Originally from New York City we settled in Northern Virginia where we raised our 2 sons. After finding a Cabin on a Mountain in the Shenandoah Valley we decided to 'Semi-Retire' in Beautiful Staunton. We purchased our 1844 home 'Witz End' in 2004, in 2009 Ellen earned Historic Staunton’s prestigious ‘Restoration of the Year’ after a catastrophic house fire. Ellen, a former REALTOR, owns the Staunton Antiques Center and The Artisans Loft on downtown Beverley Street. Ellen is an amateur photographer and Lou plays Native American Flute, we are major Foodies and our younger son's restaurant 'The Shack' (right here in Staunton) has been recognized by Esquire Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Travel & Leasure Magazine & in February 2020, earned 3 stars from Tom Seitsema , food critic for the Washington Post. Our older son is a musician and has studied Improv in Los Angeles and now lives in Staunton.
