Eclectic by name, eclectic by nature... This apartment is a true mish mash of quirk, convenience, historical charm and modern comforts. Hand selected pieces from the antique shop downstairs bring the space together in a funky yet functional way.
Two large bedrooms, both with comfortable queen size beds, wardrobes and dressers await your slumber. There is a large open space living room and a deco dining table to comfortably seat 6-8 persons. A well stocked entertainers kitchen allows you to spend the night in with good company and good wine.
The bathroom is clean, bright and has plenty of solid stream, steamy hot water to refresh with. The hidden laundry boasts both a washer and dryer for those staying with us a little longer.
The living room and dining room enjoy a vey sunny northernly aspect and look out onto Glebe Point Road below and towards the city skyline beyond.
The apartment was built by Mrs Neill in 1870 and has been a private residence ever since. It was bought off her in 1888 by the Raith family who started a european bakery on the street level which ended up being the largest in Glebe.
Fully furnished including linen, towels, cutlery & crockery.
TV, stereo & DVD player in the living room
Washing machine, dryer, hair dryer, fully functional kitchen with appliances (hotplates, no oven).
Secure, high speed wireless internet.
Overhead fans and heaters in both bedrooms.
The apartment is fully self contained. Only you will have access during your stay. We also have an alarm system you can activate for that extra piece of mind whilst you're away.
I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledge of Sydney with guests. I am an executive on the Glebe Chamber of Commerce so I know all the good haunts and most of the local gossip. I can be contacted with questions via text during your stay and I can usually get back to you straight away.
The apartment is positioned in the heart of Glebe, a bohemian inner city village filled with lively coffee shops, boutique bars and restaurants offering cuisines from all over the world.
You are a 1.5km 15-20 minute walk from Central Station, Darling Harbour, Sydney Fish Market and King Street, Newtown. There are magnificent parks at either end of Glebe Point Road for picnics and waterfront walks.
Across the road is a bus stop to Circular Quay, a 24 hour 7/11 and a ramp to Broadway Shopping Centre with grocery stores that close at midnight each night. Every Saturday the famous Glebe Markets operate right next door to the building and offer up fresh foods, local handicrafts and cheap second hand wares.
You barely have to roll out of bed and the best of Sydney is right there at your doorstep.
A cab from the airport to 62 Glebe Point Road costs around $25-$30 and takes around 20 minutes in light traffic.
Busses to the city run constantly down Broadway at the 'top' end of Glebe Point Road. 1 zone bus passes can be bought from 7/11, they cost about $2.50 and will get you to Circular Quay and the city.
There is a light rail that runs from Central Station to Glebe and the station is a 10 minute walk down Glebe Point Road from the apartment.
Busses to Coogee Beach and Newtown (370) run from the bus stop directly across the road.
Taxis can be hailed on Glebe Point Road at most times of day or can be ordered to your doorstep on 131008.
Walking around the area is a pleasure not worth missing.

We had a awesome time in Glebe, thanks to our stay in this wonderfull apartment. Kris is a great host as he managed a cosy corner in the shop early in the morning for us to wait untill we could go in. We felt like real Aussies for 5 days. Shops just around the corner. Nice Glebe Saturday Market next door and the unforgetable coffee at Bade Mannors. Bus to city centre stops in front of the door. Nice city guides provided by Kris.
Kris was most helpful from the word go and went to extra effort to make us feel welcome on arrival. He kept in contact before and during our stay. Overall we were very happy with the apartment and our lovely host, Kris.
Really nice and cosy apartment with a great location.
Kris was a good host. The arrival arrangements got changed at the last moment but he apologised gracefully. The apartment is spacious, pleasant. One room is on the street. We slept peacefully in the inner room without windows. The neighbourhood is great.
My family and I had a really lovely stay at Kris's apartment - Definitely a great location which was closer to everywhere. The apartment was in a historic building that offers a litter more character than any other 'typical hotels'. It has clean and spacious rooms with beautiful antique furnitures. I'd love to recommend it without hesitation. Kris was a fantastic host and responsive to any questions we had. Thank you very much :)
very good, as per the details given in the listing.
place is near to city,if you are a foodie you have everything in one street that is Glebe point road.
thanks Kris, you are a very good host.
keep it up.
Kris personally welcomed us by taking the time to help us taking our luggage. He gave us a lot of information about what was to see and to do in Sydney according to our wishes.
Throughout our stay, he was very helpful and very reactive...(You should see how he replaced the dead iron right away !!)
We appreciate very much his apartment located in an ideal area for its atmosphere, markets, its various restaurants and a lot more all within walking distance. You can just enjoy the antics shop downstairs the flat...
The apartment was very nice for our family. We have much loved to take our breakfast on the table bathed by sun.
We felt so good there that we had almost forgotten to visit the remaining parts of Sydney...
It's really a place and an owner to advice to eveyone...We will come back !
Many thanks to you Kris.
Kris was a really helpful and hospital host! Other than giving us an introduction of Sydney during the "checking in" and providing useful info abt Glebe, he also went the extra mile to revert to us on weird queries (my uncle wanted to get a portable electrical fridge for fishing purposes :/). Uncle ended up with a good buy, thanks to Kris!
He also dropped us a note on the happenings during our period of stay, which is how we ended up at Pirramar Park for the wine festival :p
Apartment - clean and nicely decorated, homely equipped (all the pots and pans and cups and other utensils), spacious enough for 5 of us (my parents, aunt and uncle, and myself) with me sleeping in the living room on the makeshift bed provided by Kris. Good location, walkable to Sydney Fish Market (abt 15-20min across the quaint little Wentworth park), then another 10-15 walk from fish market to Darling Harbour.. convenient buses to Chinatown, or Circular Quay where u take the ferry rides, with the bus stop just across (or down) the street. Oh, best part is Broadway Shopping Centre which is just down the street 5min away, with a supermarket open till 12 midnight! Satisfied the ladies' kitchen and grocery needs :)
Oh and not to forget, Pastabella across the street selling pasta - highly recommended! Nice food, good service, affordable price!
Very good experience with Kris and his Glebe apartment! *thumbs up* :D
Thanks Kris' help. We are so lucky could living in the amazing apartment. Good location, nice bar just walk 2 mins, lots of restaurant and cafe. Also just walking 15 mins. We are like the boutique furniture and enjoy it. When we are back to Sydney we'll want to live here:)
A big thank you to Jane & Kris for allowing us the opportunity of enjoying our stay in Sydney in their lovely apartment.
The apartment is great, it is above a gorgeous quirky and retro antique shop, and some of this theme is carried throughout the apartment making it very different and unusual to other apartments we have stayed in..
It is situated on a bus route taking you to any of Sydney's attractions. We usually walked to Darling Harbour, Circular Quay or the central bus & train stations
It is fully equipped for everyone's needs, the two bedrooms had very large comfortable beds, just what we needed at the end of a busy 4 weeks following the British & Irish Lions rugby tour!!
We really do recommend staying here, we just wish we had more time to explore Glebe Point Road which has many beautiful coffee bars, restaurants and shops.
We would certainly return to Eclectic again.
Thank you from Gareth & Chris
