About this listing
Turrock Cottage is situated along the Wicklow Way, with views over Sth Wicklow and Nth Wexford. The cottage is within a farmyard, and close to the house where we live. Ideal as a base for exploring SE Ireland or staying put and admiring the view.
Turrock is a beautiful granite stone cottage set in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. The views say it all and you will want to return to Turrock again and again.
It is a peaceful place with local forest walks where you can see deer, red squirrels, fox, hare and many birds. The cuckoo visits in early May.
The cottage is fully equipped as a self catering cottage. We have a woodland walk through our property that guests are welcome to explore. We provide a starter pack of fuel for the stove (wood and peat) and fuel is available for purchase in the shop in Shillelagh village. The starter pack will keep you going for a couple of days.

Other Things to Note
Internet access is intermittent at the cottage. It is not always available, depending on the weather, storms, high winds etc.
We do not allow pets as we have animals on our farm. There is no smoking allowed inside the cottage.
We like our guests to respect the surroundings and be mindful that we are in a farming community where there is livestock all around. The cottage is not suitable for large groups of people/parties. It is more suited to guests looking for a quiet getaway or romantic break.
A lovely welcome with fresh scones and newly laid eggs. Worth the drive as it was in a delightful setting. We particularly appreciated the electric blankets for the chilly weather
We had a wonderful time staying at Turrock Cottage situated on a little slice of Irish paradise. Hosts, Dierdre and Ciaran, greeted us warmly upon arrival and showed us the ins and outs of the cottage which is a very lovely cottage. They both were very approachable and gave suggestions on things to do around Co. Wicklow and I feel we would never have stumbled upon some of the local treasures unless they pointed us in the direction. All in all a great experience!
We had a fantastic long weekend at Turrock Cottage. The cottage is beautiful, having being recently renovated. Everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away from the city, the cottage had it. It is well equipped, cosy, and surrounded by peaceful countryside. Our hosts, Deirdre and Ciaran were excellent. They warmly welcomed us when we arrived, and with fresh scones! Having them nearby the cottage, and they always being happy to chat, was very helpful for getting tips on activities in the area. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Turrock Cottage and we only hope we can visit again in the future.
Lovely house and a very welcoming host. Perfect accommodation for a wedding in Ballybeg House
Cottage was fantastic and had everything we needed. The scenery was great - we just wish we had longer to make the most of it. Deirdre was a wonderful host and had everything prepared for our arrival.
Deirdre was an excellent host and made us feel welcome. The cottage was even nicer than the images suggest. A true gem with beautifully done up interior. We were lucky to stay during 2 days of pure sunshine and were able to enjoy the outside a lot - the farm is charming and very peaceful, the surrounding area absolutely gorgeous. We all had a great time and are very thankful to Deirdre and Ciaran for opening their farm and guest house to us! Highly recommended place!!!
We immediately felt at home in your colourful cottage, which obviously has been styled by heart and with many individual rooms and lovely details.
It was really comfortable even for four persons.
We had much fun with the lively hens, gooses and other animals on the yard, and we really enjoyed the beautiful and wide view around your farm and the "wood-walk" on your land.
Your hospitality and your love for Irish nature and music inspired us very much.
We are really pleased that we discovered you and your charming home.
Staying here was as it is described in the Irish song "Come by the hills to the land, where fancy is free..."
