At 0.8 miles the Annexe is just a short walk to the golden sands of Porthtowan beach and next to the beautiful wooded valley of Park Shady. The Annexe is part of a 200 year old Mine Count House situated at the top of the old Tywarnhayle Mine. Comfortable, unique with original features, charm and character yet with all the modern comforts you would expect.
The space
Ideal for individuals or couples though with the sofa bed it is possible to squeeze in an extra guest by advanced arrangement. There is a well equipped kitchen downstairs with oven, fridge freezer, toaster and microwave. The Annexe also has a built in washing machine and tumble dryer. Downstairs the double bedroom has a built in wardrobe. Upstairs the lounge with double sofa bed, TV, DVD player and French doors on to a small private decked terrace. There is a power shower wet room upstairs.
The private wooden decked terrace with table and chairs gets sun most of the day.
The Annexe is part of the old original cottage though the access and patio are completely private.
Outside there is parking for one car.
The annexe is approached up a steep private track.
We do have chickens and will put fresh eggs out for your arrival. There is tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and oil also supplied.
A car is definitely advisable.
Guest access
There is a lock box for the key code given on booking. The annexe is to the rear of the main house walk to the left of the house round the back of the main property and you will see the green entrance door to the lower level

The minimum stay at the Annexe is 2 nights.

These are the directions from Chiverton Cross Roundabout on the A30
• Take the B3277 to St Agnes.
• Almost immediately you get to another smaller roundabout: take the 3rd exit which is again the B3277 to St Agnes.
• After about 0.3 mile, at a staggered crossroads, turn left.
• After just 120 yards, turn right.
• After 1.4 miles you enter Mount Hawke 30mph zone.
• Keep going on that road round the edge of Mount Hawke (past shop on right and church on left, then straight over crossroads).
• Keep going out of Mount Hawke down the hill towards Porthtowan.
• About 0.4 mile after you’ve left Mount Hawke, you reach a T-junction: turn right towards Porthtowan.
• Go down the hill, round left-hand bend, then right-hand bend.
• Then as the road levels out at the bottom of the hill, turn right up the large, wide dusty track signposted Bridleway. Slow from there over the bumps.
• After about 20 yards, the track splits in two: take the higher track on the left.
• Go up the hill, slow at the top as there are chickens on the loose!
• You can park on the drive in front of the big tree.

The annexe is roughly a 20 minute walk each way from Mount Hawke and Porthtowan where you will find the popular Blue bar at ideal to catch the stunning sunsets. We have two good shops one at Mount Hawke one at Porthtowan short 20 minute pretty wooded walk or 3 minute drive. There are many stunning walks and bridleways all on the doorstep though the paths can be muddy in the winter so boots advisable.
We are a couple of miles from the stunning Bissoe trail a fantastic route through the old mining trail that leads to Devoran on the south coast.
The coast path can be accessed by a 30 minute steep climb and the picturesque Wheal Coates (of Poldark fame) is about an hour at slow pace.
