It's a fabulous time of year to visit San Francisco!
YOUR ROOM . . .
The best room in the house! It's clean and cheerful with a new Queen size bed, your own bathroom, hardwood floor and closet. It’s furnished with an antique dresser, a lounge chair, an antique desk & stool, a night stand/bookcase and a Persian-style rug. I provide high-quality, soft cotton sheets and 5 pillows to choose from. I have a heater in the room and the window opens so you can keep the room at the temperature you like (and a hot water bottle and extra blanket if you need one). Sunlight comes in the window but there isn't a view - it looks out to a lightwell between buildings. I get fantastic feedback on how comfortable the bed is. You'll be very cozy and comfortable here.
Your bathroom is fully renovated, bright and spotlessly clean; it's attached to your room for complete privacy. There are nice Egyptian Cotton towels, a hair dryer, a scented candle and a very tall shower head (with good water-pressure) over the tub. You'll also find low- or unscented shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturizer. There's a cute cabinet so you can conveniently spread out your stuff. Bonus: we have endless hot water – you'll never run out!
BREAKFAST and MEALS
There'll be fresh fruit, snacks and a water carafe in your room when you arrive. For breakfast and snacks, you'll have your own shelf in the fridge and a shelf in the pantry. Nothing too special but there will be eggs, bread, butter, jam, yogurt, peanut butter, cereals, oatmeal, milk, juice, coffee, tea (black and herbal), sugar, honey, artificial sweetener and snacks for anytime of the day or night. Anything you're missing you can buy right across the street at Walgreens or down the block at Safeway. You're more than welcome to do any cooking you'd like and I have oil and spices for you to use. And if you'd like a picnic I have a fully equipped picnic basket & blanket for you!
You're welcome to make full use of my home! It's a fun, eclectic and comfortable place with everything you'll need. Built in the late 1800's, my apartment has the warmth and beauty of Victorian/Edwardian-era features with the advantage of modern renovations. the furniture is a mix of interesting antique and vintage pieces. The living, dining and kitchen area is a bright open space with lots of big windows - and because I'm on the top floor it's very airy and bright. We have hardwood floors, central heating and great lighting. The large, modern, kitchen has everything you'll need including a gas stove, dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave and toaster. I have a single-cup coffee maker so you can choose the coffee you want and have it ready within a minute or two. The cheerful laundry room has top-quality washer and dryer and an ironing board which you're welcome to use. And you'll love the sunny little back deck with 180 degree views!
Interaction with Guests
Check-in is easy. Let me know the approximate time you'll arrive and I'll be here to welcome you warmly and show you around. I'll show you some good resources and give you an overview of the city, my neighborhood and how to get around. You'll have a set of keys so you can come and go as you please. I'm available any time for questions but I'll leave you to yourselves. I spend most of my time around the house so I'll be happy to chat about your adventures!
I'm on the border of 3 neighborhoods: The Castro, Mission- Dolores and Lower Haight. It's a very vibrant, safe and sunny part of town. There's lots to do - day and night; it's also a great area to just sit at an outdoor café and watch the people go by. There are several guide-books and restaurant guides to help you plan your stay. With a Walk Score of 98 there are abundant cafés, coffee shops, bars, restaurants (fancy and casual), interesting stores, markets, parks, entertainment venues and street art right in the neighborhood.
I'm in a superb transportation hub that has a Transit Score of 100! For transit information, go to (website hidden) trip planner - enter "15th (email hidden)." and then any city landmark - you'll see how quick and easy it is to get everywhere! For example, the Church St. Station is a block away and, from there, it takes less than 10 minutes to get downtown. I'll provide a transit card which is good for all public transportation. You’re welcome to load it up and use it while you’re here.
Other Things to Note
• I own my home and I'm a legal registered airbnb host.
• There are 45 stairs to climb (but it’s a charming staircase!)
• There isn’t a parking space and street parking can be difficult but public transportation is excellent!
• There isn't a TV in the room/house.
• I have 2 cats who are very friendly and will greet you in the morning and sneak into your room if you leave your door open : )
• My housemate Patrick is very nice and friendly as well. He enjoys hearing about people's travels and where they live.
• Every 2nd Wednesday I have some friends over to play cards from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m.

Kathy was a very welcoming hostess! Her whole apartment is set up for the comfort and enjoyment of her guests. Directions for how things work and where they can be found are quite clear, both in her home and in San Francisco at large. Kathy provided us with maps so that we were able to navigate the local area and find our way across the city (and back!).
The home is roomy and very quiet and peaceful. The bed is wonderful, as well as the nice hot shower.
Kathy provided staples such as milk, juice, butter, eggs, bread and cereals which made getting our own breakfast a snap! We loved having access to the fridge so we could keep lunch or dinner foods cold as well. Her kitchen is such a pleasure to work/eat in with a big table by a sunny window to enjoy.
