called Libelula “dragonfly in Spanish”. It’s located in a conservation district of Longswamp Township in Berks County, PA on a no outlet road. Rolling hills and picturesque scenery of the countryside. Minutes from a nearby ski resort and minutes away from grocery shopping and other stores. A peaceful setting for a restful vacation. Lots of sightseeing year round. In the summer Dorney Park and Water kingdom is nearby as well as the Macungie community pool. The neighborhood does have kids playing outside/on the street so please arrive and depart by car slowly. The no outlet street is perfect for walking/biking. The township noise ordinance is 10pm. Please be considerate with voice levels during your stay.
