About This Listing
Wee cozy backyard guest cabin with private entrance in a darling vintage Santa Rosa neighborhood. Fantastic access to the area's wineries, parks, and wonderful bars & restaurants. Shared bathroom and kitchen in the main house, with use of our cute outdoor space and BBQ, if you'd like. Kid friendly!
Our backyard guest house tiny and sweet. It is perfect for a couple, but there's just enough room for an air mattress and/or Pack & Play if you're traveling with small kids. It's surrounded by roses and fruit trees, and our neighborhood is very safe & quiet. You're welcome to store bikes in our garage or under the covered patio. There is a private entrance, so you're welcome to come and go as you please. We've got two friendly dogs, but the smaller one has become fearful of other dogs, so we're sorry we can't accommodate your furry friends any longer. It can get a bit chilly at night, but there'(email hidden) heater and an electric blanket on the bed to keep you nice and cozy.
There's a full kitchen and bath in the main house, as well as a washer & dryer. There is no bathroom in the guest house itself- you'll be sharing the bathroom with us in the main house, but we've also got a nifty camp toilet you may place in the room for emergencies, if you'd like. There's even a handy privacy screen. :) You're welcome to use the Weber BBQ, pick figs from the giant fig tree, and to hang out in the patio lounge we've affectionately named the "Officers' Club." There's no TV in the cottage, (we like it that way!), but you do get the Wireless internet signal.
Interaction with Guests
We're here if you need us, but we'll also give you your space and privacy. We're new to the area and love to eat & drink, so are happy to share all our recent culinary and winery discoveries with you. I think we're a pretty fun family, but I might be a teeny bit biased. We have two busy little boys; we will do our best to keep them out of your hair, but I'm unable to make promises. They're pretty curious about our guests, and the bigger boy is a master question-asker. If you find preschool-level interrogation more annoying than charming, this might not be the place for you. Cocktail hour in the Officers' Club starts at 5 p.m. on Fridays, and of course you are welcome to join us. Jason is a top-notch bartender, I must say. :)
Our home is on a quiet street in a lovely, classic Santa Rosa neighborhood. Most of the homes were built in the 1930s, and retain their vintage charm. There is easy access to dozens of wineries, including those along the lovely Valley of the Moon highway, and three huge parks with lakes and hiking paths within a few minutes' drive. Downtown is just a quick five minutes away, and is packed with great shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms.
There is a main thoroughfare close by with several bus routes, and Santa Rosa is a very bike-friendly community.
Just...be nice, you know? Please don't smoke, or litter, or be mean to the animals. And if you're going to have guests over, we'd appreciate if they were of the non-creepy variety. We're cool with some general festive kibbitzing, but please save your Led Zeppelin-esque shenanigans for the Hollywood Hilton or something.
Annie made us feel very welcome and her husband and boys were a delight. They even invited us to their weekly cocktails in the garden which was fun. The cabin was cozy and really quiet and Annie kindly let us use the kitchen to cook loads of food!
Annie was very welcoming ~ I appreciated her help in getting me settled. The neighborhood is lovely. I was able to park on the street in front of the house and felt safe even getting in late and leaving before dawn. It was perfect for me alone but the bed would have been pretty small for my husband and I to have shared. Had it had been clear that the bathroom was a short trip outside the little house and into the main house, I probably would not have decided to stay here ~ as it was, it turned out OK but in the winter or the rain I would have felt differently. Annie made coffee and a snack for my 5:30am departure ~ very thoughtful and kind.
Hi Debra! It was a pleasure to host you, and I hope you got home safely. I'm sorry you were surprised by the bathroom situation! The fact that it is a shared bath in the main house, and not the cabin, is actually noted several times throughout the listing description, including in the very first paragraph. :) Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review- we really appreciate it!
Annie and her family were very friendly and welcoming. The cabin was set up with everything we needed including towels and a coffee maker. It was nice for an overnight stay and we would highly recommend it for anyone looking to stay in the Santa Rosa area.
Annie and Jason greeted us at the door. They gave us a tour of their darling home. We felt so welcome and comfortable. The little room we stayed in was so cosy. And the bed was beyond comfortable! But.... Our favorite feature was the inflatable moose that hung on the wall. It was icing on the cake. We would totally stay again!
This is my second time staying in Annie's little cottage room. I love the privacy, the cute cabin-y furnishings, and her fun and enthusiastic family. I will probably book again. Annie's place is close enough to downtown to be convenient and far enough away for quiet. Annie gave me a great recommendation for an art house movie theater only 5-10 minutes away.