The two cats were so friendly and cute!
We enjoyed the easy access from our door to buses and streetcars going every direction. The neighborhood is very pleasant and felt quite safe. We enjoyed the abundance of shops and restaurants nearby and the chance to stay in an authentic home in a new city for us. You won't be sorry if you stay here!
We had a great stay at Kathy's place, she's very welcoming and a warm host which makes all the difference. Kathy sat down with us on the first day to tell us about the area, and provided maps and helpful books which is really nice when you're new to a place. There are also lots of little things she does, like a welcome note on the blackboard, making an effort to buy English Breakfast tea and she even managed to fix my broken bag.
The room was very clean and pretty, just like the photos. The bed is very comfy and we had the best night's sleep in it, and there's no end of hot water in the shower. The cats were super cute and loving also.
All in all a great stay, I would highly recommend you book and if we're ever back in San Francisco we'll definitely stay here!
Kathy did a great job at making us feel welcome the second we walked in the door. It was great knowing we would have a place to rest our feet or mingle if we felt like it! The apartment matched the description very well. Very clean and inviting. The area was also very convenient and matched the description as well. Great walking distance to a lot of great areas and super close to public transportation. Although we kind of like to keep to ourselves, especially after long days out and about, we knew if we needed anything or wanted to socialize for a night Kathy would be more than accommodating. The snacks available to us were delicious and so was access to quick breakfasts in the morning. This is great when you are likely spending money for at least two meals a day anyways! We would definitely do an Airbnb again and would definitely look at Kathy's place again if we were in the SF area.
I had a great time at Kathy's apartment in San Francisco. She was super helpful, the room was super comfortable, clean and spacious. The area was just great. the cats were adorable too. It was everything I needed for my stay in the city.
Kathy is a wonderful host! She took a great care to explain how to arrive to her place and was very flexible for my arrival time.
The room is comfortable and quiet, with a nice decoration and a private bathroom with shower in perfect condition and everything you need for a nice stay. Though I didn't use them much, the kitchen and the living-room are very pleasant.
Kathy has a quiet roommate and two cute and loving cats.
On the day I arrived, she explained every details about her place and what I needed. She then took the time to present the city and the different neighborhoods, offering a variety of maps for walks and visits around the city. She is always ready to help and give advices.
Moreover, her place is very well located, at the border between Mission and Castro Districts. And close to Market Street which is very convenient if you want to go downtown.
Altogether a very pleasant stay !
Kathy is such a generous and gracious hostess. She made us feel right at home and so comfortable. She gave us a very helpful orientation to the city and made spot-on suggestions for sightseeing, including buying a three-day transit pass that got us everywhere we wanted to go. Her home is charming and spotless and very well located to some of the most interesting and walkable neighborhoods in SF. As our first airbnb stay, we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. We hope to stay here again when we return to SF.
Our hostess was very informative & helpful with telling us what was what in the area where she lived + had a lot of useful info she shared with us, which was very helpful.

About the Host, Kathy
I'm open and respectful of all lifestyles. I've lived in San Francisco for 6 years and I love it here! I'm originally from Vancouver Canada (I left there because it rains too much!) and I go back often to visit my family. I like being at home and will always make sure my home is warm and well-lit for you!
I like shopping at thrift stores, doing volunteer work, playing cards/games/poker, going to live theater, walking, baking and doing things with friends. I'm active with my local church and sometimes I work as a "handyma'am" fixing things for people.
I'm a huge animal lover and will be happy to look at all the pictures you have of your pets. : ) I have 2 friendly cats (Paco and Sophie) who will love any attention you give them.
I like to bake (healthy blueberry muffins are my specialty) and I usually stay home to eat fairly healthy meals. I spend a lot of time reading and working on the computer so it's pretty quiet around the house.
Places I've visited or lived: London, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan, China, India, Mexico, South Africa, Canada (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Regina, Quebec City, Vancouver, Victoria), the U.S. (Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Washington D.C., Florida and Michigan).
The most recent major traveling I did was 2 wonderful weeks in South Africa with my mother and my daughter seeing as many animals as we could!
I strive for a social and congenial atmosphere – people coming and going, the sounds of everyday living, sharing interesting ideas, cooking and laughter. I try not to take anything (especially myself) too seriously. No amount of noise bothers me – even when I’m asleep – so you can come and go whenever you please and it won't bother me at all.
There's a very nice guy who lives here as well. His name is Patrick and he's friendly and respectful as well.
My beautiful, newly renovated and bright apartment is in a Victorian-era building right smack in the middle of all the action in San Francisco: parks, transit, great cafes and restaurants, gyms, farmer's market, Grocery store, pharmacy, Peet's coffee Castro, Noe Valley, Mission, Downtown, Haight, Market Street . . . and lots more. are just minutes away. And this is exactly where I want to be. : )
