It's a fabulous time of year to visit San Francisco!
YOUR ROOM . . .
The best room in the house! It's clean and cheerful with a new Queen size bed, your own bathroom, hardwood floor and closet. It’s furnished with an antique dresser, a lounge chair, an antique desk & stool, a night stand/bookcase and a Persian-style rug. You'll have soft cotton sheets and 5 pillows to choose from. There's a heater in the room and the window opens so you can keep the room at the temperature you like. I get fantastic feedback on how comfortable the bed is. You'll be very cozy and comfortable here.
Your bathroom is fully renovated, bright and spotlessly clean; it's attached to your room for complete privacy. There are nice Egyptian Cotton towels, a hair dryer, a scented candle and a very tall shower head (with good water-pressure) over the tub. You'll also find low- or unscented shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturizer. There's a cute cabinet so you can conveniently spread out your stuff. Bonus: we have endless hot water – you'll never run out!
BREAKFAST and MEALS
There'll be fresh fruit, snacks and a water carafe in your room when you arrive. You'll have your own shelf in the fridge and in the pantry with eggs, bread, butter, jam, yogurt, peanut butter, cereals, oatmeal, milk, juice, coffee, tea (black and herbal), sugar, honey, artificial sweetener and snacks. Anything you're missing you can buy right across the street at Walgreens or down the block at Safeway. You're more than welcome to do any cooking you'd like and I have oil and spices for you to use. And if you'd like a picnic I have a fully equipped picnic basket & blanket for you!
You're welcome to make full use of my home! It's a fun, eclectic and comfortable place with everything you'll need. Built in the late 1800's, my apartment has the warmth and beauty of Victorian/Edwardian-era features with the advantage of modern renovations. the furniture is a mix of interesting antique and vintage pieces. The living, dining and kitchen area is a bright open space with lots of big windows - and because I'm on the top floor it's very airy and bright. We have hardwood floors, central heating and great lighting. The large, modern, kitchen has everything you'll need including a gas stove, dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave and toaster. I have a new single-cup coffee maker so you can choose the coffee you want and have it ready within a minute or two. The cheerful laundry room has top-quality washer and dryer and an ironing board which you're welcome to use. And you'll love the sunny little back deck with 180 degree views!
Interaction with Guests
Check-in is easy. Let me know the approximate time you'll arrive and I'll be here to welcome you warmly and show you around. I'll show you some good resources and give you an overview of the city, my neighborhood and how to get around. You'll have a set of keys so you can come and go as you please. I'm available any time for questions but I'll leave you to yourselves. I spend most of my time around the house so I'll be happy to chat about your adventures!
I'm on the border of 3 neighborhoods: The Castro, Mission- Dolores and Lower Haight. It's a very vibrant, safe and sunny part of town. There's lots to do - day and night; it's also a great area to just sit at an outdoor café and watch the people go by. There are several guide-books and restaurant guides to help you plan your stay. With a Walk Score of 98 there are abundant cafés, coffee shops, bars, restaurants (fancy and casual), interesting stores, markets, parks, entertainment venues and street art right in the neighborhood.
I'm in a superb transportation hub that has a Transit Score of 100! For transit information, go to (website hidden) trip planner - enter "15th (email hidden)." and then any city landmark - you'll see how quick and easy it is to get everywhere! For example, the Church St. Station is a block away and, from there, it takes less than 10 minutes to get downtown. I'll provide a transit card which is good for all public transportation. You’re welcome to load it up and use it while you’re here.
Other Things to Note
• I own my home so I'm a legal airbnb host.
• There are 45 stairs to climb (but it’s a charming staircase!)
• Unfortunately there isn’t a parking space and street parking can be difficult. Public transportation is excellent!
• There isn't a TV in the room/house.
• I have 2 cats who are very friendly and will greet you in the morning and sneak into your room if you leave your door open : )
• My housemate Patrick is very nice and friendly as well. He enjoys hearing about people's travels and where they live.
• Every 2nd Wednesday I have some friends over to play cards from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m.
It's a wonderful place and I love having people here. I think you’ll really enjoy your stay!

Kathy is the best host we ever had! She made us feel at home since the very first minute we arrived. She is warm, helpful and if you are planing to go to San Francisco dont hesitate and stay in her house. The location is amazing, the house is beautiful and it is súper clean. The bed is soooooo confortable! The two cats are really sweet and we loved having them with us!!! we would 100% stay there again. Thank you so much Kathy!!!!!
