Catherine's place is lovely! As you see in the photos it's decorated quite European. She thought of everything! My husband and I walked down to the byward market, (it is an easy walk) and we had an amazing dinner at the Keg. It's one of the places we really like. The bed was so so comfortable! We would certainly stay here again! Thank you Catherine for a little break from the day to day!

Everything was fine. Good communication, nice place, clean, well-decorated. The apartment was walking distance from the market and center of town but maybe a bit farther than ideal. Neighborhood was okay. Good value--we were happy.

Fantastic and quick communication! We were given everything we needed to park (a paid lot 1/2 block away) and settle in smoothly and quickly. We were basically just looking for a spot to crash for the night. It was perfect for that. No kitchen, but microwave, coffee pot and mini fridge are available. The apartment is super cute and clean. Great shower! It has an European vibe. I kept feeling like I was in the Amalfi Coast or something.

This place was amazing. The apartment was neat, and had everything I was looking for. The host left us a nice and detailed booklet with all the important information you will need to know to get around Ottawa. The location was very convenient. Checking in and out was easy, and the host was kind and friendly. Also, the architecture was very interesting, in addition to it being a historical building.

Our arrival at the apartment was a great success with Catherine's husband welcoming us very well, showing the apartment and even giving excellent tips about Ottawa, which by the way, is a wonderful place. The apartment itself is very nice. Fits comfortably 4 people. Location is great. There is just no way to get lost.

Response from Catherine:
We are so pleased that you found the location was great for your vacation in Ottawa. I know you mentioned that you found it to be an easy walk to the Byward market, Parliament Hill, the Rideau canal (and perfect for your planned return this upcoming March when you and your family plan to skate on the canal). I am glad you chose to follow my recommendation that you attend the Lights show on Parliament Hill at 10 pm at night. Though it is a late hour for a family with young children, you found it worthwhile and fun for the entire family. I mention this to all my guests and many have thanked me for telling them about this personally during the check in rather than hoping they read it in the manual I provide each guest. The free Lights show is put on by the federal government and they do a terrific job every summer. There is plenty of free seating for everyone and the show runs 7 nights a week. I am pleased also that you found the apartment to be a comfortable size for 5 people. I know you chose to eat most of your meals out but that you were genuinely surprised at how well equipped the kitchen was. I do not believe in only leaving salt and pepper since most people would need other spices in order to cook something tasty. Who wants to eat bland on their vacation. And, to buy one bottle of spice can be over $5! My husband and I, when we travel, also stay at airbnb homes, and we are disappointed when we check in and are then expected to buy the cooking basics. What is the point of having an apartment with a kitchen if you cannot afford to use it? We look forward to your return visit this upcoming winter. Book early as this is a busy time of year (lots of people love the snow in Ottawa and especially look forward to skating on the famous Rideau canal. See you soon! Regards, Catherine

This is a very nice, clean apartment. It is a short walk to the center of Ottawa. There is a wine and grocery store nearby. It was great that there was a refrigerator and microwave, since there is no kitchen. A block south is a beautiful neighborhood of Victorian homes.

Response from Catherine:
This unit, unlike all of our others in this 1871 heritage building, is a large bedroom, living room with queen size sofa bed, and a bathroom. There is a long hallway that adjoins the two rooms and both the bedroom and the living room have their own French doors with privacy drapes so perfect for 1-4 people. There is a mini fridge, coffeemaker, teapot, coffee, tea, and a microwave. For this upscale and glamorous suite our introductory nightly rate is extremely attractive.

This suite is so beautifully designed - everywhere you look there's thoughtful touches that make it special. The bed is insanely comfortable, with a very large pull out futon/couch in the living room (comments were that the springs on this were a little uncomfortable but both friends still slept very well and it was very spacious). The location is the key selling points - a 10 minute stroll to Byward Market and 20 minutes to Parliament Hill. Parking next door was convenience and only $10 for 24 hours. Check-in was very smooth! Check-out was on-the-dot 11am ... but that's absolutely fine when there's a city to explore right on your doorstep. This was the perfect location for a short stay in Ottawa - 100% recommend! :)

When I travel and stay in private homes I expect to have all the basics available (like spices, coffee, tea, sugar, bathroom tissue, laundry soap) as well as finding the kitchen to have an abundance of pots/pans, knives, serving bowls, baking sheets, casserole dishes, etc.

Since I have found this is not always the case, I understand how disappointing that can be, so I tend to go overboard and offer everything I can think of!

I am a retired interior designer and a Cordon Bleu grand diplome chef. I have taken my training and experience from these two fields and applied it to offering the best accommodation for my guests, including a well-stocked kitchen! :-))
