Are you a lady travelling on your own and looking for a safe reliable place to stay in London? Are you a cosy couple looking for a romantic getaway that affords you wonderful space to be yourselves at a decent price? Or do you simply need a place with ample space to sleep up to four people including during the Olympics AND has Wi-Fi? My flat is suitable for all of the above and when you book it there is NO sharing with people you don't know ;-)
There is a minimum booking period of 3 nights but I've left my settings to allow for 1 night bookings for occasional left overs between lengthier bookings. Also please note that the base price ($100) is only for off season and sometimes for weekdays only bookings. The actual price can either be seen by typing in the check - in and out dates or clicking on the Calendar. Cleaning is free for bookings over 6 nights.
The flat can accommodate up to 4 adults or a family of 5 on beds and sofabeds. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a big sofa bed in the living room as shown in the pictures. If you key in 4 guests, airbnb will give a quote for all the 4 people. For e.g. 4 friends staying for a week in June 2012 would be just $50 per person per night! But if you are a couple then the price is only $150 a night for both of you! This is a luxury flat for a low price! On top of that it is even less expensive during low season months. And ofcourse it is more expensice during peak months of July-Aug. Please check my calendar for price!
If you want to experience living in a real London neighbourhood, this is one of the best area. The local shops, pubs and cafes are great (to top it up very reasonable price cafe, shops, restaurants are around as well as pricey once too).
It is 7 minutes’ walk from the famous Clapham Common (Public Park) which is buzzing with life and local people all year round. It is the best place to spend a few summer afternoons. There are a couple of local council (government) leisure facilities which could be used on a pay as you go basis. They are usually a few £ for each use which includes gym, clean and indoor warm swimming pool, racquet sports.
Less than 5 minutes’ walk to all the underground, train & bus routes. The buses are 24 hours.
It is located 5 minutes to underground station which can take you to central London (e.g. London Bridge, Bank, Embankment, Oxford circus and Leicester square) within 15-20 minutes. Buses and over ground trains also run frequently between my flat and all parts of London including central London. Additionally there are a couple of night buses which will bring you safely from central London if you fancy a late night out e.g. night clubs.
There are a lot of grocery stores e.g Sainsbury's, Tesco and M&S all within walking distance AND few £1 shops around (you will be surprise what you can get for a £1 in those shops:-)
Brixton (10 minutes walking) itself is a bit like a cool village within a large metropolis. It is a lively spot with many bars, restaurants, clubs, cinemas, cafes, markets and health food shops to name but a few. And if you value your food and the planet there is a great organic farmers market locally every Sunday! Brixton will give you a taste of the real London for those of you looking to go off the beaten tourist track into the local heart of this great city. If in doubt check out 'Brixton Village' market online and you will then know what I am talking about! It's even been written up in the New York Times.
This would suit anyone travelling through London who wants to see a bit of authentic London life with its pubs, bars, people and local living, and have wicked access to the west end and all the sights. Basically this is where the real Londoners live!
The flat has got everything you would need during your stay in London.
Amit is a great host! For some problems one week prior to the trip Amit contacted me for a change of apartment. The one we stayed was nearer to the station if a bit smaller. We were five adults in an apartment that was for 2, max 3 people or for a family of 2 adults and 2 children, but it was all really new and well kept. 3 of us had to sleep on air mattresses, but we arranged fine, the bathroom was ok, with a bath tube, and we had no problems with heating or hot water. The apartment also has a great flat TV that we enjoied! Amit is very friendly, answered to my million questions (about the apartment and about other things as well) before and during the trip in a matter of minutes, and on new year's eve (the day we arrived) also came back to the house in the evening because the pump for my mattress wasn't the right one! Overall a great experience, highly recommended!
