The Space

PLEASE NOTE-In order to accommodate you or your group appropriately, we will need additional information. For example, your group may not fit in one room, you may wish to occupy more than one room or a level of the home.

Charges vary by number of persons, space, room/s, weekends/special holidays or events and length of stay.

My apologies but it is difficult to address each and every possibility we can provide so the site calculator and/or calendar will NOT be correct.

Please verify availability and rates with the host prior to booking.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance in providing you a memorable vacation and stay.

This home has 4 levels, 3 separate apartments, multiple rooms and a variety of accommodations available for different budgets and needs along with a full size bathroom on each level for our guests comfort and convenience.

As hosts, we typically remain on the property full time and operate as a hostel and/or dormitory style environment. The entire home is not typically available March thru October when we cannot tear ourselves away from this amazing city!

We welcome you to respectfully enjoy our home as if it were your own, with access to the living areas, decks, eat in kitchens, etc.

About the neighborhood:

Why we love it-Lakeview is a beautiful neighborhood with lush tree lined streets, historic million dollar homes, and lots of young families. Pretend you’re a local by spending time walking around the area parks, boutiques, brunch joints (Kanel, Bakin’& Eggs) coffee shops, and amazing restaurants with dining deals every night!

Speaking of the nightlife-vibrant bars with wonderful craft beers, (Ten Cat, NorthDown) happening live music venues (Uncommon Ground, Schuba’s, Metro, Lincoln Hall), comedy clubs (Chemically Imbalanced, IO Theater), catch indie and foreign films (The Landmark Century Centre Cinema, The MusicBox or Brew and View at the Vic) award winning performing arts (Athenaeum, Apollo, TimeLine, Playground) makes this an ideal location.

Not to mention Chicago’s sporting events-Wrigley Field is within walking distance and the home of the Bulls and Blackhawks (United Center) as well as White Sox’s Cellular Field is a quick trip on public transit!

With twenty-four hour trains, some overnight bus services, and plenty of taxis, transportation in and around the city is fast and easy- even to and from Midway and O’Hare Airport!

Enjoy Lake Michigan’s Lakefront, with a 22 mile stretch of bike and running path. Don’t forget to sink your toes in the sand, visit the fun bars and maybe join a game of volleyball at North, Oak, Ohio and Montrose Beaches. The free Lincoln Park Zoo and Nature Museum are close by and great for a family-fun weekend.

After dark when the "Loop" and downtown sites are desolate, the work day is over and the sidewalks roll up at 6pm, take an opportunity to enjoy the uniqueness of one of the best North side neighborhoods. Take a break and unwind from your conference or convention at McCormick Place.

Stroll along Lincoln, Clark and Belmont Avenue's or over to Roscoe Village to enjoy our local stores and vintage shops.

Just a few blocks away, check out the up and coming Southport Corridor and Music Box Theater.

Walk to Wrigleyville for the city’s best nite life, plethora of bars (The Cubby Bear, The Dugout) and restaurants or Wrigley Field for Cubs Games and concerts. (free game nite and concert parking for our guests)

We’ve got it all! Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Jewel Osco are just a quick walk. (Our neighborhood has a walk score of 91)

We provide Wifi, cable TV, parking, etc.

About the transit:

Chicago's amazing public transit system and the proximity of stops to our place, makes this an ideal location to call home base when visiting the city and local attractions.

Sleep peacefully-we are close enough to the "EL" for convenience but far enough that it is a distant if unnoticeable sound.

Our clean, safe home is nestled conveniently between the Red line train (which operates 24/7) and Brown line Addison "EL" city train stops.

The Paulina brown line station is just a few short blocks along with the Southport and Addison brown line stations within 10 minutes walking distance.

The #9 (North and South) and the #152 (East and West) bus stops are at each end of our block.

About the sites:

The speedy train will have you to the steps of all area sites within minutes; such as Michigan Avenue known as Magnificent Mile for the shoppers, The Arts Institute for the largest Monet collection in the world, Museum Campus for those who wish to explore the Shedd Aquarium, Field and Science and Adler Planetarium.

Or if your wish is to wander Navy Pier for the 15 story Ferris Wheel and Shakespeare Theater or take in the beauty of Lake Shore Drive and the miles of lakefront bike paths, this is it.

