The Space

A beautiful guest suite with private entrance, large bedroom, queen size bed with a very good mattress, and a full private bath with Jacuzzi Tub. The bedroom has French doors that overlook an enclosed backyard and woods. There is a wooded walking trail behind the house. It is a friendly neighborhood where we know most of the neighbors. Guests may watch TV or share a large flat screen TV, including Wii and Netflix for streaming movies. A washer and dryer are available and easily assessable, next to the guest suite. In the utility room we also have a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and a small refrigerator. Free secure wireless is available.

Our Home includes two English Golden Retriver's; Dayton is 4 years old and Bailey is a year and a half. We also have a mostly invisible cat (and who wouldn't blame her). The dogs are well-behaved but very friendly. We are social and enjoy meeting new people but can also give guests total privacy.

Our home is within minutes of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), MARC and Amtrak trains to DC, 15 minutes from the BWI Airport, and 20 minutes from downtown Baltimore. We are close to the Baltimore Beltway (I-695). We are also less than a mile from a major grocery store, pizzeria, and drug store. Other amenities are also close by.

This is an ideal setting for people with business meetings at or near the airport who want a homey setting, for guests attending graduations or other events at UMBC, or activities in the Baltimore or Washington, DC area.

Guest Access

While there is a private entrance to the suite guests are welcome to come upstairs for coffee in the morning or to just hang out with us. While we don't offer breakfast guests are welcome to forage in our fridge or pantry and coffee is always available with our kurig!

Interaction with Guests

We love interacting with guests but if privacy is desired that is fine with us. We have guests we rarely see and guests we welcome to talk with.

The Neighborhood

Our two street neighborhood is very friendy and safe. We have "happy hours" in various homes every Friday evening during the summer and have a block party in June every year. Guests are welcome to join us for any neighborhood events.

Getting around

There is a bus line within about 4 blocks that goes downtown Baltimore and we are close to Amtrak and MARC trains to DC.

  • At Earl and Lois's not even a day but it was still perfect for my first Airbnb experience. For anyone flying into the Baltimore area for a wedding like I was, it couldn't have been better. Close to BWI and close to wedding venue. Quiet and private and comfortable. Even tried the hot tub out, which worked fine and helped me make a decision about what kind of tub to get for our house rehab. Thanks!

  • I am so happy I decided to stay with Earl and Lois, instead of getting a hotel during my stay in Baltimore. Their house is about 15-20 mins from downtown Baltimore, which seemed like no drive at all. Their house is located right next to the highway and close to a grocery store. The room was very private, clean and comfortable. The room has a private entrance which made it easy to come and go at all hours. I liked that they provided a mini fridge, microwave and toaster over. As well as allowing us to do our laundry! Earl and Lois are very kind hearted people and generally cared about us enjoying our trip. If I return to Baltimore I will definitely try and stay with them again.

  • We had a great time staying with Earl and Lois. The communication was great. We arrived later than expected and they were there to greet us. They even had pancake batter and beverages prepared for us in the morning which was an unexpected surprise. Their dogs are beautiful and friendly. The room was as expected and we took walks in the lovely trail behind their house. The neighborhood is in a nice suburban area. We liked it because it was close to my relatives and close to the airport.

  • Earl, Lois, and their pups were wonderful hosts! The guest suite is beautiful and very private with a microwave, frig and toaster close-by. They always have the coffee machine available upstairs. They are available, but not intrusive. Perfect hosts! The area is a quiet, quaint Baltimore neighborhood.

One of my favorite features not mentioned is the walking, biking Rail Trail right behind their home. It's an awesome 1 to 2 mile walk, so badly needed when you eat too much on vacation.

  • We were able to kick our feet up and relax at Earl & Lois' place. Earl & Lois are gracious hosts, easy going and wonderful to stay with. The guest suite which is really quite nice and provides the right amount of privacy. We enjoyed the view from the breakfast/ family room area, their two beautiful & well behaved golden retrievers plus the walk along the Short Line RR trail right outside the backyard. This one is on our list to come back to. It's very close to the airport and in a nice quiet neighborhood.

  • A very pleasant stay. I got in late and Earl showed me to the guest suite. The guest suit was a clean, quiet, and looks exactly like the pictures. The bed was really comfortable too. They have two sweet dogs and a shy little cat, which makes it really feel like home. The WiFi worked great and the K-cup machine definitely made the early morning better. Earl was really friendly and accommodating, but they also gave me plenty of privacy, as I was there for a professional conference and needed to prepare my presentation from the minute I got in. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely want to stay here.

  • We had a very short stay but the room was quite comfortable.

  • Nice, really nice place. The suite is 100% as described and was well heated even in the coldest winter when the temperature dropped to 0°F (-18°C). Lois and Earl are the perfect hosts: welcoming, but not intrusive. They are interesting, open minded people. Their coffee machine saved my life more than once and their dogs are super friendly.I'll go there again.

  • I had another great, comfortable stay with Earl and Lois. As usual, they were very accommodating and helpful and I enjoyed chatting with them spending some time with their sweet dogs. I hope to see them again soon!

I am a retired social worker who is married with a daughter and a son and three grand-kids. My daughter is a Jr. at Frostburg State University and my wife a clinician at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After retiring I became a Personal Chef and had my own business for 5 years and now just cook at home and do occasional dinner parties. I love to travel and since my wife travels all over the globe I go with her when possible.
