Modern, architect-designed house, (designed to resemble a small cluster of traditional houses and to blend with the landscape). Bright & airy 3-bedroom house; There is one double bedroom available. Easy access to shore..., only a few yards from the house. Adjacent bathroon, w power-shower. Wifi, TV, ample parking. Stays of over one week's duration by special arrangement only..
Stunning views, almost 360 degrees..Facing south across the waters of Clew Bay to Croagh Patrick, south-west to Old Head and further west to Clare Island; Right on the shore of Clew Bay, sea-swimming directly from the house. Soft-pebbly beach. Horse-riding stables within half a mile. Golf & rugy clubs 1 mile away; Sailing Club 2 miles away. Weekly racing, skippers often looking for crew. Wonderful walking trails, and a wide variety of cycle paths right on the doorstep. Westport's famous Greenway only 5 Km away, towards town.. Cycle from the house or from Westport all the way to Achill on a cycle path!
Westport was recently awarded accolade of "Best Place to Live in Ireland". Perfect location for exploring North and South Mayo & Connemara. Ideal for those attending outdoor challenge events, eg Gaelforce West, Sea2Summit , etc. Eventeers welcome!
Westport town only 7 Km away. Best town in Ireland for family shops of character, variety and quality; high quality, reasonably-priced restaurants and cafes. Farm produce at weekly market. Excellent pubs, with lots of music, traditional and all varieties. The most famous Westport pub is probably Matt Molloy's, (of Chieftains fame). Or have a wonderful day in Westport House! Lots of indoor activities, including the Leisure Centre and the cinema.. All in all, the perfect place to stay!
Apart from the bedroom and adjacent bathroom, which is for guests' exclusive use, guests will have access to the kitchen / dining area, plus a small middle area or "sun-room".. most guests like to leave the house in the morning and return in the evening...and often to head out for a meal, or a music session a little later.. access to the sun -room is available for short--periods, but not really for day-long or other long periods... the house is too open-plan for that to work well..
I hope I am friendly and helpful, and I have been told that I am, which is nice...and I definitely like to have some conversation with guests, but I have learned that it is not possible to be totally personally available for long conversations with all guests only because that is impossible to sustain..
If guests are using the kitchen, I like for us all to arrange times when we would like to cook.. so that guests have the kitchen to themselves for their meal and, either before or after that, I can cook separately in my own time as well..
Given enough notice, I can arrange art classes for groups of eight to ten people.. and can sort out accommodation for all.. two people in my double room and others elsewhere locally.. Classes will be given by well-known artist Breda Burns.. a great artist and a great teacher.. I know, because I've been at her (beginner!) classes!
It's a wonderful house with an amazing view!
Elizabeth is such a nice person and is very helpful.
We felt very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
We can definitely recommend it!
We had a great time at Elizabeths house - it looks amazing on the photos already but in real life with the afternoon sun coming in through the windows in the kitchen and middle room, the views on clew bay and croagh patrick were just beyond compare. Elizabeth was away by the time we arrived but everything was arranged for us and we would definitely recommend her place when searching for a fantastic location around westport!
Beautiful house and you feel at home! Lovely healthy breakfast and Elizabeth kept in good contact to make sure all was ok for our arrival at the house. Privacy is well respected and tourist info available for the goings on in the area. Recommend for those who want to stay in a beautiful home you could imagine being your own for a night or 2!
Best b&b in Ireland. The house looks amazing and Helen is a wonderful host. Highly recommended!
Elizabeth has a wonderful house. Very peaceful and relaxing location on the Altantic ocean. She is very nice, kind and friendly host. She provided us a very good breakfast and we could use all the spaces of the house (wonderful kitchen included!). The room is huge and the bed was the best of our Irish trip. We recommend this accomodation.
We LOVED staying in Elizabeth's Westport home! She was the best hostess. Her home is beautiful-- we loved sipping tea and eating breakfast while looking out at the water, and we definitely had our own large space. Elizabeth had great tips and advice about the area, was incredibly helpful with insider info, and was lovely to chat with. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
Elizabeth has been a lovely and uncomplicated host. We stayed for two nights in her amazing house near Westport and really felt like at home. We would recommend staying here to anyone who wants to enjoy the amazing view, the cosy atmosphere and, of course, Elizabeth's friendliness.
Excellent place to stay in Westport. Stunning house, amazing views of the water and islands, and an incredible breakfast that included local jams/breads and much more. Elizabeth was very helpful. We had booked only a few days prior to staying here and she was able to take us in. Elizabeth went out of her way to help us access the wi-fi to e-mail friends/family back home, greeted us with tea/coffee, and we had an excellent breakfast awaiting us in the morning. I would highly recommend staying at Elizabeth's house!
Staying with Elizabeth at her beautiful house was a treat. The room was clean and neat and stocked with info on the area. Elizabeth gave us the run of the house, including the kitchen so we could cook for ourselves.
We were also very pleased that she provided access to composting and recycling - not something you always see.
If you are visiting the Westport area, do not hesitate to book with Elizabeth.
Staying in Elizabeth's home was magical. It is located on the outskirts of Westpot right on clew bay. The views were spectacular. Elizabeth was a wonder host, and was very helpful in recommending things to explore in her area. We enjoyed her company and had many interesting conversations around her kitchen table. Would definitely recommend staying at her home.
