About this listing
Historic Brooklyn and contemporary eco-design meet in our truly gorgeous townhouse. Come home to a picturesque, tree- and brownstone-lined street in the heart of Prospect Heights. Enjoy your king-sized bed and private bath, steps from Prospect Park.
A bookshelf and 2 closets allow you to really settle in. Also, check out the mini-fridge and coffee pot!
We have just competed renovating a green and gorgeous townhouse in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. We've stocked our beautiful, sunlit guest room with everything you might need on your visit—a king sized bed, black-out blinds, a desk (just in case you're here for business—though we hope you're here for fun!), a mini-fridge and coffee pot, and wifi. You'll have a private bath and we provide towels.
As ten-year residents of the city, we're very happy to give all manner of restaurant and activity recommends.
You have access to your room and private bath. As this is a share, and one of us often works from home, we ask that guests please not use the main floor (living room and/or kitchen).
Interaction with Guests
We are both from large families (we have 11 siblings between the two of us), so we enjoy sharing spaces. A big perk for us is meeting and chatting with people from all over the globe. Depending on how busy we are, you may see a little or a lot of us—but we'll surely try to share a drink together during your stay!
This is the ideal place from which to explore New York City's best borough. If you don't know the area, the neighborhood is chock full of lovely Brownstones and trendy restaurants.
We're a 5 minute walk to Prospect Park (Brooklyn's Central Park), and a 15 minute walk to the Barclay's Center, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
The house is located near 4 trains (2,3,Q, & B) and just a 30 minute ride from Manhattan.
Other Things to Note
Our house does have a couple permanent house guests, our small and very cute parrot, Butch and our new puppy. Butch will offer you the occasional friendly, "hello!", and the puppy is very small and hypo-allergenic for those of you who are prone to sniffles.
If green is your thing, this is the house for you. Our home uses "net zero" energy with a large solar array, rainwater collection, LED lighting, north-facing clerestory skylights, etc. If you stay with us, it would be our pleasure to tell you all about it!
Please treat the house well! Please don't put wet things (like towels) on wood, please use coasters... you know the drill. Oh, and don't put your fingers in the parrot's cage: he's a sweetheart to us, but he does bite people he doesn't know. We ask that you don't wear shoes inside. Also, no overnight guests who aren't part of your party! No smoking in the house or on the stoop.
Check in time is after working hours (or before if we don't have other guests staying with us the previous night). Check out time is before noon on your last day.
Our stay could not have been better. Claire & Russell were very forthcoming and easy going hosts. As the pictures suggest, the room is spacious and well light. The brownstone house is skillfully renovated and nicely furnished. It is in an excellent location near Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum and two blocks from Subway station.
we can recommend Claire's home to anyone planning to visit New York. The room was light and airy. Beautiful views of the street and a large and comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and all you needed was in place. Claire and her husband were very nice and helpful. We tried their tips on restaurants in the area and they were really good! Super cozy and safe neighborhood near the subway and the park! Nice to come back from Manhattan to Brooklyn calm. They also had a nice dog who was very friendly! If we ever come back to NY we will stay here again!
We can really recommend this suite. It is a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay in a hip and safe neighbourhood with many possibilities to eat and have cup of coffee. Also the subway and Prospect park are closeby. Claire is very helpfull and quick in response. Many thanks for the great stay!
What a nice room in a beautiful house with wooden floors and staircase.
What a peaceful atmosphere and welcome by the owners.
What a good choice for our first Airbnb.
We could live in the neighbourhood .... after visiting the city, it feels like coming home at night.
Thank you Claire and Russell, maybe one day we'll meet again !
All in all: 10/10.
Claire and Russell were easygoing and welcoming and we enjoyed our stay with them as well as doggie Blanche and the wolf-whistling African parrot, Butch. The bed was almost too comfortable - you won't want to get out of it in the morning - especially if if it's cold outside, which is easy to see though the big bay windows. The neighbourhood is safe and walkable - lots of dogs and lots of babies in prams - and the subway is close for when we were heading into Manhattan. It's easy to get to almost anywhere. We found a great Cuban restaurant on Flatbush, Trini roti on Washington, and a cool bar just up the road from the house for when you just want to kick back a bit.