This is the second or third time that we are using Kathy's place for one of our outside co-workers. The place is clean, the location is great. We are planning to arrange as many stays with her as possible.
Kathy is a superhost! We loved to stay with her and her two cats: Paco and Sophie. Her house has a very good location, so close to excellent neighborhoods: Castro and Misiones. This means you gonna have easy ways to enjoy the city (we did many trials by feet, but there’s a central subway so close as well) and an amazing source of fun at night (Church St., Castro St., etc.). The house is almost on the corner of Market Street, which is the main street of the city). The house is amazing and completely equipped. Everything you may need (to use the house or enjoy San Fran) you will have. Anything we missed? Maybe another cat!
Thanks a lot, Kathy!!
I stayed one more week with Kathy and, as I said before, everything was great: Kathy, the room, the apartment, the neighborhood, the cats :)
Thanks for everything Kathy!
It's the second time I stay with Kathy, so I obviously had a good experience! She'a a great host, always anticipating her guests' needs and making sure they feel comfortable. She's also very nice to chat with when we're both in. The apartment is big, quiet and clean, in a very nice neighborhood and well communicated by different means of transportation. There are lots of interesting places to go even within walking distance. This is definitely a great place to stay that I would recommend to anyone visiting SF! And of course, for animal lovers like myself it's nice to have the 2 lovely cats around :)
Kathy was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome in her home.
Her guest room is cosy and very quiet, with amazingly soft bed linen on a very comfy bed. The bathroom is beautiful, with fluffy towels and everything you might need.
The living room and kitchen are warm and bright and there are supplies for guests in the fridge and pantry. It was great to have everything we needed for breakfast at home, and the option to cook in the apartment if we'd wanted to. We loved having tea on the deck in the morning sunshine, with the cats for company.
Paco and Sophie, the cats, are extremely friendly, and are happy to play (Sophie) and cuddle (both). We loved them!
The apartment is very close to public transport and it was very easy to get around. Kathy provided transport cards for us to borrow and maps of the city and a neighbourhood walk, which made everything very easy.
Kathy has thought about absolutely everything her guests might need for a comfortable stay, and couldn't have been more helpful.
Thank you Kathy!
Kathy was kind and helpful since day one. She agreed to rent her room for a 3rd party since I am always bringing people to SF to help me out with my startup. She was very communicative and kind. She was interested in the guest and offered help and tips to make her welcomed. I will recommend Kathy's place to anybody. My guest felt at home and loved the fact that the room was spotless. Five starts to Kathy! Quote of the guest "It is the best place that I've stay at in SF":)

I'm open and respectful of all lifestyles. I've lived in San Francisco for 5 years and I love it here! I'm originally from Vancouver Canada (I left there because it rains too much!) and I go back often to visit my family. I like being at home and will always make sure my home is warm and well-lit for you!
I like shopping at thrift stores, doing volunteer work, playing cards/games/poker, going to live theater, walking, baking and doing things with friends. I'm active with my local church and sometimes I work as a "handyma'am" fixing things for people.
I'm a huge animal lover and will be happy to look at all the pictures you have of your pets. : ) I have 2 friendly cats (Paco and Sophie) who will love any attention you give them.
I like to bake (healthy blueberry muffins are my specialty) and I usually stay home to eat fairly healthy meals. I spend a lot of time reading and working on the computer so it's pretty quiet around the house.
Places I've visited or lived: London, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan, China, India, Mexico, Canada (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Regina, Quebec City, Vancouver, Victoria), the U.S. (Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Washington D.C., Florida and Michigan).
The most recent major traveling I did was 2 wonderful weeks in South Africa with my mother and my daughter seeing as many animals as we could!
I strive for a social and congenial atmosphere – people coming and going, the sounds of everyday living, sharing interesting ideas, cooking and laughter. I try not to take anything (especially myself) too seriously. No amount of noise bothers me – even when I’m asleep – so you can come and go whenever you please and it won't bother me at all.
There's a very nice guy who occupies another bedroom. His name is Patrick and he's very quiet and respectful as well.
My beautiful, newly renovated and bright apartment is in a Victorian-era building right smack in the middle of all the action in San Francisco: parks, transit, great cafes and restaurants, gyms, farmer's market, Grocery store, pharmacy, Peet's coffee Castro, Noe Valley, Mission, Downtown, Haight, Market Street . . . and lots more. are just minutes away. And this is exactly where I want to be. : )
