The Jordaan is a district of the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The area is bordered by the Lijnbaansgracht canal to the west, the Prinsengracht to the east, the Brouwersgracht to the north and the Leidsegracht to the south.
Originally a working-class neighbourhood, the Jordaan has become one of the most expensive, upscale locations in the Netherlands. It is home to many art galleries, particularly for modern art, and is also dotted with speciality shops and restaurants. Markets are held regularly at Noordermarkt, the Westerstraat (the Lapjesmarkt textile market) and Lindengracht.
Rembrandt spent the last years of his life in the Jordaan, on the Rozengracht canal. He was buried in the Westerkerk church, at the corner of Rozengracht and Prinsengracht, just beyond the Jordaan. The Anne Frank House, where Anne Frank went into hiding during World War II, is located on the edge of the Jordaan, on the Prinsengracht canal.
Because of the narrow streets and canals of the Jordaan, there are not many buses and trams that drive through the Jordaan itself. Which makes the district nice and quite.
The paved Rozengracht (2 minute walk) is wide enough to offer space to the public transport. And this is done very extensive. Complete series of trams and buses go via the Rozengracht through the Jordaan. This is done by the trams 13, 14 and 17 and the buses 142, 170 and 172.
For the rest the most trams and buses go around the Jordaan. On the North side you have the buses 18 and 22, on the West side on the Marnixstraat the trams 3 and 10 and on the south side there are the trams 1, 2 and 5 via the Leidsestraat.

Absolutely amazing experience with Eva. She was able to accommodate us last minute and her loft style flat was directly infront of the canal with 5 minute walking distance to central square. We give this listing 10/10 and will stay in Eva's flat anytime we are back in Amsterdam!!
Eva was punctual, very helpful and this flat was absolutely perfect. It's clean and quiet and in the perfect area. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks Eva!
Great location with some lovely restaurants/bars nearby. The apartment itself was very clean and perfect for our needs. Eva was a pleasure to deal with and her sister kindly waited for us at the apartment which meant we had no hanging around when arriving quite late which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.
