The apartment is located in a cosy neighbourhood.
Kevin is a sympathetic and helpful host. He called to check up on us.
The MTA is behind the corner. The apartment , building is completely renovated.
The kitchen had everything you need to make food
There are plenty of beach towels provided.
The apartment was very clean.
Wifi access was also working properly.
There was 1 small problem with Netflix. Kevin has this resolved immediately.
The space is sufficient for 4 people
We enjoyed our stay, thanks for your hospitality Kevin !
Dirk...lol, the forks and knives were in the draw, Enough for like ten people.
Dirk, I need my chocolates. I had other guest bring me chocolate from Belgium and the taste drove me nutts...lol. I have the shirts for your boys I'm sending a large instead of a medium, I hope that works for them. In Brooklyn most teens wear their shirts over-sized. Dirk, tell your family, thanks again for being great guests.
Kevin is an attentive host - kind and thoughtful. We arrived near midnight but he met us there happily with the keys and even supplied some bottled water in the fridge. He met us at our preferred checkout time without issue.
We stayed for 7 nights and along the way a few issues popped up - construction outside interrupted internet for a few hours, etc. But Kevin was prompt to address the concern and everything was hunky-dory.
I read all of the reviews for this listing and the space could use some clarification: Kevin is right that there are two bedrooms if you count the beds in the living room - a pull out couch and an optional inflatable double/queen mattress. We were 3 adults and 2 young kids, so we had an inflatable singe bed in the bedroom as well as the two in the living room. Kevin is also right that the inflatable mattresses are incredibly comfortable (for an inflatable bed) - and they are the fancy kind with the inflator controls attached so you can re-inflate if needed (which we did on day 4).
Roku with free pandora and netflix was a nice touch for the kids to relax and watch Mulan after an action packed day at the Natural History museum. The neighborhood was great! Right on the subway into manhatten - so easy for us to get to our conference, but also the museums, statue of liberty, central park, etc. Prospect park right across the street was wonderful! So peaceful and great play structures for the kiddos. There's an amazing pie shop down the street and plenty of groceries/restaurants/ice cream, etc. Parking was totally manageable - you may have to walk 3 blocks, but you are in NYC, you know? That's reasonable, I think.
Kitchen and bathroom were pretty well stocked with amenities. It's likely that no one actually lives there, so the amenities are more like what you'd find in a nice hotel room - shampoo and conditioner and soap, plenty of towels, flatware with plates and cups and bowls. Toaster oven, coffee pot, pans for the stove, some salt and pepper left over from other guests, etc. BUT no mixing bowls, muffin tins, etc that you might expect to find in someone's home.
Overall a very nice experience. No complaints, it's just worth knowing what to expect. The pictures aren't EXACTLY up to date, but no problematic differences - I think a different couch but nothing big. This was my first AirBnb stay, so I read a lot about what to expect, and Kevin made this stay match just about the best reports that are out there. Clean, big (enough), what you need is there and what you want is nearby.
Wow Lora, as usual I forgot to ask for a review as most guest do not leave one. Youre right that the place is a little better than the pictures let on. But I took pictures three times. I had a mixer and juicer but it seems like people just want to see the city and sleep comfortably so I use the juicer...lol. Lora it was a pleasure and rarely do you find a group that is very simple and easy to please. I appreciate the suggestion about explaining all NYC has to offer to your gues(s), but it was like 1:am in the morning...lol. Either way im am very glad you enjoyed your stay, Kevin.
Kevin was a lovely host. He accomodated my group's needs on short notice and was flexible to our limited accessibility by phone. The space was exactly what we needed plus a bit more. Thanks a bunch!
Me and some friends spent the Christmas and New Year periods, our stay was very good, everything exceeded our expectations, the apartment is good and is in a great location, a very beautiful place, Kevin was very attentive and comprehensive, received us very well, we hope to return to NY soon.
Our host, Kevin, was most gracious and welcoming. He went out of his way to meet us at the apartment, give us some tips about getting around in the area, and generally make us feel at home. The apartment is across the street from Prospect Park and a very short walk from the Botanic Garden and Prospect Park Zoo. Conveniently, there are subway stations on either end of the block, so getting around is very easy! The apartment is clean and spacious, with plenty of room for three or four people.
What Joanne loved about your listing:
Thank you, Kevin, for making us feel welcome in your apartment and for your kind offers of birthday cake, housewarming gift, and driving our luggage to the train station. Our trips to NY are always very packed, and we regret not having more time to socialize with you, but as a parent, I'm sure you understand that we center our trips around our son and whatever he wants to do. :)
What Joanne thought you could improve about the experience:
We had a wonderful time and have no complaints whatsoever!
Kevin - Thanks for the great review and of course you knew it was a pleasure hosting you and your family. I ate the Coffee ice-cream you left for me, it was great. I enjoyed your humor and your sons surprise when he learned that he could open the downstairs door through his Facebook. I hope I have the opportunity to host you again. Thanks for being great guests -Kevin
The complete translation - We are very happy , he was very attentive, even arrived a day late and there was no problem , even though it was impossible to tell . The neighborhood is very nice with a fantastic park right outside the door , public transportation within a five minute walk .

Our stay at Kevin residence was great! His hospitality and calling us on a daily basis to check in on us was a great feature. We will def come back to stay. We arrived pretty late to New York and he was there to greet us which was a plus for us.
Im sorry we didn't get to have breakfast and talk a little bit more about NYC and Cali, but you guys got in very late and woke just in time to take the taxi to the Airport. Your husband did try though (lol). You are blessed with a beautiful family and hopefully I will get to host you again (or you, me) in the future. Thanks Cristal for being great guest.

School Teacher, Therapeutic Counselor, former Social Worker and father to 6 kids, 3 are Police officers, 1 is an F.B.I. agent, and 1 is just spoiled, but I didnt do it. Im a family man and community worker / recreational event organizer. Love to have fun, very much a peoples person. Enjoy seeing people having fun. I love kids and making long lasting friendships/ relationships. I'm a very good cook. I enjoy cooking and eating. I like exercising regularly and training people on how to condition their bodies. I have a full entertainment system so now I'm more of a family (stay in) man. I volunteer youth empowerment and personal development programs services at a local recreation center. Don't find the time to travel much anymore or as much as I use to, but favorite place was the Bahamas. When my oldest son was in the military, I often found my home to be the place for five or six of his friends to stay, for the holidays. I would take guys that never been to NYC, on my famous tours. I would make them a big breakfast to start the morning. Now I have kids from all over the U.S. that calls me pops.
