  • My cousin and I stayed at Sabrina's place and had a great time. We had breakfast on the patio every morning, while enjoying the beautiful morning sunrise. The walk to the bus stop was quick, and the locals were helpful whenever we looked a little lost. :) We walked to a market twice during our stay for groceries, and walked to Pompano Beach to buy bus passes, post cards and stamps. We spent most of our time sight-seeing around the island, and were always happy to make it back to Sabrina's place to relax at night. We had the best nights' sleep while at Sabrina's - the bed was awesome and it was so wonderfully quiet in her neighborhood. We would def stay here again. Sabrina is a great host, and was always helpful with information and advice on where to go and what to do. We felt very welcomed and cared for.

  • I cannot find the words to describe my stay with Sabrina but I will try. She went way beyond what I would expect from a hostess. She provided me with pamphlets so that I could go on all the tours, she helped me get around the island easily, she (and her wonderful mother) lent me books so that I could really learn and appreciate Bermudian history and culture. She replaced my fridge when there was a problem with the door and was always available to immediately get anything I needed.
Sabrina even came with me on three tours, one to learn about wild herbs and fruits, one to watch the gombey dancers and one boat tour to a shipwreck. She wants to be sure that she knows what is available for her guests to do.
Staying in a hotel I would have missed out on all the above that I received from staying with Sabrina - she was the difference between a holiday and an experience!
I had fabulous weather the second week that I was staying and got to swim in the ocean - the beaches in "winter" are empty which made my stay even better! I would like to recommend Bermuda to anyone reading this as it is not only a beautiful island but the people are exceptionally friendly, helpful and kind. I hope to return, to show my husband around, and I would never want to stay anywhere else than at Sabrina's - I miss her, my apartment and the sunrise from my door already! Thank you Sabrina for all that you do - you are a treasure.

  • Sabrina was the ULTIMATE host! She welcomed us into her home and island with a tour of the property, recommendations for everything from restaurants to beaches to horseback riding, and provided us with a mini history lesson of Bermuda. Pompano is a cozy and quiet place to relax and from where you can easily get around to the other more bustling parts of the island. Our favorite times were sipping afternoon tea at the Pompano Beach Club- just a short stroll from Sabrina's house and exploring the islands many trails and beaches. Thanks again Sabrina!

  • What a pleasure it was to stay in the Pompano Flats! The apt is cozy and private. The weather was quite nice and we often prepared meals in the kitchenette and ate on the patio right outside our door. Sabrina was a gracious host who made it her highest priority to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed as far as amenities. She is well versed on the island and provided us with a wealth of information on what to do and see during our stay. I would definitely return and will recommend this airbnb option to friends.

  • We decided to spend Christmas in Bermuda and Sabrina made it one of the best holidays in our lives! The location is pleasantly out of the way while well-connected to bus lines, walking paths, a ferry terminal, and taxis (due to the excellent beach club 5 minutes’ walk away – where everyone knows Sabrina!). The view from the deck offers lovely sunsets and a line of ocean (it would be nicer if her neighbors tended to their trees). The room was budget-hotel sized with all the needs packed in – we managed to cook half our meals on Sabrina’s kitchenette and plan all of our outings with her compendious personal knowledge and prepared maps and flyers. On the day after Christmas, Sabrina had a large family dinner and invited us to join them. The Kirby family is most likely the best example of Bermudian hospitality and kindness you will meet! In response to the perplexing review preceding ours, we can only assume the author reacted badly to some cultural differences. Bermuda is a damp expensive place with a premium on views, so I would argue that this room is worth exactly what we paid for, with the added bonus of Sabrina’s knowledge and network making our first visit there an authentic Bermudian experience. If you want to forget where you are, pay $750 or more per night at a resort. If you want to know (and enjoy) Bermuda, stay with Sabrina.

  • Unfortunately, experience of my boyfriend and I were far from excellent. And I have seen none of the friendliness and hospitality that other guests are talking about. In fact it was full of rude and hostile treatment. Apartment is far less nice than the pictures might lead you believe and you don't have that much privacy.

Sabrina was not around during our visit and her 80-years old mom (who appeared to share the wall with us) was "taking care" of us.
Mother started by being unhelpful telling us she didn't know how exactly internet password is spelled (we tried all possible capitalization and could never get it to work) and later turning absolutely hostile towards both me and my boyfriend, showing up in the middle of a second day and accusing us of not having payed (even though all transactions were handled through airbnb), adding that she didn't like us from the very beginning. Once she realized she was wrong about the payment (a day later), she again stormed into the studio we were staying at, stared angrily at me and yelled "You payed, so you were right, OK?". I am not going to lie - it did make our vacation quite a bit less pleasant, especially since she continued dropping in on us unannounced. Barely a relaxing , left alone romantic situation.

Since the password problem was never resolved, we had no way of contacting any tours, finding restaurants etc (there is no phone in the room either). Which again made things much more difficult than they should have been (especially since the nice restaurants are at least 30 min away).

Once I came back home and told Sabrina about her mom, I expected an apology, instead I have gotten an email berating me for being ungrateful for the beauty of Bermuda (??) and not admitting that I had a great time.

