We had a wonderful 10 days in Rincon at Laura's beach house. It was just as described and shown in the photo's and also spotlessly clean. There was a very useful guest book where previous guests had left hints and tips about where to go to eat and have fun. Laura emailed me great information about how to find the beach house, access information and general information about the accommodation. Any questions we had were promptly answered, a successful stay was Laura's top priority. Laura did let us know that as much as she subscribes to the best internet service, it could be intermittent. After the first day we could not access internet at all, but given that, if internet is important to you, there are plenty of businesses locally that have free wifi. It was lovely to be able to look out from the back balcony over the ocean, and have access to the beach. There are a couple of restaurants/bars that are situated on the hill above the beach house that have loud music until after midnight Fri through Sun ....but other than that it is a beautiful tranquil setting and the sunsets are awesome! I would highly recommend this accommodation and Rincon is a great place to visit and get a real taste of life outside the city in Puerto Rico.
We had such a wonderful time at Laura's house in Rincon! The place was perfectly clean, very comfortable, and right by the ocean. Everything worked perfectly: the air conditioning, the stove, the grill, the washer/drier, the shower. Laura was very easy to communicate with and made all of the logistics very easy. The neighborhood was quiet (the loudest sound was of crashing waves) and we met some really nice people on the block who made us feel welcome. We enjoyed exploring the nearby town center. We went surfing, ate fish tacos and journeyed down to San Germane to go rock climbing. We would highly recommend this house if you are looking for a relaxing beach getaway in PR.
What an amazing experience. We stayed for 3 days, I could have stayed forever... Laura had fantastic recommendations. And there are incredible beaches and things to do within a 5 to 20 minute drive. I highly recommend EC bakery and Pools beach. I would come back, with certainty.
Laura was a great host making sure we knew exactly how to get into the house and giving suggestions about where to go for food. The house is exactly as depicted. The water does come right up to the balcony with a small beach. You can hear the ocean and sleep to the sound of the gentle waves. You can walk the beach and walk through the preserve which is right next to the development. It is in preservation for the sea turtles which you can see sometimes, although we did get to see them. The kitchen is big enough for cooking so you can stay home for meals if you prefer. We found the people in Rincon to be very friendly. The Sunday farmers market and Thursday Art Walk downtown are great ways to experience the community.
Outstanding! Laura and her husband were extremely welcoming and helpful. Laura's communication was timely, courteous, and detailed enough that we knew exactly what to expect when we arrived in sunny Rincon, where she and her family met us and ensured that we got settled in. The house was as beautiful as the pictures, everything is well-maintained and clean, and the beach is quiet and tranquil. We never wanted to leave! When we were out and about in Rincon, we loved the Copa Llena for dinner and watching surfers brave the big waves at Maria's Beach, which also has a great open-air bar/restaurant. (For us first-timers, the Puntas Surf School offered a great beginner lesson at Sandy Beach. Ask for Nolan!) We also recommend checking out El Charco de la Leche, a series of waterfalls near San Sebastian. And if you love seafood, drive 45 minutes south to the town of Joyuda and take your pick of the long row of restaurants right on the water.
Laura was great and provided perfect directions for getting to, into, and around the house. She was also very responsive to any questions that came up with fast replies via text. The house was well equipped with everything one really needs. Don't expect a huge kitchen with all of the bells and whistles but, really, this is a cute little 2br beachfront cottage...how much do you really need? It is perfect for kicking back, enjoying the view, relaxing, and also provides a nice home base for exploring the rest of the wonders that Rincon offers. We enjoyed the view from the lighthouse, some of the other beaches, the cute downtown, and just cruising around taking in the beautiful sights.
The view out those doors in the photo is completely accurate and representative of the beauty of this place. This is NOT a situation where there is some industrial center just out of camera view! In fact, the beach out the back steps was very quiet with only a few people on it, and was perfect for sunbathing, jogging, yoga, the proverbial long walks. It seems to go on nearly forever, but at least several miles if you take a left, and my wife felt completely safe walking it alone each morning. If you take a right it goes to some really cool rocky coastlines that are best explored at low tide.
If you are snorkeling inclined I suggest waiting for a morning when the water is calm and clear (waves seem to pick up in the afternoon) and head straight out from the house. Once you are about 40ft out from the beach, turn right and follow the coastline to those cool rocky areas I mentioned above. I spotted all sorts of interesting stuff, including some sort of striped eel, purple fan coral, and too many others to list.
The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. We had friendly chats with several of the other residents of the street and they were warm and welcoming. There are a few bar/restaurants straight up a very steep hill overlooking this house, with open air back decks. They can be a convenient place to walk to for dinner and drinks if you want an easy night "out", but for stodgy curmudgeons they might be slightly loud on weekend nights. Even for non revelers, simply running the air conditioner in the bedroom drowns the majority of the noise, and if you are super sensitive then a simple pair of ear plugs will take care of any remainder...but really, this spot is so beautiful you should be out back on the deck or the beach looking up at the stars (which are very bright due to low light pollution levels) and enjoying the free music!
My wife and I had planned to write a more complete and cogent review but I just got this "final opportunity to review" notice forcing me to write it off the cuff, I hope it helps you out!
Laura was the best host you could ask for. She promptly emailed us with all of the necessary information and was always available through phone contact. She was even able to personally come to the house when we had a concern.
The home is set on a beautiful street right on the coast. We enjoyed the sounds of the water crashing below us at all times of the day. The space was perfect for us! Also, we loved grilling on the outside area provided with a shelter from the rain.
In the night the restaurants above have live music that you can clearly hear in the bedroom (unless you use AC then you can't hear it at all.) We actually enjoyed falling asleep to the combination of live music and waves crashing.
We had an amazing time and look forward to going back!
