Cheerful Budget Acco15m to S Mumbai

Apartment - Shared room · A-wing Odyssey, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400037, India

I have a small studio apartment in Central Mumbai where I stay as well. It has a hall where there is a large sofa cum bed which can accommodate 2 adults - this is what's on offer along with an exclusive bathroom for guests and use of the kitchen plus a self-service breakfast. Indian rotis can also be requested. There are also two shelves for storage.

My place is clean, cheerful, located in the geographical Centre of the city and fairly well connected to the older parts of the city in South Bombay. Via the new Eastern Freeway opened in June 2013 just next to my building, it's possible to go non-stop to South Mumbai (near VT/CST station) in just 15-20 minutes. South Mumbai is the older part of the city and is the most popular tourist area in the city with museums, historical architecture, famous sights etc.

What makes it unique is that although located in the central part of the city, it's a fairly newly developed area and therefore a bit cut off, with parks and open areas which are very rare in the city. All basic requirements are within easy walking distance and this is an ideal place if you want to experience both the Southern parts of Mumbai (art, culture, history) and Bandra (nightlife, cafes etc).

I will not pretend that this is the most comfortable accommodation you can get but this arrangement is ideal for short-stay budget travellers as Mumbai has no hostels and budget hotels are not only low quality but also often not very cheap. I also try and give my guests as much privacy and space as possible. Even though I reserve the right to have my own personal guests, I will ensure that they will not invade your privacy. Come here if you're looking for an informal experience and an easygoing host!

LOCATION - NEIGHBOURHOOD DESCRIPTION

There is a bus stop right downstairs and it is a 10-15 min taxi ride to four different local train stations, with one on each of the three different railway lines. There is also a bus that goes to South Mumbai.

The international airport is about half an hour away, depending on the time of day.

Via the new Eastern Freeway opened in June 2013 just next to my building, it's possible to go non-stop to South Mumbai (near VT/CST station) in barely 15-20 minutes.

Lower Parel and Bandra can be reached in half an hour without traffic. Of course, a lot depends on traffic in Mumbai!

Taxis are usually easily available near the building.

There are also a couple of parks (quite rare in Mumbai) close by.

MEALS
Self-service western breakfast. Indian rotis (bread shaped like pancakes) available on request.

Filtered and boiled water available for drinking.

You can also use the kitchen to cook your own meals.

AMENITIES
There is cable TV in the hall in front of the couch, an IMAX theatre nearby and pay-per-use gym, sauna and swimming pool downstairs.

Speedy wifi and use of laptop now available.

I am out most of the day and sometimes on weekends as well so when you contact me, please let me know your estimated time of arrival and departure. I am flexible about this as long as it's mutually convenient.

Pls feel free to ask me any questions! Also check out the House Rules before booking.

  • Anjali and Ani were exceptionally welcoming and friendly hosts. They helped us find our way in Mumbai for a few days, and are located very conveniently, 15 minutes from Colaba by taxi. Would definitely recommend!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Anjali she was friendly helpful but also gave us space. It was a very convenient place to stay (about 15mins taxi from centre of Mumbai) take the freeway option much cheaper and always ask for the metre! Anjali was great we should will stay there again if we ever go back. The area was very nice and safe also a good experience :)

  • Staying with Anjali was more than I could ever expect, for the best reasons. Not only she has a lovely and cosy home, as she hosts you like a friend. I feel at home, even there I was so far from mine. And for the first time in a huge city like Mumbai, she and her nice boyfriend made me feel so welcome and comfortable. Marvellous stay!

  • At Anjali's place I really felt like at home, Anjali and her boyfriend welcomed me as if I were a close friend!
They have been very kind and helpful, giving me all kind of information that I needed..the place is nice and cosy and I had a personal bathroom, only for me! Breakfast is included, with typical indian roti and Wadala is quite in the center, not too far from Colaba and other main districts. Highly recommended!

  • Despite not meeting Anjali during my stay (as she was traveling) I understood why she had so many positive reviews from others. The flat is extremely homely and Anjali very helpful and quick to respond to any queries. Her flat made me feel at home and I'm very happy to recommend it to visitors who are looking for a no-frills accommodation with a friendly host.

  • Anjali's accommodation was great! She made me feel welcome and was happy to offer advice in my 2.5 days in Mumbai. I would definitely choose to stay with her again.

  • Wonderful welcoming stay in Mumbai. Anjali was very helpful and her apartment was very comfortable.

    May 2013
  • The apartment was great, clean and spacious and ideal for what we needed. Anjali was a welcoming host and gave us plenty of room. The breakfasts were also good, fresh Indian bread and buttery scrambled eggs are always a good way to start the day. I would recommend the apartment to anyone coming to Mumbai. The wifi was useful and the location is easy to find for any taxi driver. This place is a little bit further out from central Mumbai but is well connected to public transport and much more homely than a hotel!

    April 2013
  • I came to India for the first time arriving nowhere else than Mumbai,
so it was great that I could ask Anjali anything beforehand and arrive very late at night. She was also helpful when I was there wanting to know about public transport and tickets etc. Everything was clean, also the water, which one needs a lot, and the cleaning woman was also very nice.

    March 2013
  • My stay with Anjali was a great experience. The apartment was clean and had my private bathroom (with great running hot water). As for Anjali, she is an absolutely great hostess. She was always concerned for my well being and available to answer any questions which I had, without being overbearing. I would definitely recommend Anjali as a local stay in Mumbai.