Now about apartment. It is mainly clean, just be careful around the windows - those are full of spiderweb and dust. The ceilings are extremely low, which makes already a tiny room feel completely claustrophobic. Kitchen utensils and plates etc are located on an ugly stand right next to your bed; lamps are super bright, barely covered and shining right into your eyes - all in all this place is very far from cosy. The studio itself is part of the large house and it is barely fair to call it a studio as you do not have much privacy, with an old lady and another neighbor and a constantly-barking dog right by your windows.

    Response from Sabrina:

Blessed to have our 80 year old mother. Blackberry used for photos, not photoshopped. Property ½ acre, you see ocean,ONLY roof tops of neighbours. She refused to register.Internet password given, didn’t pay & wasn’t charged. Bermuda building code ceiling height is minimum 7’6”, rooms separated by a 12” solid concrete block.

I called Yuliya's boyfriend,he was shocked to hear what she wrote. He stated:On the whole his stay with us & in Bermuda was Good, place is Beautiful. Mother’s Welcome was very nice, found her charming & pleasant. The miscommunication & offence taken, I missed it completely. My girlfriend doesn't have a lot of patience.I asked him if my mother ever barged in, he said No. Dog barking was not constant thing, random.Walk 5 mins to Pompano Beach Resort (3 restaurants, night club, bars, spa, beach) got Internet.

Emails sent Yuliya,11/29/13,10AM: just a quick note to touch base.11/29, 10AM: Have you found everything ok? Do you have any questions that I can assist with? If so, I invite you to contact me:

Sent: Mon12/02 9pm.Hello Yuliya, Firstly,I think it would be fair to say that you enjoyed our beautiful island & found our accommodations clean & offered more amenities than a hotel room at exceptionally generous rate with no additional Taxes.I take this opportunity to apologize for any inconveniences you encountered.Because of my absence I asked my mother to assist & ensure that she made herself available to you.You indicated that you were having issues with the Internet, therefore I asked her to have our IT Tech to come when you were there to make sure that you were getting online. However he apparently arrived after you had left out for the evening.I was made to understand that he found no issues,he got online with both his laptop & Ipad in both your accommodation as well as in my home.11/17, I also had our IT Tech inspect ALL of our accommodations to ensure that everything was working so that there wouldn't be any issues in my absence, incidentally everything was in working order;hence he couldn't figure out why I had him return;Yuliya, would you be so kind and advise me what type of devices you have,to allow us to investigate further as to why you had connectivity issues to avoid this from re-occurring.Prior to your arrival guest spent 9 nights & he didn't experience any problems.Kindly be advised, telephone is not advertised in'Pompano Flats Ocean View' Studio Suite.Prior to you booking the accommodation we provided you with pertinent information about Bermuda & 'HOW TO GET TO" information advising you on commuting & getting around Bermuda.Your Welcome package which I left on the desk for you also had information. Each accommodation is equipped with brochures, flyers & books located in the basket next to the bed.Yuliya,I appreciate you taking the time to update me.If you decide to return I will ensure that your time with us will be a much better experience.FYI: we have plans to install a swimming pool in 2014 & intend on our rates remaining the same.

We know we can't please everyone all the time,as each person's expectations & experience is different.

  • Sabrina is fantastic. Extremely helpful and nice. The accommodation is a bargain compared to the club down the road that charge 6 times the price!

  • I had a very pleasant stay at Sabrina's clean and comfortable home. All of the units are separate, with their own entrances; this is much more convenient than sharing a main entrance or similar with others. I did not encounter any bugs or noise, and was very pleased at the level of relaxation I was able to find there. The views towards the harbor/light house and into the sunset are wonderful, and the property is located conveniently next to a walkable grocery store. I rented a scooter and was able to get to the best beaches on the island in about 10-15 minutes off south shore road no problem. Able to scoot to both ends of the island in around 45 minutes? Just a guess as we had no watches or cell phones on while visiting :) . I have no complaints and will absolutely visit again if time allows - everything worked out wonderfully and Sabrina's suggestions for rentals/taxi/grocery/etc. were on point. I would not hesitate to suggest any of the rooms, and on a final note - I was happy to pick up 80$ of groceries on day 1 and use the inroom kitchen area to grill, boil, refrigerate and otherwise save on the steep local dinners.

  • Sabrina Kirby is an absolute amazing host! I was last minute in making reservations, but she was able to accomodate me. Her home is kept in pristine condition and great if you'd like somewhere cozy to relax. I'd traveled alone and felt very comfortable and safe. I WILL be back to visit beautiful Bermuda & to see Ms. Kirby again. She has a wonderful heart and is a island socialite in her own right. She is extremely informative and knows any and everything there is to know about her island. it was a true pleasure to stay at your unit I am ever so greatful to have made such a connection. THANK YOU XOXOXO

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this flat. It is in a pretty bright pink building with other flats--so when you arrive it takes a few minutes to find which flat is yours. Very pretty with green grass, view of the blue water, flowers, etc. The flat itself was very comfortable and pleasant, and we were able to get on the wireless network after speaking with the owner after arrival. It might be good to confirm the wireless password before arrival with the owner and to make sure you know how to get in. The wireless worked very well, as did the TV. We had no problems with anything while we were there. The flat is in a quiet area. To get around and see the sights we rented scooters and rode the infamous Bermuda Bus. We loved Bermuda!
