Our lovely bed and breakfast is situated near to the Museum District and Vondelpark in the popular and vibrant 19th/20th Century residential neighborhood of Oud-Zuid.
From our bed and breakfast you can easily access the famous Museum Quarter with the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum. The major museums make this area a unique travelers paradise. Moreover, you will find here many luxury boutiques, cafés and the majestic concert hall, the world famous Concertgebouw from 1888. Because of its highly regarded acoustics, this concert hall is considered one of the finest venues for classical music worldwide. Leidseplein is right at the other end of the Vondelpark. This place is synonymous for nightlife till dawn. At Leidseplein you find the Stadsschouwburg, which is the main theatre, several cinemas, many bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as the famous music temples Paradiso and Melkweg.
Our accommodation is positioned very convenient and a relaxed, half hour walk through Vondelpark will take you to the high-cultural cluster at Museumplein and/or to the very heart of the entertainment area at Leidseplein.
In the surrounding neighborhood you can find everything that makes your weekend break in Amsterdam comfortable and enjoyable. In walking distance there is a wide selection of cafés and delicious take-away. Restaurants range from Thai, Japanese, Indonesian food, to Brazil and Surinam kitchen, a Kosher restaurant and various Italian places. There is an outstanding wine bar next door and a cocktail bar at the corner. In summer one might prefer the beer garden at Vondelpark (at the park entrance across the street). Walking down the street, there are many convenience stores including a well-stocked supermarket (during the week open until 10pm, on Sundays until 7pm), a couple of small grocery stores, several bakeries, an eco-food-store, an exquisite small corner shop with the most delicious ice-cream, and very important - a late night shop that is open until 1am. Next door is a bicycle repair shop that is renting bikes. The rental fee is €10 per bicycle per day.
Our bed and breakfast offers 2 guest rooms for 2 persons each on the second floor of our private house. One room has the size of 25 m2 (No.1), the other 16 m2 (No.2). The rooms are offered separately, but can be requested together. This offer concerns the smaller room of 16 m2.
This offer concerns the smaller room of 16 m2. The room is modestly furnished with some 1970s / 1980s furniture. It has a French bed with a good matrass. The two rooms share the bathroom which is equipped with a bath tub, washing stand and a toilet. The room has an extra washing stand. Wireless internet is available.
Generally we don’t do breakfast and it is not included in the room rates. There are however two very recommendable cafés in close proximity, which open early in the morning. Using our kitchen for making coffee or tea is always possible.
Our family and child friendly accommodation has been visited by the authors of the German DUMONT travel guides (Amsterdam. DUMONT Reise-Taschenbuch and Amsterdam. DUMONT direkt) and is recommended in the 2012 edition and the forthcoming 2014 edition.
Our bed and breakfast is easily accessible with public and private transport. The tram lines no.1 and 2 have stops in close proximity to our house and connect straight to the Central Station at the IJ-embankment. The motorway exits S106-S107-S108 are close-by and the international Airport Schiphol is located in 12,5 km distance, easily accessible by train.
Street parking in our area costs €3 per hour or €21,60 per day (Mo-Sa; Su free parking). Alternatively, in close vicinity to our house, at the northern side of the 1928 Olympic Stadium is a municipal park and ride facility (P+R). Parking in the P+R facility after 10am during the week and during the weekend costs €1 per 24 hours. Parking during the week before 10am costs €8 for the first 24 hours and then €1 per 24 hours. You may leave your car up to 96 hours (4 days) in the garage. Since this is a park and ride facility and the low-priced parking is connected to the use of public transport, it is important that the last check-in with the public transport chip card has been in the center area. If this is not the case, the regular parking fee per hour is applied. The public transport ticket (OV chip card) must be purchased separately at the ticket machine available in the garage.

Great venue, great host ! We've sincerely had the best experience we could hope for this week end in Amsterdam, Holger is a great person, it was a real pleasure talking with him, plus he has been a great help to find good restaurants and our way around the city. two thumbs up !! The room is as exactly as shown on the pictures, offering calm and privacy on the top floor, we had very good nights. Going to city center and going back home was really easy using tramway line 1 or 2, (even if we ended up biking our way around :) Simply my best experience using air BnB so far !
Easy to get to city center, Holger and his family are very welcoming and sociable hosts, The apartment is also very nice and comfortable. Great space with warm open hospitality. Thanks.
Holger and his family provided us with the perfect space for our trip to Amsterdam. Easily accessible on public transport, the room we used was ideal for our modest needs - somewhere nice to crash out after a lively day around the town. The fact that it's the other side of Vondelpark really helps get away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. We'll be back!
Perfect! Friendly host and nice location. We had a great weekend!
Thank You Petra and Holger!
We had a fantastic time staying here! The bedroom was beautifully decorated in calm shades of white, had a sink, table and chairs. We were able to keep some things in the fridge which allowed us to have breakfast each day in our room.
The location was great - we only took the tram twice in the whole of our stay. We were able to walk through the beautiful Vondelpark to reach the city centre.
We have had a great time staying at Holger´s ans Petra´s Place!
Hope to see you once again!
Alles wie beschrieben..Zimmer ist Top! Direkt neben dem Vondelpark...mit dem Fahrrad oder Bahn in 15min. im Centrum... nicht umbedingt ein alternativer Kiez aber sehr nett mit Schischi.
We really enjoyed our stay! Holger wasn't home, but his wife was really kind and we could ask her just anything! The room was just perfect, very comfortable and clean! Upstairs there are a lot of books about Amsterdam and you can just borrow them if you want to. Holger's is the best place to stay! Thank you!! :-)
Holger is a very nice and kind host. Everything went perfect (e.g. communication, check-in, check-out)! Thanks a lot! He has a lovely room at a great location just across the wonderful Vondelpark. In front of his house there are plenty of traditional Dutch pubs, excellent restaurants and trendy bars. I can absolutely recommend Holger and his room(s) to anyone who wants to explore Amsterdam.
This is our first family visit to Amsterdam, and my first time using Airbnb for booking accommodation anywhere. So I was both a little nervous and excited. I knew before we arrived that our host would not be there, but he reassured us that his son, Victor, would take care of us. We were not disappointed. Victor helped us with our luggage and was happy to keep them safe as we had arrived early. He suggested a few places nearby where we could get something to eat, whilst he got our room ready.
The room we chose is just as it is in the photos, which is refreshing and we were given a key for both our room and the front door. There isn't a wardrobe but there is a stand for hanging your garments. We also had use of the fridge and washing machine if needed, and when we brought back take-out food, Victor was more than happy for us to use the plates & cutlery. This very personal touch was more than we had expected. Whenever we needed help with finding directions to somewhere, or where we could get some delicious indonesian food, Victor was more than happy to help. He would always wish us a great day on our way out and would ask us how our day went on our way in.
Be warned the stairs are fairly steep, which was unwanted cardio for me (hahaha), but on a more serious note we felt at home and were very reluctant to leave. We are happy to recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit Amsterdam. It is situated in a fairly quiet neighbourhood away from the city centre. Vondelpark is very close by and great for picnics. The neighbourhood has some amazing restaurants, one of our favourite is 'Boteco Lucio' for delicious modern brazilian cuisine and for breakfast, our hotspot, was 'Anne & Max'. The people we met were all very friendly and extremely helpful. We are already planning our return visit!
So see you all soon Gladys Family and thank you Victor once again for making us feel right at home.
