I stayed in the tipi for one night in the middle of a road trip and it exceeded my expectations! Ben and Laura were so welcoming and so nice. They had a family/friend gathering to watch a movie projected onto the barn outside and invited me to watch it and eat/drink with them. They had anything you would possibly need in case you forgot to pack something. There were a bunch of other travelers there too who made for great conversation and were all such great company.
The property was magical and seemed like something right out of a fairy tale. They had a hobbit wine cellar, graffiti house, and adult swing set etc. I definitely needed more time there! Plus, the animals on the property were so sweet and I even had a cat sneak into the tipi at night to snuggle with me! I would definitely love to stay again!!!
Laura and Ben (and their ecclectic, super-fun place) were AWESOME! Stay here - you won't regret it! We were late getting there (8:45pm), but it was easy to find and Laura had a campfire going when we arrived. She took the time to show us around the whole place - even though it was dark out! We couldn't have felt more at home...ok, except that we don't sleep in a tepee at home. :-) Everything about staying here was easy - Laura was great about communicating (both via AirBNB messaging and by text when we were on the road), the place was easy to find, it was very clean, and we had a fun and beautiful stay. We claim this as one of our best AirBNB stays yet! Thanks Laura and Ben! (Oh, one item of note: if you are allergic to cats, you might want to choose to stay in the water tower or tent rather than the tepee, which came with a feline resident, Portia! We loved having her, though. :-) ).
Great intro to the property by Ben. The TeePee is really fun. Being with the cat, chickens and horses makes it feel peaceful even though you are pretty close to both a train and Hwy 1 (host provides ear plugs). The view to the ocean is very nice and a great way to wake up. Make sure to get to bed early because the sun will wake you up early in the summer. You'll want to get there early and leave late as there are many things to do in the area (I recommend a visit to the dunes).
Ben and Laura are wonderful hosts! Staying at their property is an unusual and inspiring experience. We asked Ben for the long version tour around all of his very creative projects. Be sure to see the spiral staircase with steps made from cutlery and other recycled objects. The teepee was very comfortable and we enjoyed the fire ring in the morning. The bath house was also very comfortable to use and creatively designed and constructed. Thank you Ben and Laura for a great stay!
My son and I started a 10 day vacation on July 3 at the Doty's farm/property and in the Tipi. It was clean, wonderful with a great view. We felt right at home right away and it was worth the trip. We enjoyed the area and beaches and history of hosts and property. We would love to come again. Marc and Jess
The Tipi at Ben and Laura's was awesome! Thanks for welcoming us to your home and hobby farm. The craftsmanship, warmth and love of that place is very infectious. The bed was comfy and warm. There was even a resident cat that that slept with us to make sure we were warm and cared for. If you are allergic or don't like cats let the hosts Laura and Ben know, they will be accommodating. Overall great, unique experience.
Laura and Ben really are the best hosts. We loved the tipi and everything about them and their property. I was worried we would be cold but there are so many blankets that we didn't even use them all! I can't recommend staying with them enough.
