Charming beach bungalow by the sea. A rustic all wooden Javanese joglo restored and improved with large bathroom, lovely veranda and surrounding gardens. Everything ( beach, great surf, retaurants, pool, small shops, local market ) is close by and easily accessible by foot. The best place for all level surfing and relaxation.

The Space

Attention: the rental prices listed are over 50% off normal rates due to construction happening next door. The evenings are fine, and usually the daytime is too but on some days there can be some noise. Most guests are at the beach or pool area during the day so it's not often a problem. But you should know this before booking, especially if you are going to want to spend lots of time inside the room during the day...........................................................................

Bungalow for rent on one of bali's best kept secret beaches. next to miles of secluded black sand beaches with great surf.

*Spacious comfortable bedroom with double and single bed (sleeps three)
*large clean bathroom
*ceiling fan and standing fan
*safety box
*relaxing veranda
* private garden
*fully equipped kitchen with free water (separate building in the large pool area)
*pool
* maid service
*most consistent surf in Bali (in the world!) and uncrowded empty beaches for non surfers to

beautifully restored javanese wood style joglo (bungalows). very mellow place and friendly village up the hill. ideal for couples, families, surfers, eco friendly travelers, and non-party animals. this place is special!

The main surf break is about a 60 second walk away. There are several good restaurants minutes away. Great fresh seafood can be had at the little warungs right on the beach and eaten while you watch the sunset.

Beach is great for running, frolicking, splashing in the waves, surfing, long walks, shell and beach glass hunting and crab chasing. This area is where people come to from other parts of Bali to get away and relax. Quiet, simple, and beautiful yet comfortable enough that you will not want to leave. We didn't!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Oliver's bungalow in Balian Beach. Richard enjoyed the surfing and Oliver's help with the use of a surfboard. The bungalow was cleaned and the bed made up daily, and it was very private. The pool was clean, and I seemed to be the only person using it. It was also lovely to be able to sit and use the pool at the resort down on the beach. Shower was cold, and in the heat of Bali was not a problem. There were plenty of places to eat cheaply, in easy walking distance. There was good, instant hot, water in the kitchen. Easy to make my morning cup of tea. The fridge /freezer we had the use of worked really well.

  • If you are looking to get out of the tourist heavy kuta or ubud areas, then Oliver's place is for you!
    Oliver was fantastic! As he was not there when we arrived, someone else met us and really helped us settle in. Oliver and his daughter showed up a few days later and it was so great to put a face with a name after all of our correspondence. He was extremely helpful. The house was lovely and exactly as the pictures are. There is no aircon but the fans provided were quite powerful and made it comfortable to sleep. We were expecting the construction to be overwhelming, however, we barely noticed it most of the day. The beach was a very a short walk and had great surf. There were several restaurants all within walking distance all which had food that was a mix of traditional balinese and western. (We highly recommend the pineapple pancakes from the restaurant closest to the house). Thank you Oliver, we truly had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience!

  • We had a wonderful week in Oli's bungalow - far from the tourist crowds (seriously, the place isn't too quick to get to), quiet, close to the beach (just amble through the garden and you're pretty much there), rustic, lovely. There pretty much wasn't anyone around, so we had the entire property to ourselves and met a couple of other travellers at the nearby hotel and restaurants.

    Never having met Oli in person, I can say that he looked after us really well nonetheless, through his proxies and via email. Yande (the driver) and Arsa (the caretaker) are total gems and helped us get sorted out and oriented. Oli also gave us some great tips as to things to do.

    Just a note - bring a lot of mosquito repellent. Seriously. A lot. We couldn't find any to buy at the nearest minimarket, so we ended up driving 10km to fill up our supplies.

    Neither of us surf, but we didn't mind just having quiet time and doing day trips on the scooter, but if you don't like creating your own adventures, you could get frustrated I guess. We loved it though.

  • good bungalow rustic and sweet. a lot of details so nice (showers, doors...)
    good spot for yoga & surf.
    only just in front of the house, a other house to building, is unpleasant...

  • We enjoyed our three-night stay at the bungalow. It's a very simple accommodation, clean and charming in its own way--nice enough if you come to Balian for a couple of days to surf or just chill. We liked the cozy veranda, the kitchen (although shared) and the tidy garden (with gorgeous flowers).
    Well-thought-out: towels, mosquito nets, two fans, a safe, enough electrical outlets in the room.
    The staff were very good, and we also appreciated that they were flexible about when we checked out. (The place also had a friendly cat when we were there :)
    The beautiful beach with black volcanic sand and great waves is indeed very close (you can't see the ocean, but you can hear it). So are a couple of restaurants, which is convenient (you don't have to use a motorbike so much to get around).

  • The Bungalow is very sweet and the little garden is really wonderful. Thanks for the little paradise.
    The only problem was that next door was built. Unfortunately, it was not actually very quiet so we stay all the time there. Would that not have been, it would be a little paradise.

    Thanks.
