About this listing
Harvest Moon is your dream Bali villa. Elegant design, subtle gardens, a private pool and air-conditioning. Enjoy luxury with that traditional touch on your Bali holiday.
Coming to Bali to enjoy a taste of paradise? You’ve arrived at the right place.
Step from the air-conditioned master bedroom straight into your private Infinity Pool? Enjoy an elegantly backlit shower beneath waving bamboo trees above. Then luxuriate in the bathtub while water features splash around you.
Or simply lounge on the terrace in the biscuit lounge while you count the flowers in your private courtyard.
Designed by our dear friend Martje, a high-end fashion designer from Holland who came to Bali for a quieter life, staying at Harvest Moon is like living in a magazine.
The huge suite upstairs has traditionally thatched alung-alung roof and catches a gentle breeze as you sleep peacefully beneath the tailored mosquito net. Or sip a quiet drink from the balcony as fireflies flicker across the garden.
There's also a cosy outdoor 'bale' (pronounced bah-lay) which doubles as an inviting day bed for lounging and an intimate extra bedroom for al-fresco sleeping at night.
The staff cook you breakfast and make fresh coffee every morning in your modern kitchen on Modena stovetops. Bowls of fresh fruit and clean drinking water keep you going while you decide whether to spend the day by your private pool, lounge at the communal lap pool or head to Ubud for shopping, yoga or exploring the markets and temples.
On your return enjoy the cool evening air and appreciate the mood created by DeLighting’s lamps and feature lights. Relax on the day bed, the lounge or upstairs on the couch while you plan the evening’s activities or return to your book and wait for home delivery from many of the world class cafes in Ubud.
Harvest Moon comes with wifi, towels, a full kitchen, pool, 2 beds, 2 bathrooms and an outdoor bale with a third double bed. Donna Karen-inspired handmade furniture, sumptuous lighting by DeLighting, quiet, friendly staff and an onsite manager are also here to help you relax.
Nannys, recommendations for massage, yoga classes and other modalities, motorbikes, cars with drivers and tourist information is all available on request. If there's more you want then just ask!
Everything is available for you at Harvest Moon. Book now before someone else takes the dates! We’ve had guests who book Harvest Moon before their plane tickets - make sure you get your dates now. We look forward to welcoming you.
We've also been featured in a design blog and a model shoot.
The silver boxes you'll see at Harvest Moon were featured in a model shoot done on location:
And Ashley Muir Bruhn, a NY blogger who writes a design and lifestyle blog called Hither and Thither stayed at Harvest Moon in early 2013 and was blown away. Search for “hitherandthither welcome-to-ubud” to see what she has to say about travelling with her husband and her newly born son.
Every part of Harvest Moon is yours to enjoy. There's also a 14m lap pool with a deck and lounge chairs for you to enjoy. The kiddy splash pool is attached and a shady outdoor hut lets you watch your children while relaxing in style.
Interaction with Guests
Nik is our onsite manager. You'll probably hear from him before you arrive via email. He is an experienced tour guide and knows the sights and special places of Ubud better than anyone.
Honey Moon Villa is nestled in the tiny village of Lodtunduh. You may hear the temple bells in the morning, see the villagers walking to ceremony in their traditional dress, or simply observe village life as it takes place in the streets and in the rice fields. The Balinese are shy but friendly. Feel free to walk through the streets and pathways and explore this beautiful part of Bali.
Getting around is easy. We can arrange a driver to take you in to town or on tours, and if you're more adventurous a scooter is easy to hire. Ubud is just 4km away, and if you're really intent on doing nothing then all of the main restaurants will deliver to Harvest Moon Villa.
Other Things to Note
Dogs are common everywhere in Bali, and the compound where we live is no exception! Our designer loves animals to the extent that she and her husband would rescue frogs from the pool when Harvest Moon was being built. They have several dogs that they have adopted and cared for. They are friendly and the little yellow collars they wear signify that they have been given their shots.
Since Bali is a tropical paradise (and not an urban sprawl) you may encounter geckos, frogs, fireflies, dragonflies and other harmless animals. Our staff keep the villa extremely clean so other animals are not attracted to the house.
Since we are also in a rural area, noises from the field from rice farming, local temples and construction may carry across the fields. This is the paradox of visiting Bali - it’s a growing mix of modern and ancient which the Balinese themselves manage with a gentle and effortless smile. We trust you’ll experience this same attitude of gratitude to life that embodies the spiritual approach of the Balinese. It’s really what makes this island special.
The first rule is you must relax. After that everything else will take care of itself.
We don't advise smoking inside because the roof is a traditional alung-alung roof made of thatch. Thatch and fire don't mix well with houses. So we've installed mosquito repellants which work from the powerpoints and also ask you to refrain from burning candles.
There are other villas nearby all lovingly designed by the same architect. So we keep things quiet after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. You'll be so absorbed by the evening stars and the cool morning light you'll feel like it's the perfect way to be anyway.
And there are a few dogs which share the grounds with us. They have been adopted by the architect (who loves animals). They are well treated, fully vaccinated and definitely don't bite. As Bali dogs go they live like kings (and children love them).
Other than that my only request is that you treat my house like your own. It's a special place. I know you're going to love it :)
