About this listing
A lovely newbuilt house in a gorgeous location. Mountains all around and big south facing conservatory and garden. See the sun rise and set here in Croi Danu, and in between, enjoy all the beautiful day trips that Kerry has to offer.
This is a beautifully finished house, with three good sized bedrooms - 2 ensuite - a large living room, a big fully appointed kitchen/diner opening into a 15ftx15ft conservatory that brings the outside in. The whole living area of the house is full of light. The thing that I love about this place is that you start the day with breakfast, drinking in the changing light on the mountains and at the end of your day out, it is lovely to come back to the quiet and stillness here and watch the sun setting as you sip a glass of wine in the conservatory!
There is ample space for parking several cars here. The whole house and garden is yours to enjoy.
Interaction with Guests
I will mostly be available to answer any questions you may have about the house, the area, possible excursions and helpful contacts in the area. If I am away, I will ensure that someone else is available to help. But above all I will leave you to make yourselves at home here in your own way.
The house is on the famous Ring of Kerry, with so many beaches, mountain trails, woodland walks only a short drive from here. Situated down a quiet boireen, yet very close to town - 10 minute walk - gives you the benefit of complete peace & quiet, with the option to enjoy the pubs and restaurants a short walk away. Cromane beach is a 10 minute drive away - last summer I swam there almost every day, the water like silk on the skin. We are 20 mins from Killarney town & National Park, 25 mins from Kerry airport, 20 minutes from the expansive and wild Rossbeigh beach, where you can walk for miles or hire a horse from nearby Burke's stables. The town of Killorglin is a friendly one, with someone always ready to help with directions. There is a library, and next door a tourist information office, where the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, and a couple of cafes in the plaza, to while away an hour and people watch. There are several pubs, some with live music, and some good restaurants. In early June the KFEST is on in town, with art, music, and all sorts of entertainment and interesting things to do. In August there is the famous Puck Fair, when a puck goat is crowned King for a few days - I kid you not! - and the streets are filled with music, song, dance and stalls selling all sorts of interesting and exotic items.
It's really best to have a car here, so that you can get the maximum benefit from all that there is to do and see in Kerry. But there are buses from Killorglin to Killarney and Tralee. There are buses from Kerry airport to Killarney town. From Killarney there are trains and buses to many destinations. I can sometimes be available to do a pick up from Killorglin town or from Killarney, if necessary, and if arranged in advance.
Other Things to Note
Kerry is one of the most incredibly beautiful and magical, mystical places to visit in Ireland, giving you mountains, lakes, rivers and the wild Atlantic to feast your senses on.
No smoking in the house. Sand buckets provided outside for smokers.
Have a lovely time here - make yourselves at home and enjoy!
A Killarney native, I have lived in Killorglin for just over 2 years. I have built this house and a Therapy Centre here - finished August 2013 - so that I can have a beautiful space to to live in, to share with friends and guests and to practice my therapeutic work. I lived in London for many years and then in Cork for many more, before moving back to my native Kerry. I choose this location for it's panoramic views of the mountains all around, which change hour by hour, and for it's large private garden space, which I am slowly developping. I love my work, walking in nature, reading, travel and meeting people from different cultures to share experiences. I love nature's beauties and telling people about the loveliness of Kerry. I enjoy delicious healthy food, lots of walking - especially by the sea - and a glass of good wine. I love to sing and I sing in a local choir. When I travel, I like independent travelling, self catering, the choice to relate or not, as the mood takes me, so I offer that to my guests too - freedom of making your own food, non-intrusive care and comfort. Do your own thing - & I'm available if you need any information, to help in any way I can to make your visit more enjoyable. While I am definitely not fluent, I can get by in French, Spanish and Italian - enough to help with everyday things, but not philosophical discussion!
My life motto -" Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved!"