Dear Marzia - Thank you very much for your kind words. I apologize I had to change your accommodation as the TV aerial of flat-I broke down due to the bad weather in London the previous few days. I couldn't get it fixed before the New Year's due to holidays. I am glad that you liked flat-IV and agree that it is more suitable for up to 4 people, Ideally 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults. I am also happy to mention that my latest addition flat-III is pretty big and can accommodate up to 5 adults. Again thank you for your generous review. Hope to see you again, Kind Regards - Amit Garg
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Ideal place to visit London, very close to the tube and very comfortable. Amit is very friendly. Certainly recur if I return to London
Great place to visit London, good connections to the city center, and Amit was a very helpful host.
Enjoyed stay in this flat, great location, comfortable to live in.
We had a pleasant stay at Amit's apartment. He was very quick to respond if any issue and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a rental car and he was able to get us permits for our 1 week stay at 10 pounds a day. Wifi was a big plus as my husband had to work a few mornings. Very close to the bus stations and underground and the local grocery store (Sainsbury's). And if you want to stay around the neighborhood there are plenty of pubs/restaurants to (email hidden) was not the same as the one showed in the picture but it worked fine. We had lots of luggage so taking it up to the 2nd floor was a bit of a chore but overall good stay. Thanks!
Amit's place is great, clean and modern. Location is awesome, everything is within walking distance and the metro, train and bus are just 5 min away. It was easy to get there from the airport as well thus saving at-least $70. The host was happy to give me tips about museums and places to eat. The bed was very comfortable, everything in there is carefully picked and designed to comfort. Although there were a lot of Bars and restaurants on the high street the flat it-self is on a peaceful residential street thus provided a very nice sleep after a busy day. I must also mention that Amit is an exceptional host as he made sure twice that I had everything I needed for a comfy stay. I was able to talk to him when I needed to. Although the TV was different from the pictures it worked perfectly and of-course high speed free internet. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend this apartment. Thank you Amit and Neha - Rahul
This place is very close to the North Clapham station so transport was very easy. The place did not quite look like the photo's, I think a lot of things had been removed such as decoration and the TV was an older TV rather then the one in the photo's. Overall it was good for what we needed and Amit was plesent.
I stayed at Amit's one bedroom flat over the Jubilee weekend.
I was initially undecided about leaving a review but on second thoughts
I decided that i will state the facts about my experience and leave the readers to decide.
1. Very pleasant host
3. Easily contactable and quick to respond/address any issues
4. Very reasonable
1. Unresolved dispute over the cost of my stay, the host offered me a reduced cost of £335( not including airbnb fees) for 5 days, but i was charged £345 + airbnb fees. He promised to return the difference on my arrival but then told me the error was due to currency conversion
2. Sanitary wrappings and waste from previous guests not emptied from bin in toilet
3. Not heating/hot water for my last 2 nights. Boiler kept displaying a fault. I had to check in to a hotel for my last day. Host offered me £25 for (website hidden) remote faulty, host needed 3 visits to address the issue.
My listing is in USD. I casually converted £335 to USD, quoted the price in £££ to the guest and changed the $$$ number in my listing. Airbnb might have used a slightly different x-rate or a mark-up just like credit cards and hence the difference of £10. Guest forgot to mention that not only the price was reduced for him but he was also provided with a free parking permit for his BMW.
The guest just left me a text message about the boiler around midnight on the last night of his stay which I saw in the morning and tried to resolve it immidiately. Unfortunately the guest was checking out and didn't agree to my resolution. If he had called me (even at midnight) or notified the issue to me the very first time when there was no hot water I'd have fixed it immediately. It was just a smalll error which took me 30 seconds to fix.
Yes, I made 3 trips in rain to make sure that the guest have proper access to TV as it was an important TV day. In the end when I couldn't fix the remote I gave him my personal remote!
I've also asked my cleaner to make sure that she empty all the bins before every check-in.
Luxury might be a bit of a stretch, but it was a very nice apartment, such a great location, and Amit was incredibly helpful throughout. And it was cheaper than the cheapest Travel Lodge I could find.
