Interaction with Guests
We live in Vancouver, BC and mostly we will interact with guest remotely. We are confident in our good friend and property manager Jose Luis who lives and works nearby and will be there to greet you when you arrive and to make any arrangements you may require during your stay.
When you book with us you'll be provided with Jose's contact information. He is currently offering a pick up and drop off to and from the airport for $45.00 USD or an equivalent amount in pesos. You will also be sent information about this offer.
The neighbourhood is easy to access however it is a few minutes walk to the south part of Old Town. This removes you a bit from the bustle of downtown but with the advantage of being right there. And the views are so spectacular from this neighbourhood. There is a wonderful mix of locals and tourists here and you get a better feel for being in Mexico than in a more exclusive area such as an all inclusive resort.
When you are not in the condo, you'll find town and beach just moments away - and on foot. Check out our location on the map and you'll find that the famous Los Muertos Beach, the brand new Pier, seaside restaurants and the world famous Malecon (which is spanish for a stone-built walkway along a waterfront) is easily with walking distance.
Driving is hardly necessary, but there is a parking lot for your vehicle if you need one. Cabs are inexpensive and easily the best way to get back to the condo after a long day or if you have lots to carry. Another great way to get around is by bus. The fare currently stands at 7.50 pesos (about 50 US or Canadian cents). In-town buses that head north towards the airport can be found by walking 5 minutes down the highway. Our parking lot is conveniently a bus stop with buses on their way to Mismaloya, the Botanical Gardens and lots of other interesting points of interest to the south.
Other Things to Note
- Please inquire if you are interested in booking for an extended period for possible discounts. NOTE:
The street view is not accurate. It shows part of old town close to us but since our condo is off the highway, this view should not be considered when booking.
We are okay with small pets and a deposit may be required. Common sense applies here and the pet must be on a lease at all time when outside the condo on common ground. Promptly clean up after your pet. Many of the occupants of the condominium are owners and believe us when we say if you don't pick up, we'll be the first to know about it!
Smoking is allowed but please do it outside on the patio
Please use the air conditioner with discretion. If you have the doors open, please turn it off. Nights are quite often cool, so overnight if you slide the locking metal gates closed and also close the sliding screen doors, you can do without. Plus you get to hear the sounds of the ocean!
Easy to find, comfortable, and outstanding views. I would recommend.
Thank you so much Doug and Herb for sharing your fabulous condo with us! It was even more lovely than we imagined. The balcony views were wonderful and it was great to be within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, and the water. Jose was very attentive to us and it made getting to the condo very easy. Thanks again!

We enjoyed our stay at Doug and Herbs lovely condo. Its convenient location and great views. Jose was attentive and responsive.
We would return without a doubt.
Doug and Herb's apartment is beautiful - we loved staying here. It's very spacious, comfortable and well equipped with towels, beach chairs, kitchenware and a big water dispenser provided.
This place has the 'wow' factor - the views are great and the balcony is a lovely spot to watch the sunset. Getting down to the beach and Zona Romantica is easy and if you feel too lazy to take the steps on the way home, there's always a taxi!
Doug and Herb were very friendly and welcoming and gave us lots of helpful advice - both in advance of our arrival and when we got there. Thank you very much - we love your place!
I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during my 3 week stay! Felt like home!... The view is amazing And the location is perfect. The host have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Doug and Herb seem so friendly and any time I messaged them they got back to me right away. They're property manager was awesome as well. Even helped me get a cab to the airport when I left. It was an honor to be in their beautiful home!
Thanks for everything!
A perfect place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. It's exactly as advertised and the location is really great. Less than 5 minutes down to the beach and maybe slightly more than 5 minutes down to all the shops, restaurants, and bars in Zona Romantica. It's on the main road, but the units all face the back of the building so there is no road noise and you get a spectacular view of the town, the ocean, and sunsets. The large lower level patio is great if you want to lay around on a chaise and read a book or eat meals at the large outdoor dining table.
The unit came with a lot of little extras that are really nice. We appreciated the 5 gallon water bottle / dispenser, lots of towels, and the beach chairs that double as backpacks (love those)!
It came with a couple local cell phones as well, but we didn't even bother to use them. The wifi worked very well and basically every restaurant and bar in town offers free wifi (look for a sign posted with the password or ask). So if you use iMessage a lot like we do (or something like WhatsApp), you can pretty much do that for free by just putting your phone in airplane mode the whole time you're there and using wifi.
Doug & Herb were fantastic hosts. Their prompt responses and attention to detail made booking their space simple, straightforward and stress-free. Their charming casa on the cusp of old town PV has plenty of Mexican charm, and a stunning ocean view of nearly the entire bay - and there is something to be said for waking up to that every morning. While the beach was not far, the building is nestled into the hillside, so the walk home could be challenging for some, particularly at night... but this is a small price to pay for the stunning view of the city and bay. The building is well-maintained, and Doug & Herb's property manager Jose was outstanding. He ran us by the market to pick up some groceries upon arrival, and even helped us with transportation to the second place we were staying in town. I would recommend Doug & Herb's space to anyone seeking the option of avoiding the hustle and bustle of staying right downtown PV, and who wants all the standard amenities of home, but with some rustic Mexican charm.

About the Host, Doug & Herb
Doug and Herb are Canadians who live in Vancouver, British Columbia.
We both are recently retired after working in the fitness industry for a few decades. We used to own the neighbourhood gym just a block away from our Vancouver home so we know this neighbourhood very well. If you are considering staying at our Garden Suite in Vancouver, we'd love to welcome you here.
We've been travelling to Puerto Vallarta for many years and we love our second home there. When we are not there, we are happy to share it with airbnb guests so they can enjoy the great weather and awesome views our condo offers.
This corner is where we go for our fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses. You can buy a bit every couple of days and carry it home or buy larger amounts and take a taxi (60 pesos) back to the condo.Lázaro Cárdenas Puerto Vallarta JAL 48380
This is a large very Mexican supermarket that we visit now and then for large purchases. A nice walk to get there and about 60-80 peso to get a cab ride back with your groceries.Uruguay Puerto Vallarta JAL 48350
Its a very big grocery store we go to for big ticket items like bulk beer and wine and liquor. Household items, electronics etc. Youd have to take the bus to get there and a cab back.Febronio Uribe Puerto Vallarta JAL 48333
