About this listing

A lovely newbuilt house in a gorgeous location. Mountains all around and big south facing conservatory and garden. See the sun rise and set here in Croi Danu, and in between, enjoy all the beautiful day trips that Kerry has to offer.

The space

This is a beautifully finished house, with three good sized bedrooms - 2 ensuite - a large living room, a big fully appointed kitchen/diner opening into a 15ftx15ft conservatory that brings the outside in. The whole living area of the house is full of light. The thing that I love about this place is that you start the day with breakfast, drinking in the changing light on the mountains and at the end of your day out, it is lovely to come back to the quiet and stillness here and watch the sun setting as you sip a glass of wine in the conservatory!

Guest access

There is ample space for parking several cars here. The whole house and garden is yours to enjoy.

Interaction with guests

I will mostly be available to answer any questions you may have about the house, the area, possible excursions and helpful contacts in the area. If I am away, I will ensure that someone else is available to help. But above all I will leave you to make yourselves at home here in your own way.

Other things to note

Kerry is one of the most incredibly beautiful and magical, mystical places to visit in Ireland, giving you mountains, lakes, rivers and the wild Atlantic to feast your senses on.

Just enjoyed a wonderful stay with our family of four. Everything we needed was stocked in the house - coffee, butter, fresh baked bread, everything needed for cooking, the list goes on and on. But what really made the stay is Shayla - she is helpful and extremely thoughtful, and we really appreciated that. She also sat down with us to give us her recommended itineraries for Dingle and Ring of Kerry, and wow, how helpful that was (incidentally it was quite a bit different than our initial plans and I'm so glad Shayla helped us with this). Anyway, all the superlatives in previous reviews about Shayla and her place are accurate - no question we'll be back when we visit the area again.

Great place to stay. Close to town but also secluded. Spacious home so staying indoors on rainy days is also enjoyable. Modern, warm and clean. Highly recommend.

A very comfortable, modern, spacious home with lots of extras provided by Shayla. A beautiful view from the sun room over the valley to the hills. Comfortable beds, excellent linens and towels. Plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. You need a car. Highly recommended.

Shayla's home was perfect for our stay in the Ring of Kerry area . It was clean and spacious and had everything we needed to be comfortable . She even had electrical adapters in every bedroom . Directions were precise and we had no trouble finding the house . Thank you Shayla ! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Killorglin and area ! Pauline

Shayla's place was clean, had a beautiful view, and in an ideal location to explore the Ring of Kerry. She has a house manual, and recommendations of areas to visit while (EMAIL HIDDEN)munication was great throughout. We had a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Oh my gosh!! Where to start? Shayla greeted us warmly with delicious soda bread, fruit and yogurt. The Sunshine House is exactly as described! And more! Spacious, outstanding views and impeccably clean. We could not have stayed at a more perfect home for our family. Shayla provided a box of toys for our two-year-old grand daughter. Ava loved the toys and it made our stay so much easier. She also provided wonderful cds that prompted "dance parties" in the sun room with Ava daily! I recommend the Sunshine House strongly! Book it!

This is a lovely property with amazing views. Shayla was a very welcoming host. We were travelling with young children and this property probably isn't overly suitable for young families - lots of vases, collectables etc around with potential to be accidentally damaged - we had to move it all away. However, Shayla did kindly leave toys and floor mats for the kids! The house also has a lot of house rules - its not a relaxed or laid back set-up. On the plus side, the house is huge and has fantastic views of the beautiful Kerry scenery. Its very close to town and roads connecting to all the sites in Kerry. Shayla had left lots of food, milk etc. and had everything you might need for cooking in the house plus restaurant and take-away recommendations.

Response from Shayla:
Thank you for your review Francis. Sorry that you saw my requests for everyone's convenience as rules. Most guests find my house to be a totally laid back relaxing space to be in. I a gad that the children enjoyed the toys and mats that I provided for them.

A Killarney native, I have lived in Killorglin for just over 2 years. I have built this house and a Therapy Centre here - finished August 2013 - so that I can have a beautiful space to to live in, to share with friends and guests and to practice my therapeutic work. I lived in London for many years and then in Cork for many more, before moving back to my native Kerry. I choose this location for it's panoramic views of the mountains all around, which change hour by hour, and for it's large private garden space, which I am slowly developping. I love my work, walking in nature, reading, travel and meeting people from different cultures to share experiences. I love nature's beauties and telling people about the loveliness of Kerry. I enjoy delicious healthy food, lots of walking - especially by the sea - and a glass of good wine. I love to sing and I sing in a local choir. When I travel, I like independent travelling, self catering, the choice to relate or not, as the mood takes me, so I offer that to my guests too - freedom of making your own food, non-intrusive care and comfort. Do your own thing - & I'm available if you need any information, to help in any way I can to make your visit more enjoyable. While I am definitely not fluent, I can get by in French, Spanish and Italian - enough to help with everyday things, but not philosophical discussion!
My life motto -" Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved!"