Visit other conveniently located neighborhoods. Check out Old Town for a visit to the famous Second City and Wells Street, or further East to Gold Coast for more great restaurants and nightlife and further West for trendy Bucktown and Wicker Park for shopping or food tours. Go North to Andersonville’s quaint Main Street, North West to Lincoln Square for Old Town School of Folk Music and North East to Uptown for some of my favorites like Tank Noodle on Argyle Streets “Little Vietnam” area, the Green Mill, Chicago’s oldest jazz club, the Aragon Ballroom and Riviera and Annoyance Theaters.

Other must see and do’s like, Millennium Park to include The Bean (Cloud Gate) and Frank Gehry’s outdoor concert pavilion, Grant Park for Buckingham Fountain, Soldier Field, Lincoln Park and the free Zoo all easy trips.

The not to be missed tours by boat, bus or foot sponsored by the Chicago Architectural Foundation for structural and history buffs alike, Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) for the 360 degree views on the Sky Deck and the John Hancock Building observatory for the adventurers.

Nearby colleges DePaul and Loyola as well as easily accessible UIC and Northwestern, makes this a great stay for parent visits or temporary housing for college students.

About the house:

This is an amazing place with lots of space! This home has 4 levels; the Penthouse level and the main level (A) which are one apartment, the middle level (B) which is its own apartment and the garden level (C) also its own apartment.

The Penthouse level, accessed by 3 flights stairs, offers two enormous rooms.

On the East side of the home, is the Master Suite with Master Bath. It offers a King Size Sleep Number bed, steam shower and private entrance from the Sky Deck. You can see why it is our primary occupancy and why we rent it only on occasion :)

On the West side of the Penthouse level is an enormous room without shared walls for maximum privacy. This also offers an equally grand full size bathroom located just outside the bedroom door creating an environment that is nearly a Master Suite in its own right. This room can provide accommodations in a mix of real beds and air mattresses.

The Main level (A)-

The front door staircase leads to a sizable living room that seats 8+ with our brand new leather Lazy boy reclining sofa, leather chair and ottoman and new 46" flat screen tv w/cable.

Conveniently located on this level is also a spacious full size bathroom with stand- up walk in shower. The enormous eat in kitchen seats 4 to 5 persons at the counter and another 6 to 8 at the dining table. There is a deck off of the kitchen that can seat another 4 to 5 persons.

Sleeping accommodations on the main level consist of a large room with a mix of either real beds or air mattresses and a flat screen cable tv. There is also a semi private alcove off of the living room blocked off by privacy screens.

Both the Main and Penthouse levels have had the most up to date conveniences to include a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and central heat and air conditioning.

Apartment B-

This apartment, accessed by only one flight of stairs, has the perfect arrangement for groups wishing to have a more private stay. For example, we welcome families with well-behaved children and mature, respectful adults and students.

The amenities include a large living room with brand new flat screen tv, sectional sofa, an enormous eat in kitchen (email hidden) height table and island kitchen counter with bar stool seating. There is a deck just off of the kitchen to have your morning coffee. A/C window units keep the space cool and comfortable in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.

There is one enormous bedroom which has a unique and comfy "loft style" bed (grown up bunk bed) and a 2nd cozy bedroom. A combination of real beds and air mattresses are available to sleep your group comfortably. If needed, the living room can accommodate comfy, raised air mattresses as well. Three enormous closets easily offer plenty of storage space for luggage for large groups.

Need more room/s? More sleeping spaces or gathering spaces are available for your group on other levels!

The Garden Level Apartment C-

A very spacious yet smaller version of accommodations and amenities provided in Apartment B, this unit has been equipped with a window bench seat, flat screen tv, full kitchen to include a microwave, coffee pot and toaster oven.

For travelers wishing more comforts than a hotel, we can provide a dining room table, two comfy living room chairs and a desk. Sleeping accommodations provide for a mix of real and air mattresses which can be increased for a larger group by moving and/or eliminating dining and living room furniture. Between the garden unit design and windy city breeze, this space stays cool in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.

Need more room/s? More sleeping spaces are available for your group on other levels!

What makes our place unique?

The amount of space we offer of course! One of the few places in the city that has the ability to accommodate larger groups, we love hosting out of town guests and ensuring they have a great experience.

We realize you are either on vacation or here for business and want you to feel right at home. Whatever we can do to make this a memorable trip, please let us know.

We can accommodate ALL size groups from the single traveler, those traveling with a friend, couples, families, groups-you name it, we hope to accommodate it!

