The space

The cottage, which was renovated from a stone ruin over 10 years ago, has all the charm of an old farm cottage with the conveniences of a modern home. The main room consists of a large open space with a low ceiling over one half, which forms the dining area. The other half is a double height space consisting of a sitting area in front of the fireplace with wood burning stove. The bedroom is accessed by a door next to the sitting area. This double height room with a king sized bed is the master bedroom. The stairs from the main room takes you to an open half-loft/mezzanine on which there are two more beds; 1 single and 1 double.
At the opposite end of the main room from the fireplace is an arch which leads to the kitchen and shower-room.

Guest access

The cottage is self-contained on its own plot of land at the end of a private country lane and will be totally yours for the duration of your stay.

Interaction with guests

We will meet you on arrival. Other than that we are nearby for chats or anything else you may need.

The neighborhood

Your surroundings will be beautiful South Kerry countryside and your nearest neighbours will be the Kerry Bog Ponies we keep on our farm. The cottage is set among trees and is very secluded.
We are 3.5 miles from the nearest town, Cahersiveen, where you will find supermarkets and a variety of quirky, lively and traditional pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants.

Getting around

You will need transport, be it cycle or drive.

Other things to note

This is the perfect location from which to explore the stunning Skellig Cost on the Wild Atlantic Way. Fishing, hiking, cycling, golf, and horse riding can all be easily organised. The nearest beach is only 4 miles away and there are many others within easy reach. if you plan on Visiting the Skelligs we advise booking your trip as early as possible. As places are limited.

Beautiful cottage in a tranquil setting. We loved it do much we extended our stay. Our children were sad to say goodbye to the ponies . All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our break.

The Cottage was absolutely amazing. Tom and Mary even came and picked us up from the bus stop in two separate cars! The scenery is breathtaking and truly gives you that "cottage" vibe...we even had horses come up and greet us right out front of our door as we arrived! Great surrounding area for hikes/exploring too. The only struggle for us was transportation as our phones didn't work and the city isn't within walking distance, and we didn't have cars! We ended up walking to the neighbour's house and they called the local cab company in town. Overall outstanding trip and the town was the most welcoming I have experienced in my travels. We couldn't stop joking around about moving to Ireland, and we still might..

We had a wonderful stay in this very high quality cottage. Ritchie and his family were so helpful and made us feel very welcome. The area is beautiful with lots of interesting attractions and the cottage is the ideal location from which to explore the area.

This was a fantastic experience start to finish! It was all we hoped for and more. We're a couple from Dublin who went down for new year's - stayed 5 nights with two of us, and had another couple of friends join for 2 nights. The house is absolutely perfect and accommodated our every need so well. It's clean and very well kitted out. Ritchie and family were passionately helpful and genuinely caring, and there for anything we needed. Very nice people and a pleasure to meet them. The local area is brilliant - the ponies very friendly neighbours. The town was better than we expected, and did not get bored. Enough pubs for a very unique pub crawl on new years eve, making it one to remember anyway ;) Perfect base for exploring the skellig ring and rest of ring of kerry. Go on the Cahersiveen!! Kerry tourism's next Dingle!! :) We'll be back :)

Hi I'm Ritchie
As a host I look after the renting of the cottage for my parents Mary & Tom , who live nearby and look after the cottage day to day. We love the opportunity hosting gives to meet new people and at the same time let our guest experience the unique place that is South Kerry.
I split my time between Cahersiveen (Home) and Cork city where I work Monday to Friday.
