Quaint West Shore Tahoe Cabin

Cabin - Entire home/apt · 10th Ave, Tahoma, CA 96142, United States

The Space

Beautiful pine cabin in the woods of Tahoma. Main floor consists of living room with beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace, kitchen, bedroom (1 Queen), and full bathroom (shower only, no tub). Upstairs is a full-floor attic bedroom (4 Twin) with a half-bath. Non-sleeper sofa in living room or additional air mattress (not included) could potentially accommodate one or two additional guests for a total of seven or eight. Brand new (installed 11/15/11) gas furnace heats the place comfortably.

Just four blocks from the lake and a short drive to many North and West-Shore ski destinations (Homewood is about 1 mile away), this cabin is right where you want to be in any season; close to fun activities but removed enough to feel like you've escaped. The neighborhood market (PDQ) makes the best sandwiches on earth, has a great selection of DVD rentals perfect for snowy nights, and provides easy access to essentials if you find yourself in need.

A portion of your reservation fee will be donated to Friends of West Shore, a non-profit organization benefitting the preservation of Tahoe's West Shore communities, and to The League to Save Lake Tahoe, an organization that works with California and Nevada government agencies to protect the habitat of the Tahoe Basin.

Please note: second floor is accessed by an attic staircase, not handicap or pet accessible.

  • Cole is a perfect host, so friendly and responsive! The cabin was wonderful! So charming and cozy, we immediately felt at home. We needed chains to get in one of the days, just so you know. It's in a beautiful place near the lake. You and your family will love it!

  • Quaint - the operable word for this cabin.. Cole's home on the West Shore of Tahoe was a really ideal place for myself and a few friends to call home for a brief weekend of snowboarding. We had a group of 5, and we all found the stay to be memorable. Cole was a very responsive host; and although the instructions for the stay were lengthy, they were clear and helpful. I will certainly look forward to other opportunities to enjoy this cabin, again!

  • We enjoyed using the fireplace and getting cozy inside of the Sly-Don-Inn. Everything was comfortable and as advertised. Kitchen is small and was difficult to have more than one person in there cooking at a time. Getting to the attic was fun at first but a bit of a hassle after awhile. Hope this doesn't sound negative as overall we had a great time during our stay and enjoyed Cole's cabin.

  • Great little cabin close to Homewood Ski, Tahoe City and perfect for our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Cole was responsive and accommodating and we really like that a portion of the rental fee was donated to Keeping Tahoe Blue!

  • This is a great place to stay! Interior is rustic and a little old fashioned but it's got great character. We stayed for 2 nights in Feb and really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again!

  • Cole was very responsive and left great instructions. He also accommodated early check-in. Thanks, Cole!

I was a little disappointed by this cabin. In 30 degree weather, it's very difficult to warm it up without firewood. The furniture felt aged and outdated. And I would suggest replacing the mattresses. The kitchen is very small and the toilet on the main floor would choose to be uncooperative at random intervals.

We liked the Fire Sign Cafe, which was only a 15-minute drive away. And I appreciate that the cabin is dog-friendly.

  • Four of us stayed here for a 2 night/3 day ski trip and absoutly loved it. It is small and outdated... but in a tastfule way, it has so much charm. Its well stocked with everything you need to keep up ~6 people comfortable and entertained. Just bring food/beverages/firewood/outdoor gear and you're bound to have a memerable trip! Perfect location for any West Shore activities.

  • The cabin was great. Reasonably priced, really well supplied and perfect for a couple or even two couples. We really enjoyed coming in from a day out and sitting in front of the open fire - a perfect little home from home.

Cole was very quick to answer any questions we had too. We'll definitely be back.

Take his advice, the sandwiches from the nearby PDQ market are amazing. Other great things to do nearby are the short trail to the top of Eagle Rock - stunning views - and brunch at the Fire Sign Cafe. We also went kayaking on the lake, which is spectacular, even in winter.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Instructions to operate the house were simple and effective. The house was clean and comfortable. The fireplace was lovely. The attic was kind of cute, but not an easy access. It would have been great for older kids, but not too much for aging parents :) Only thing I would have a question about is where to put trash outside and whether we have to take precaution for bears. Also, the kitchen seemed to lack the ventilation. We had to leave the windows wide open while cooking. Overall, it was a great experience.

  • Cole's cabin was perfect. It's a cozy place and had plenty of room for the four of us. The upstairs loft was quite roomy and provided a retreat area for anyone looking to nap or retire to watch movies/etc. Our two children had plenty of room up there and there was a 1/2 bath which was very nice. The little city of Tahoma provided a great getaway for family fun time. Small market with everything you might need. We stayed for three nights and only left the cabin twice. We would absolutely stay here again!

I'm originally from Marin County, and I moved to San Francisco in 2005. I now divide my time between San Francisco and the beautiful West Shore of Lake Tahoe. I enjoy traveling (34 countries and counting), running, and eating too much Mexican food (if there is such an amount — a theory still being rigorously tested). I'm the oldest of 6 kids and my family is very important to me.