We welcome mature bachelor and bachelorette groups, family reunions, and groups we just haven't thought of yet:)

(Thorough detailed itinerary, guest and vehicle list
required-a copy of each guests government issued ID such as a passport or driver's license made upon arrival)

Great way to "live like a local" while exploring the city.

Be our guests! Be our guests! Be our guests:)

*Smoking is permitted on the rear deck only!!

**Parking in this neighborhood is free, non permitted and easily available except for Cubs game nites. We provide free parking passes to our guests. We also have private covered garage spaces available for $25 per nite. Great added value since parking in the city is $25 tp $50 per nite minimum.

***Wish to keep to your workout while traveling? Find these amenities within a few blocks: XSports Fitness offers $20 daily and $45 weekly guest passes. Or you can support the local YMCA for just $12 per day. Prefer Yoga? Check out CorePower Yoga.

    Response from Chris And Stephanie:

KB and her non profit student group needed 10+beds and space to prepare meals as well as have meetings for their group. We were happy to provide all of the above:) As avid supporters ourselves of many, many non profit organizations through blood, sweat, tears, donations and our companies fund raising platform, we were happy to learn of another cause that others cared so much about. Another amazing bonus of exposure we enjoy by being hosts-we especially enjoy meeting such brilliant college students! Thank you:)

  • Chris and Stephanie were great hosts and the house was perfect for our group of 20 students. The two apartments are cozy and only have one bathroom each (which is a little tough for 20 students) but we were more than happy to share and made it work just fine. The house worked out great for us. It was clean, in a nice neighborhood, and very comfortable! Everyone loved it and had a time.

    Response from Chris And Stephanie:

Our greatest gift of being Airbnb hosts in Chicago, is the opportunity to fill our home with bright college students. Patricia's group was no exception. They had a very full and rigid schedule for their working "Spring Break" which understandably could make the showering schedule a bit challenging. We do attempt offer a variety of options and accommodations to address all budgets and needs as we did for this group. Between balancing their teachers request (and probably sanity) of staying all together in one place as well as a safe neighborhood and the groups desire for having private apartments, our place seemed to strike the perfect chord. We thoroughly enjoyed working with their group and sharing their enthusiasm for this city. We hope to host them again here in Chicago or even some other city in which our mutual journey's take us.

  • Chris and Stephanie are probably the most detailed people in their descriptions so you might get a little confused. The arrangements are somewhat complicated and somewhat hard to understand, unless you are physically there to see them, but they work.

Chris and Stephanie are honest helpful and understanding. They really care about you and will make your stay a pleasurable one. If you need help figuring things out let them know.

The location was perfect because it was minutes from all the bars at wriggly ville and it's very safe. I wasn't too sure about the neighborhoods of Chicago but this whole area is good and safe.

Go for this if you have the option.

    Response from Chris And Stephanie:

Thanks for the tip about adding bullet points, Shaun. (If I could only figure out how;)) We have added some MORE detail and additional steps to help guests make the best choice for their comfort, needs and budget during their vacation or working stay. We are forever a work in progress and we appreciate all of the wonderful things you have shared about us and our intention to ensure folks have the trip they desire. We hope our paths cross again here in Chicago or even some other city our mutual journey's take us!

  • Originally the posting was a little less clear about how the apartments were split. We were a little discouraged upon arrival to find that we were stuck in the basement, but since it was a bachelor party trip it ended up not mattering.

Chris and Stephanie were wonderful hosts and maintained excellent communication throughout the booking and stay. We really enjoyed our time in Chicago and the location is AMAZING. They were very welcoming upon arrival and made us feel at home as much as possible.

The apartment is in good repair and everything was comfortable. Our party had a lot of people so it was a little cramped but that's half our fault. I do wish the (old) description was a bit more detailed and clear. If it weren't for that I would have given a 4 star rating. Otherwise it was a great stay with great hosts.

Should I find myself in Chicago again I will definitely be contacting Chris and Stephanie again!

  • Host Chris and Stephanie were very friendly and even though this was our first experience with Airbnb made us feel very comfortable. They were very respecting of our privacy which was my biggest concern. The location was great and they were very helpful with the Chicago transit system.

  • I checked in very late, much later than what I had told them and they were very understanding. At one point, Chris even graciously offered to give me a ride. Their place is just fantastic and very conveniently located too.

