Description

The space

Arriba - "Upstairs" is a romantic apartment with its loft and king sized bed. It is decorated in Mexican colors with local Mexican crafts. Ceiling fans encourage the ocean breezes which are very reliable because of the location on a ridge above La Madera Beach. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen and good quality (US) linens. A safe is provided in the apartment for guest use.
Arriba is one of three apartments in CASA AZUL - rent one of them or the whole house.

Guest access

CASA AZUL is located on a residential street with no traffic (dead end). The beach is a 5 minute walk; town about 10 minutes on a sidewalk along the beach.
The Casa has a courtyard filled with flowers, inviting you to relax, enjoy a cool drink and meet your fellow travellers.
WiFi connection is strong - Maid service is provided twice weekly.

Interaction with guests

My wife and I share our time between California, Zihuatanejo and other travel destinations. We usually live in one of the CASA AZUL apartments each spring.
My manager in Zihuatanejo, is especially responsive, helpful and very friendly. Her English is good and she is a great resource for local advice and recommendations.

The neighborhood

CASA AZUL is in the La Madera neighborhood, an older residential area on top of a ridge above the beach. It is a quiet street with lots of trees and flowers, filled with the sound of the surf and of many birds.

Getting around

Zihuatanejo is a small town, safe to walk everywhere. Beaches, restaurants, shops and services are only a few minutes away.
Taxis can be conveniently hailed from the corner and fare around town is about $3. Taxis and buses are available for trips to Ixtapa.

Other things to note

There are lots of special events in Zihuatanejo. My favorite is the International Guitar Festival, every year in March. The price is lower pre-season; higher during Christmas time.

My discovery of Zihuatanejo was by sailing into the bay while on a trip to Panama.
I returned, anchored in Zihuatanejo Bay, and found CASA AZUL.
My first impression was that it is like living in a tree house in a beautiful tropical setting.
For the past 10 years, I have enjoyed sharing the experience with friends and with guests from many parts of the world.
