The Space

I'm on a computer-free holiday until Friday 25th April 2014, and I won't be checking my reservations until then. Please contact me from Friday 25th if you want to make a booking. Thanks!

Newly built passive solar eco house in beautiful rural area with sea views. Huge windows, 3 acres, 10 minutes walk to beaches. Spacious simple furnishing. Solar hot water. Owned by artist.

Mainly I rent out the granny flat, attached to the main house (which I live in). The granny flat is a simple 1 up, 1 down:

Downstairs is a small kitchen living room with a sofa bed, and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs is a small bedroom with double futon.
There is a ladder stairs up to the bedroom.
The in-law has large windows overlooking the sea.
There is WiFi.

Price quoted is for the granny flat.

Occassionally the main house is available too (sleeps 6). Please contact me for dates and rates.

The nearest village is a 15 minute cycle/4 minute drive and there is internet there too. Also good resturants and cafes, healthfood shop and yoga centre. Sailing and kyaaking available nearby.

Please note: I am a passionate environmentalist. I am trying to live LIGHTLY on the earth, and my home reflects that. My home is very clean and beautiful but SIMPLE. If you care about sustainability and beautiful natural places you'll love it!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • It was such a lovely apartment with a really nice view. Tara was very helpful by e-mail and phone. She left us a map to the near beach. We visted small towns nearby and walked around at Mizens head and Sheepshead, which was truly beautiful. We would definitely rent the house again when we pay Ireland another visit.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Ballydehob in August 2010. It is such a lovely piece of earth, a beautiful modern eco-house with all facilities you need. If you love a quiet place with lots of nature around you, then it is the right location to enjoy. We were only in the smaller part of the house, the granny-flat which was very clean, tidy and just perfect for a couple like us. Thanks to Tara and Margrete for the great hospitality!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ballydehob, though we didn't actually meet Tara, or stay in the main house.
Due to a late booking, we were in the granny flat, which has one room downstairs with an attic bedroom up a ladder above.
The flat was clean & simple & very quiet. The bed was comfortable, with lovely linen & the water was hot. The cooking facilities were simple but adequate.
The view is wonderful & Ballydehob is a great village in a fabulous corner of Ireland. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Tara's. The only reason for 4 not 5 stars is that I'm not sure the price should have been the same for a stay in the granny flat as for the whole house - but as I mentioned, it was a very late booking.
    P.S. Cosmo was great company.

  • This lovely house with the charming Granny flat is located in an area ouf outstanding beauty and has got a big, sunny garden with views to the sea.
Staying there has been absolutely lovely and Tara cared for us very well and even showed us the way to her `private´ little shelly beach! We´ll definetively come back there next time we´re in Ireland!
    Thank you so much!!
