Interaction with Guests
I will meet you with the key and show you up to the apartment. I will be available on the telephone or via email to answer queries.
Darlinghurst is vibrant, bustling and always interesting, night and day. It's walking distance to Hyde Park and the city, just around the corner from buses to Circular Quay, Clovelly, Maroubra and Bondi beaches, and close to Museum railway station. Neighbouring Surry Hills with its excellent cafes and restaurants offering all styles of food is at your doorstep.
Public transport by bus is on Oxford Street, metres away. Museum railway station is about 10 minutes walk away. Central railway station is 15-20 minute walk, quite steep uphill walk coming from the station.
No pets. No smoking. Maximum two people. Usual check in is after 2pm, and usual check out is by 10am. Earlier check in (including leaving luggage) and later check out is not necessarily available but will be considered on a case by case basis.
As no cleaning fee is charged guests are asked to leave the apartment in a clean and tidy condition - thanks!
If you have had an excellent time, please leave me a review. If there are any issues - please don't hesitate to let me know privately!
Bert met us at the apartment as planned, very friendly and took us round the apartment and the local area. Bert had supplied milk and fruit which was very welcome. The apartment was clean and perfectly met our needs. Darlinghurst is a lovely area with shops and cafes. there were a couple of negatives which were - the balcony doors didn't shut completely and being on the 17th floor the noise at night from the streets and roads was quite bad and black out or darker blinds would have been welcome as the sun came up quite early. Overall we would recommend.
I'm sorry you had those problems Victoria, and just wish you had raised the doors issue with me whilst you were staying. One door is stiff and heavy to move although both doors do shut and lock - I would have been happy to come and helped you with this if you had let me know. One door does need some work done on it (I have been chasing the building manager since early February to have this done), but it still locks.
The location is busy inner city so there is street noise. And the floor to ceiling windows face east and do get the morning sun, although I find the blinds and curtains sufficient, and none of the 50+ other guests has mentioned this as a problem. But for prospective guests reading this review - Surry Hills is a busy, vibrant area with quite a bit of night life, and there is street noise even on the 17th floor. I generally manage to have a sound night sleep when I'm there though, as does my light-sleeper partner.
Again, sorry you couldn't rate my apartment as highly as other guests, but glad that overall you were happy to recommend it.
Perfekter Aufenthalt an bester Lage in Sydney!
Bert's flat is well located for touring Sydney. It is a short bus trip to Circular Quay for The Rocks, harbour ferries & Opera House. It is only a short walk to Museum station with fast connection to the Airport.
Bert was quick and effective in prebooking communication. After showing us around the apartment, he gave us a 15+ minute tour of the area including best places to eat, groceries, etc. This was very helpful in orienting to the surrounds.
The flat itself is bijou but well laid out for two. There is sufficient cooking facilities if you want to eat in. But there are scores of reasonably priced (for Sydney) ethnic restaurants and cafes around the area. There are picnic tables on the roof with great 360 views of Sydney.
Bert (and Alastair) made us very welcome and even gave us a neighbourhood tour.
Great flat with amazing views from balcony and roof terrace. The swimming pool was an unexpected bonus.
Comfortable bed and lots of cupboard space.
The apartment is centrally located to all major art galleries which in our case was perfect to our visit. Due to the location you can get around either by public transport or simply walking. And it's close to a great selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. We had a great time and would have stayed longer if work demands allowed it.
I have lived in Sydney since 1969, after moving here from Holland. I have lived in Queensland and Western Australia, but always came back to Sydney. I love my inner city apartment, which I use as a bachelor pad to escape the boredom of living in the suburbs. But when I'm not using it, I'd like to share it with visitors to the city, so they can experience Sydney from the heart. I'd be happy to talk to you about antique French cars; to point you to the real Sydney; or to share travel experiences.
