On the positive, Mike is very responsive and helpful. He stops by once a day. The location is great, a 15 minute walk from Microsoft RedWest. Wrong Room depicted: The room pictured is NOT the room you will be staying in. The actual room you get is Number 5. The bed is NOT the queen pictured, but rather a twin. The room is perhaps 50 square feet? The closet is really rickety, and has doors in such a fashion, that you can't actually access about half of it. The window doesn't really admit light. House is Cold and has Electrical Problems: I stayed here during the month of February, and the temperature of my room was about the same as the temperature outside. I asked the heating to be raised. It was raised by about one degree, and it was still cold. I bought a space heater, but one minute of low power would lead to the fuses tripping. The only way to turn them back on is to go outside again. Several times when I didn't turn on the heater, the electricity would trip anyway. Residents: The house is rented out to 5 or 6 residents at any given time, several of them long term--this creates the normal set of issues. The bathroom was usually fairly dirty, with dirt around the edges of the bathtub. The walls are incredibly thin. I could hear the person who was actually in Room 4 snoring every night. He interrupted my phone calls to complain that I was speaking too loudly (although I was speaking in my normal voice). While I was staying at the place, my items from the fridge would regularly get taken. One of the residents would scold me for using his unlabeled dishes, regardless of whether I had touched them. Honestly, the resident interactions were the most uncomfortable part of the experience. I left much earlier than anticipated, and had to last minute find another place to live. The resident interactions made me feel uncomfortable, and the advertising was misleading. The host himself was very nice, and thankfully refunded me so I could find somewhere else to live.

I had a great stay with Nina and Mike in Redmond. The room accommodations were great (fast internet!) and the house was in a quiet neighborhood, but still close enough to downtown Redmond (I walked there most of the time). Mike was friendly, highly available, and provided great tips for local restaurants and other points of interest.

I don't know why I did not look into AirBnB before! This was my first time ever using a service like this, as well as renting a place to stay for a few days (other than regular chain hotels). This, by far, was a great experience! The price made my trip easier to deal with price wise too! The pictures actually don't do the room justice, I was pleasantly surprised when I went in the room and thought it was an even better bang for my buck! I mainly talked to Mike, which was very easy through the messaging service AirBnB provides. Quick to respond to my request for my room, as well as any of my questions. Very cheery person to meet also! Location was great, shared areas were awesome, very easy to understand the whole setup of the house! The bedroom was already setup with everything I needed for my stay, just like any other chain hotels! Sure there is no TV in the room, but free secure WiFi is provided, so streaming anything on a portable device makes it feel just like home (who has cable anytime anyway)! The other guests in the house were very polite and easy to talk with. Everyone easily synced into a schedule so there was no rush for the shower in the morning. Oh and one more thing about location, SUPER close to a Microsoft campus, as well as the 520 freeway! The location turned out to be even better than I thought with how quickly I could get anywhere.... from food places to downtown Seattle itself! When I go back to the Redmond area, I will be checking out to see if Mike & Nina have any rooms available! I thank Mike & Nina for their hospitality! Because of them I am excited to try AirBnB out anytime I travel now!

I'm house hunting and Mike&Ivy have been a treasure trove of great advice and insight on the region, neighborhood, and school districts. Incredible host and awesome worldly people and they even had a bag of candy in the room! As a professional traveler - the place I stayed has more of a "youth hostel" feel but everything an unaccompanied youth like myself needs to crash is there. Parking too! They had this windowshade made of recycled cardboard in the room I stayed which is one randomly amazing thing in the house I noticed, most would probably not give it much thought, but really neat. Mike also is awesome on communication and helped me get a place to crash on short short notice.

Overall, my stay at this place was enjoyable. As a host, Mike was great as he welcomed me when i first arrived late in the evening, took me in his car and showed me around the town, and also grocery shopping. The room is much better than i expected, the size is decent, clean and definitely better than the picture. It also has a table for laptops or reading. Bed is comfy too.
