Beautiful pine cabin in the woods of Tahoma. Main floor consists of living room with beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace, kitchen, bedroom (1 Queen), and full bathroom (shower only, no tub). Upstairs is a full-floor attic bedroom (4 Twin) with a half-bath. Non-sleeper sofa in living room or additional air mattress (not included) could potentially accommodate one or two additional guests for a total of seven or eight. Brand new (installed 11/15/11) gas furnace heats the place comfortably.
Just four blocks from the lake and a short drive to many North and West-Shore ski destinations (Homewood is about 1 mile away), this cabin is right where you want to be in any season; close to fun activities but removed enough to feel like you've escaped. The neighborhood market (PDQ) makes the best sandwiches on earth, has a great selection of DVD rentals perfect for snowy nights, and provides easy access to essentials if you find yourself in need.
A portion of your reservation fee will be donated to Friends of West Shore, a non-profit organization benefitting the preservation of Tahoe's West Shore communities, and to The League to Save Lake Tahoe, an organization that works with California and Nevada government agencies to protect the habitat of the Tahoe Basin.
Please note: second floor is accessed by an attic staircase, not handicap or pet accessible.
This is a great place to stay! Interior is rustic and a little old fashioned but it's got great character. We stayed for 2 nights in Feb and really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again!
Cole was very responsive and left great instructions. He also accommodated early check-in. Thanks, Cole!
I was a little disappointed by this cabin. In 30 degree weather, it's very difficult to warm it up without firewood. The furniture felt aged and outdated. And I would suggest replacing the mattresses. The kitchen is very small and the toilet on the main floor would choose to be uncooperative at random intervals.
We liked the Fire Sign Cafe, which was only a 15-minute drive away. And I appreciate that the cabin is dog-friendly.
Four of us stayed here for a 2 night/3 day ski trip and absoutly loved it. It is small and outdated... but in a tastfule way, it has so much charm. Its well stocked with everything you need to keep up ~6 people comfortable and entertained. Just bring food/beverages/firewood/outdoor gear and you're bound to have a memerable trip! Perfect location for any West Shore activities.
The cabin was great. Reasonably priced, really well supplied and perfect for a couple or even two couples. We really enjoyed coming in from a day out and sitting in front of the open fire - a perfect little home from home.
Cole was very quick to answer any questions we had too. We'll definitely be back.
Take his advice, the sandwiches from the nearby PDQ market are amazing. Other great things to do nearby are the short trail to the top of Eagle Rock - stunning views - and brunch at the Fire Sign Cafe. We also went kayaking on the lake, which is spectacular, even in winter.
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Instructions to operate the house were simple and effective. The house was clean and comfortable. The fireplace was lovely. The attic was kind of cute, but not an easy access. It would have been great for older kids, but not too much for aging parents :) Only thing I would have a question about is where to put trash outside and whether we have to take precaution for bears. Also, the kitchen seemed to lack the ventilation. We had to leave the windows wide open while cooking. Overall, it was a great experience.
Cole's cabin was perfect. It's a cozy place and had plenty of room for the four of us. The upstairs loft was quite roomy and provided a retreat area for anyone looking to nap or retire to watch movies/etc. Our two children had plenty of room up there and there was a 1/2 bath which was very nice. The little city of Tahoma provided a great getaway for family fun time. Small market with everything you might need. We stayed for three nights and only left the cabin twice. We would absolutely stay here again!
Great, cozy house! Totally accessible, easy trip and easy rental experience. Would definitely rent again. Quiet & cozy.
Overall, awesome experience. If you are looking for a quiet, cozy cabin that is walking distance from the lake, Cole's Cabin is perfect.
We rented the cabin for the weekend of December 13-15th to celebrate my 30th birthday. Cole was very attentive in answering my questions and concerns ahead of time, and was very kind in accommodating our arrival and departure times.
The cabin was easy to find, and is conveniently located close to a small market if you should forget anything or need more firewood. The downstairs was cozy, and since it was just the two of use, we only used the downstairs bedroom. But if you have two to three kids, they could easily sleep upstairs and have their own bathroom.
The kitchen and pantry are very well stocked (it had everything we needed except baking powder and soda, which we forgot to bring!) There is a DVD player with stereo sound, X-box (Grand Theft Auto yo!), tons of games (dominos, cards, poker chips), DVDs (I really liked "Life in a Day"), local photo books, etc.
As a native Los Angeleno, I'd say that it does get cold in the cabin--we had the heater and space heaters on and went through 6 bundles of firewood in one weekend!
In sum, I'm very happy we chose Cole's Cabin, he was a helpful host from start to finish.
The house was very nice and clean. Instructions provided were detailed and very helpful. Everything was in working condition. We played board games and watched The Golden Girls. An enjoyable stay and would most definitely return.
My husband and I (and our dog) had a fabulous weekend getaway! The cabin itself was perfect for us and I'd highly recommend it. We hope to make it back again soon!
