Close to San Marco square, overlooking a canal only for "gondole" with views of the nearby Grand Canal.
Spacious rooms furnished with antiques and modern pieces. A cozy lounge for relaxing and a kitchen equipped for the continental breakfast.
Our b & b is located in the heart of Venice, close to Piazza San Marco, in a ancient building on the first floor with private entrance who overlooks on canal de le Ostreghe, nearby of Grand Canal, where it’s possible to see many gondolas and gondoliers singing,
It has three comfortable bedrooms (queen beds) all with ensuite bathroom, tastefully decorated, one of this with seating area, windows and a small balcony who overlooks on the canal. The guests share a cozy and large lounge where you can spend moments of relaxation and the kitchen for the continental breakfast prepared with croissant, jam, biscuits, cereals, coffee, tea, milk, juice and yogurt, also available to guests throughout the day.
In the Junior Suite that overlooks on the canal, breakfast is prepared on the table inside the room.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and heating, bed linen and towels. In the bathroom the hair dryer is available. Breakfast and daily maid service included.
No smoking b&b
Location: San Marco 2439 (Calle de le Ostreghe)
Waterboat stop: line 1, Santa Maria del Giglio (without bridges to do)
Important: From August 24, 2011 is obligatory the Tourist Tax of 3 euro per person per night to be paid cash locally.
The area is very beautiful and characteristic, between Campo S. Maria del Giglio and Calle XXII Marzo, where reside the most famous hotels in Venice and the exclusive shops of the city. A few steps to S. Mark Square, Rialto bridge and the Fenice Theatre and the most important churches and museums.
Nearby restaurants, pizzerias, bars or typical "wine bars" as well as craft shops and souvenir shops.
But if you leave the main street and turn into any “calletta” you will be in a succession of streets, bridges, squares and immerse you in a typical Venetian quiet with breathtaking views in an atmosphere where time seems to has stopped.
To go around to Venice or to go to the islands of Murano, Burano or Torcello, there are motorboats, ferries and waterbus which stops a few steps from our b & b. Also useful to reach Lido during the Venice Film Festival, rather than the Biennale at the Arsenale area, the exclusive Lido beaches or for who prefer the Alberoni beach free.
A waterbus stop is just a few steps from our residence (Gilgio stop line 1), and in the canal in front of us taxis and gondolas.
As an airbnb newbie, made this booking with trepidation. This was totally unfounded, as the stay was wonderful.
Immediate communication from Monica once the booking was made.
Very easy to get to apartment from Venice St Lucia train station - walk out station to pier E, board waterbus on line 1 for scenic ride, get off at Giglio, walk just over 100 m to the meeting point at Santa Maria del Giglio church, then few meters to apartment - effortless.
Apartment exactly as described - beautiful location with canal just outside.
We were able to organise to leave our luggage there till late the next day which allowed us a full additional day to enjoy Venice.
The flat was so well located, so close to gio glo waterbus station, and to the st macro square. Close to all the luxuries shops and restaurants. The junior suite is so beautiful with a little cute balcony and the toilet is modern the shower is nice. Even more, the owner gave us a extra room for free because it was available. It was really really nice of them. it definitely enhanced our Venice experience.
Pitch perfect accommodation for a trip to Venice, especially for a couple or even a bigger group. The apartment is gorgeous, most nicely decorated, and perfectly located as a hub to every place you might want to go in this ethereal concept of a city. The hosts are quite charming and helpful (Monica before the trip via mail, Gianni in person informing us about the approaching aqua alta) in a very distinguished way. Our stay was a dream, culminating in walking 200 m from "our home" to La Felice, to see and hear La Clemenza di Tito. We will not accept to stay anywhere else come our next visit!
A very comfortable place at a great location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gio Gio. Everything was as described. We would definitely stay there the next time we visit Venice. We did meet Gianni, who was very charming!
We really loved our stay at the B&B of Monica & Gianni. We stayed only 1 night but this is the place you want to check in for a week and feel you have your own little home in the centre of Venice. The room was very nicely decorated with a comfy bed and bathroom and all very clean. We really loved Venice in winter without all the summer tourist crowds, it was foggy and quiet and it felt very special to wander around the little streets and get lost. For the restaurants I would advise to ask for recommendations or check e.g. tripadvisor, it is easy to end up in a place which looks nice but has crappy food for tourists and moody waiters. (which happened to us). We got a recommendation via the B&B for restaurant 'Rosa Rossa" but it was closed unfortunately. We hope to be back in Venice and would definetely love to stay again da Monica & Gianni!
Our stay at Monica and Gianni was great!
They have a lovely place, extremely well located. Our room was very comfortable and the entire place has a charm on its own. Everything was available for us in the kitchen and things were very clean at all times. Gianni received us when we first got there and explained things around. Monica was away, but I must say she was excellent with us during the booking process, as I had mistakenly booked the wrong dates and needed to fix that.
The only thing we noticed was that the radiator and towel rack in our room were off during the night and on during the day. I imagine this has something to do with energy saving, but the rainy cold winter in Venice made me miss the heat when going to bed.
A nice cosy b&b close to San Marco with 3 rooms: a junior suite, which is a spacious room with windows to a small canal, a medium double room, and a small room which is more like a single room. The whole place is tasty and charming. Be aware, it's like a private home. All guests a sharing an entrance/kitchen/living room with 2 couches, tv, etc. There is no service aboard, you can reach Monica by phone, respectively her housekeeper. Having that in mind, you can have a classy stay for a reasonable price in venice.
Love love LOVED this place!
I have been to Venice before and thought 'meh', but this time around it was INCREDIBLE and I'm sure that is because of how perfect the accommodation was!
Janeline (our lovely and gracious host who picked us up from the boat stop at 10.30pm in the freezing cold with no complaints) made us feel very welcome. I only wish I could bring her on the rest of our trip!
The BnB could not be any more central, and the decor was 100% authentic Venice - PERFECTION! I would happily stay here again and find this accommodation VERY reasonably prices, especially given the location and fit out.
The second night we upgraded to the bigger room with the view and I could not be happier we did, worth every euro! Monica was also great to deal with over email.
Thank you so much for having us and we look forward to seeing you next time!
