We operate a diversified salt water organic farm on the shores of Cobscook Bay close to beautiful hiking trails, kayaking, seafood. Enjoy Downeast scenic beauty and historic architecture. Our charming camping platforms are located on the blueberry lands. Enjoy the small farm life, without the work!

The space
This is our blueberry land ! Located at approximately 272 Youngs Cove Rd. in Pembroke, ME (off of Leighton Point Rd.) Follow signs for U-PICK Blueberries. Blueberry Land is about 2 miles from our home farm, and other hipcamp location of Smithereen Farm. Smithereen farm is a working organic farm. We welcome you to come and camp and use this farm as a base for exploring the area— we won’t always have time to show you around, but there is plenty to see and feel. We have 23 foot tides and astounding birdlife.

The camping sites are platforms with triangular timberframe shelters— soon to be covered with waxed canvas. Enjoy our glamping sites, in progress in the comfort of your own tent. Once we put on the canvas we’ll be charging more for them!

This is a rustic site with only a composting toilet. You can fill up your jug at Smithereen Farm, where there is also a hot shower and outdoor sink you can use. If you want it quieter we suggest the blueberry land, it gets the most glorious warm afternoon light. If you want it more social we suggest the Smithereen Farm land, which gets the famous downeast Sunrise over Cobscook bay.

There is beautiful walking, biking and canoeing in every direction and its just down the road from Reversing falls park and trails.

Blueberry bushes are low growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. The parcel is about 60 acres and all the surrounding farms are mostly forested too. Lots of wildlife! So don’t leave any food out or you may find a bear in your campfire pit!

You are welcome to access any part of the farm except the house with the red door. Feel free to explore the lower piece of land and the trail to the beach, the trail to the cove, and anywhere else on the farm. Go look for the pigs out in the woods!

We are super rural and there are no major stores (except a gas station) within ~35 minutes of the farm. Please plan on bringing everything you need!

Severine is a well-known farmer-activist, however having recently just bought her first farm, she is happy to say that she now also a full-time farmer. She is director of Greenhorns, a grassroots organization with the mission to recruit, promote and support the rising generation of new farmers in America. Severine has spent the last seven years gathering, bundling and broadcasting the voices and vision of young agrarians. Greenhorns runs a weekly radio show on Heritage Radio Network and a popular blog. They produce many kinds of media, from documentary films to almanacs, anthologies, mix-tapes, posters, guidebooks and digital maps. They are best known the documentary film, “The Greenhorns” and the raucous young farmer mixers they’ve thrown in 37 states and 14 grange halls. Severine is co-founder and board secretary of Farm Hack, an online, open-source platform for appropriate and affordable farm tools and technologies , as well as National Young Farmers Coalition which now boasts 23 state and regional coalitions. She serves on the board of the Schumacher Center for New Economics. She co-founded Agrarian Trust, which is focused on land access for the next generation of farmers and permanent protection of affordable organic farmland. Severine attended Pomona College and University of California at Berkeley, where she graduated with a B.S. in Conservation/Agroecology.
