Master bedroom with a big window, in a 3-bedroom character house with mid-century hardwood floors, mature trees, and 2 lovely cats. I sleep in the basement and rent out the two upstairs rooms. Real wood fireplace, full kitchen access, laundry, wi-fi, - and friendly conversation if you want it!

The space
Adorable house built in 1958, with original engineered hardwood floors and wood-burning fireplace. Your room has a nice big window looking out at the front garden and big deciduous trees. Queen-sized bed, desk and chair, bedside table, lamps; dresser, mirror, closet, towel racks and lots of hooks.

Guest access
Guests have a mini-fridge in the kitchen, and can use the stove/pots/utensils etc to cook if you like. (As long as you clean up, of course!)

Feel free to hang out in the living room - the evening light is lovely!
Guests staying 2+ nights can use the fireplace (after an orientation with me) - firewood provided!

1 adult bicycle available for rent ($5/day)

Free access to washer, dryer, and laundry sink (soap and fabric-softener sheets provided). Iron, ironing board, and air-drying racks also available if desired.

Tonnes of storage space downstairs so you can get your luggage, sports equipment etc out of your way!

I've got extra phone cords, stationery, various tools, crafting supplies, etc. If you need to glue your shoe, fix your necklace, sew on a button, etc., just ask and I can probably help you out!

Other things to note
- Assortment of high-quality coffee and tea - help yourself 24/7
- GIANT "bath sheet" towels
- Regular and ergonomic-foam pillows
Everyone is welcome here. Everyone.

Location

Exact location provided after booking.

Glenbrooke North, Burnaby, British Columbia

This is a residential area with several elementary schools nearby. Mature trees throughout. Note that some guests notice traffic noise; traffic is low-speed (50-60km/h) but there are lots of cars going by.

1 block away is a large area of forest with small footpaths.
2 blocks away is a giant public park, with open fields, playground equipment, wide walking trails, and an outdoor pool in summertime.

For groceries, shops, and restaurants, I recommend taking a short (10 minute) bus ride to downtown New Westminster, rated one of the most walkable cities in North America. Or you can walk to the Safeway/McDonalds eight blocks away.

I'm 39, and after working a wide variety of jobs I'm now back at school full-time, studying Anthropology at UBC. I love my garden, my 2 cats, swimming, languages, yoga, the forest, and meeting new people!
During your stay
I can provide transit help, suggestions for a nice walk in the woods nearby, or conversation about all sorts of things! Or I can leave you alone and do some studying in my room.
