About this listing
Stay in my lovely, light and airy home, close to beautiful Richmond Park and the River Thames.
I am offering a light and airy double (king size bed) or twin room, and your own private living room in my Victorian home, located in the residential area of north Kingston. Your bedroom has plenty of drawer storage, space for hanging clothes, a dressing table/desk and chair, and a hairdryer. Your comfortable living room has a sofa, armchair, flat screen TV/DVD player with various cable channels and radio.
You would share the bathroom with just me (and I never hog it!), a second loo, and the kitchen and dining area too, which looks out on to my beautiful, peaceful garden, where you can relax if the weather allows. You would have a couple of shelves in my fridge, your own food cupboard space, and you are free to use all kitchen facilities to cook your meals. You can also hop on to my wi-fi.
The house is in a great location, just 2 minutes walk away from the Royal Richmond Park, and 15 minutes walk from the River Thames, Kingston station and town centre. Kingston is a busy market town with a wealth of shops, pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants that cater for all tastes. It's a friendly and safe area. Hampton Court Palace is a 10 minute drive or a 50 minute walk along the river too. Richmond is also very close by (a 50 minute walk through the park or a 20 minute bus ride away). I've been living here for 3 years now and I still feel like I'm on holiday!
Public transport links are very good for local travel and also for getting in to central London: Norbiton station is also only a 12 minute walk away from the house with trains running about every 15 minutes for a 25 minute ride in to central London Waterloo, and 15 minutes from Wimbledon if you're here for the tennis.
Other Things to Note
For security reasons, I only accept reservations requests from guests who have included verifications in their Airbnb profiles.
Check in times have to be arranged around my hours of work. If you are arriving by public transport and if you have a mobile phone, you can call me and I can pick you up from Norbiton station or Kingston bus station which will save you a 10/15 minute walk with your luggage. Please note that without a call from you I can not pick you up as parking and waiting time at Norbiton and Kingston is very limited.
I provide bed linen and towels.
You can help yourself to tea, coffee and milk during your stay but please note I don't provide breakfast.
Visitors parking permits for outside the house are £2 a day, and for around the corner £1 a day.
Optional £10 for cleaning of bedroom if staying for more than one week.
Both your bedroom and living room do face on to a road, so there can be a little traffic noise, particularly during rush hours, but no more than what would be expected from most suburban residencies.
I live in a house, not a flat/apartment, so there are a few stairs (14 steps in total).
Please tidy up after yourself in the kitchen and bathroom
Please eat your meals in the dining area and not in your bedroom or lounge.
If you're back after me at night, please make sure all lights are turned off.
About the Host, Ruth
I'm a designer and art teacher so my house is individual and colourful, and I can tell you a lot about the local arts scene as well as what's on at the London galleries. I love food so can recommend some good local eateries and will frequently offer you a slice of my latest home- made cake! I am also a keen walker and can recommend a lot of lovely local walks.
