In the village of Eamont Bridge overlooking the River Eamont, our well equipped Cottage gives easy access to the Lake District and the Eden Valley. This historic area has Neolithic monuments, Roman forts medieval castles and fabulous scenery.
The Cottage was a stable, converted in 1989 to make a comfortable dwelling suitable for four people.Everyone who has stayed with us has said how lovely the cottage is. We overlook the River Eamont and the River Lowther flows down the other end of the village. Six miles away is Lake Ullswater, with its spectacular views. Wordsworth loved this area and so do I. Come and see it for yourself.
Guests have access to the walled garden with pond and mature trees, off road parking space (down a very narrow lane), clothes line and outdoor table and chairs.
Interaction with Guests
We like to meet our guests if possible and show them round the cottage. Because our house is adjacent to the Cottage, guests can come at any time if there is a problem. We have had guests from all over the world and they have all been delightful and delighted.
What is there not to love about the Lake District and the Eden Valley? The scenery is beautiful. The nearest lake is Ullswater and ferries run from one end to the other, stopping off at various destinations. For the keen walker, the area is ideal, with lakeside fells to explore and country tracks to follow. The surrounding countryside is steeped in history, from Neolithic Henges and stone circles to the Romans and Hadrian's Wall, Medieval castles and the Jacobite rebellion of 1749
The cottage is ideally situated within easy reach of a main line railway station. It is close to the M6 motorway, with good road links north, south, east and west. The nearest airport is Newcastle, then Glasgow with Manchester about 100 miles away.
Other Things to Note
The cottage is well stocked with books, CD's and games. We have internet access and Janet and Graham are available for further information. PLEASE NOTE for bookings of three days or less, a surcharge of £30 will be added for housekeeping, payable on arrival.
Guests can come and go as they please. No pets or smoking please. Children very welcome
Lovely cottage...beautiful garden....everything we needed, very narrow driveway!
Great accommodation. Really well equipped, and VERY comfortable beds (this is very important to me). Ideally located for lake district, would definitely stay agian!
Perfect location for venturing into the lakes but also in easy distance of Penrith for those who like a bit of shopping or nightlife. Lovely little cottage and Janet was a great host, very helpful upon arrival.
Janet was a great host, she was very helpful answering our questions before we arrived and providing useful information about the local area once we got there. The cottage was just lovely, perfect size for four adults split over two floors and has a lovely garden. It's great location, safe parking and easy to get to. This is a great place to base yourself while staying in the Lakes. We would recommend staying here.
Very cozy stay. We arrived late but received warm welcome from graham. Loved the surroundings. Wasn't expecting such a small and acute angle entrance to the cottage. Nevertheless, small but comfortable house. Shower probably was one of the best among my trip stays.
Janet was there to greet us and show us around. Nice friendly welcome without being too time consuming.
Cottage as described and nice and warm. Everything there we needed and milk, coffee and sugar an added bonus as no nearby shops that I found in village although 3 pubs!! Thai meal in one was good.
