About this listing
In the northern outskirts of Bandung city in the Dago Atas hutan (forest), Rumah Wolfard is a beautiful two-storey home open to travelers wishing to experience the serenity, simplicity and verdant beauty of Bandung's kampung (village).
The light-filled guestroom on the bottom floor has a comfy double bed and forest views. Drawing back the curtains to reveal a kaleidoscope of green and misty mountains is a glorious way to start the day. The spacious guest bathroom with double sink and Western shower and toilet is on the same floor. The comfy living area and shared kitchen is modern and fully-equipped, and the kettle is always on the boil for tea and exceptional local coffee.
In Kampung Bengkok children fly kites atop rolling green hills, at dusk the mountains are shrouded in mist and the sounds of the city are replaced with a chorus of insects, bird calls and suling (traditional Sundanese flute), which you can hear from the balcony as it drifts in on the wind. The absolute highlight of Rumah Wolfard is the expansive balcony with breathtaking forest views and various spaces for relaxing. It’s the perfect place for reading, watching village life below, and enjoying Aisah’s delicious Indonesian and Western cuisine. As one guest wrote in a review, "the balcony is inspiring."
As Rumah Wolfard is in a kampung there is no main road direct access, so the hosts can meet you at the top of the path, which is about 0.5km and somewhat steep. A taxi from central Bandung to the top of the path takes about 15 minutes (or 20 in heavy traffic) and should cost no more than 40,000 IR. Please discuss taxi directions with Aisah. Pick up from the airport or train station can also be arranged.
Interaction with guests
Interaction with guests is the focus of Rumah Wolfard, as the kitchen is always buzzing with life and the balcony is where meals are served. Aisah and Vincent also offer Basa Sunda and Bahasa Indonesia lessons, as well as a range of other activities such as guided walks through the kampung and to nearby Dago Curug Waterfall. They are also happy to provide information about the surrounding area, tours and transport.
You must have a sense of adventure!
I love meeting new people that is the main reason my i have been opening my home for travelers. Cooking is my passion as well as traveling, singing and watching movies. My favorite travel destination is Europe because twice a year me and my husband (dutch man) visit our family there. I like every kind of book as long as it's light, not too heavy and make my day. As a woman my favorite movie is drama but i also like watching any genre too. How i love listening to Ben Howard, Jack Johnston, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and singing along with pop music especially from the 90's. I am a food addict ! I love eating and doing gastronomic journey :).
Backpacking is totally my style, getting to know people with their culture and tradition. I would like to show how Bandung's life in Kampung ( village ).
