You’ll have the island to yourself.
Designed by Finnish designer Robin Falck, Nolla (=zero) is a 9m2 wooden cabin that represents an approach to living, where the focus is more on the outdoors.

The Nolla cabin is, in essence, an experiment to explore how we could live on less, whilst spending more time enjoying the nature around us. It aims to challenge and inspire visitors to live with a minimal footprint – simultaneously bringing us closer to a carbon neutral world.

Are you up for the challenge?

The space
The cabin is the size of small bedroom, with two camping beds and a stunning view into the archipelago. The cabin has a small cooking nook, featuring a Wallas stove, that can be used for both cooking and heating, and also runs on Neste MY Renewable Diesel (provided by the host).

The electricity supply of the cabin is generated by solar panels that are attached on the cabin’s roof. Supply may thus vary according to weather and can only be used for charging handheld devices. The cabin does not feature Wi-fi – but with such views, who needs the internet, anyway?

The cabin is equipped for guests with crisp linen bed sheets, towels, bathrobes and some natural cosmetics products. Guests should note, that the cabin does not feature running water, so baths take place in the sea, where synthetic cosmetics may not be used.

The island does not feature any infrastructure, but ecological dry toilets are available for guests throughout their stay, at a 400m walking distance. Fresh water is available at the Vallisaari guest port, a 700m walk from the cabin.

Visitors are encouraged and guided to pursue a zero waste lifestyle while staying at the cabin. Avoiding bringing packaged foods and cosmetics is recommended. The host is available for consultation on matters concerning zero waste food supplies etc.

The Nolla cabin and its surroundings offer an idyllic environment for a relaxing getaway from everyday life. At Nolla, everyone has a chance to wind down and break away from their daily routines and obligations.

Other things to note
With their Journey to Zero campaign, Finnish renewable energy company Neste is exploring ways to build a world with minimal emissions. The first lap of this journey is the Nolla cabin, which has been designed to demonstrate a simple lifestyle close to nature, with minimal emissions and waste.

Rent will be donated to The Ocean Cleanup, who develop advanced technologies to rid the world's oceans of plastic.