  • Stephanie and Chris were awesome! My group of friends arrived in stages and they were not only accommodating, they took the time to show our first arrival the "lay of the land" and get her acquainted with the area. They were accessible, but not intrusive; made sure we had everything we needed, including scarves with the weather was a little unpredictable. Our experience was nothing but positive and I would not hesitate to stay with them again.

  • Chris and Stephanie were amazing hosts. They were helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and their place is not only located in an excellent area but they keep it in immaculate shape.

It was the best Airbnb experience I've ever had.

  • EXCELLENT all across the board! This was my first Airbnb experience and I'm officially spoiled - I don't know how it could get better than this! Staying with Stephanie and Cris was a fabulous experience. They are friendly people and made me feel so comfortable. Their house (Lakeview) is in a great location - buses and trains within short walking distance. If you are in the Chicagoland area and need a place to stay, don't hesitate to contact them. You'll be very glad that you did!

  • Stephaine was AWESOME! They have a really great setup. They need to write a book on how to do this airbnb rental, they are real pros. She was so helpful, kind, and friendly. Five gold stars all around. If you need a place to stay in Chicago, this is where you need to be.

Hello Fellow Traveler! We welcome you to our Airbnb listing and appreciate that you wish to learn more about us as your potential hosts. We enjoy meeting new people and look forward to sharing with you what we love about Chicago:) Why have we opened our home? We arrived about 3 summers ago for a 3 day business trip, fell in love with Chicago and never left. This is our 3rd summer! Since we are both adventurous spirits, with some trepidation, we tried this thing called "AirBNB". We had such a great experience because of our host; we thought we would pay it forward. What has been our favorite experience hosting so far? Lollapalooza:) Who are we? Chris and I met in High School and reconnected on the site that begins with Face and ends with Book a couple of years ago. We think we have quite the love story that resulted in a proposal a few years back and would be happy to share it with you on one of your relaxing evenings on our deck or over a cup coffee while you are sorting out your travels for the day-but we promise not to bore you with it! What are we doing here? After we reunited, we had the amazing opportunity to become Environmental Stewards for a wonderful company that brought us to Chicago. One of our company's core values is to stimulate the local economy, find other Environmental Stewards like ourselves and train them for leadership roles. (Another great story if you are out of sorts from your trip and can't sleep one nite-and of course care to hear it:) ) What we think about ourselves as hosts? We pride ourselves in being open and available hosts for a chat, a recommendation, throwing darts, a game of scrabble or an impromptu cook out or s'mores on the fire pit but we also completely respect your privacy and understand this is your trip. We only wish to ensure your travels are more than you would have hoped for thru spending time at our home and meeting other guests. Where have we been? Chris is an Army Brat and has lived all over the States and I have traveled around Europe while living in Madrid, Spain for 3 years. Places Chris has lived: He spent his youth in San Antonio, Hawaii, Denver, Colorado Springs and Maryland (the DC area). As an adult, he lived in Kansas City for a bit, he settled for many years in Norman, Oklahoma (if you've heard of it), Dallas/Ft. Worth, back to Maryland (to get me;)) and now Chicago. Places Chris has traveled to: Boston and other parts of Massachusetts in which he has tons of family and for our business, all over New Jersey (our company has a HUGE presence there and helped tremendously with the Hurricane Sandy clean up), many parts of PA (we really enjoyed our time in Pittsburgh), Philly a few times (best sandwiches we have found yet!) and many more. Stephanie lived most of her life in the Maryland area traveling for work in the DC and Virginia areas but joining her friends on their business trips in the States to visit as many cities as possible. Of course, the fun-damentals like Las Vegas, Miami Beach (along with many other Florida cities that my family lives such as Ft. Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Jacksonville) and NYC. More relaxing fun in Savannah, GA; Myrtle Beach, SC (where my mom has retired), Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ (where my brother used to live), San Diego and Coronado (a couple of times since they are some of my favorite), Hawaii (to see the first grandchild in our family), L.A. (had the opportunity to cruise Monterey's 17 mile drive)... Stephanie's European Travels: Of course many of the big cities like Paris (the food!), Munich (best airport ever!), Frankfurt, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Malaga, Bilbao, Gothenburg, Sweden (for a dear friends wedding), but also some off of the beaten path that became my very favorite memories like Morocco, Tunisia and more.... Places we will go: Brazil, Fiji, South America, Canada....
