Located in the heart of Amsterdam but away from the red light district noise, on a quiet and beautiful canal, the flat is your ideal nest for a couple or a single person.

Well furnished and very cosy, you will feel like home in every season, with a charming view on the canal. Every rooms have a full amount of light due to the windows during the day. All the equipment you need is inside the flat* and even more with a real sound installation to link you iPod, iPhone or other sound devices to add some music to your experience.

Grocery stores and cool places to eat/drink/visit are just few meters away to live like a real local Amsterdammer. You can even sweat in the sport center (FIT FOR FREE) on the same canal.

By short walk distance you can access all the spots you need to see (Spui square, De Pijp, Museum District, "9 Straats" (Streets) shopping district, Leidseplein nightlife area etc.). Tramway and bus stations are also very close to the apartment (less than 5mins walk).

Note That flexibility in check-in/out could be possible on (website hidden) : we need to have a total confidence with the hosts to keep The Nest always beautiful and cosy, welcome home ! The apartment has also a strictly NO SMOKING policy.

* kitchen : oven, microwave, fridge (ONLY FRIDGE), boiler, dishwasher, washing machine (ONLY FOLD OUT DRIYER)..
* living room : sound amplifier, radio tuner...

ps 2 :

  • Never got to meet Sami personally, but her was prompt with instructions and a call back when we had trouble reaching his assistant by phone (she was very nice in person). The apartment is large enough but the toilet is in a very small space (at 5'10" I could just fit in). Location is good but be aware there is bar/café next door and expect some noise until about 1am. Washer and dryer were much appreciated.

  • The Nest is a really nice place to stay. Staying there feels like being a local living in one of the most centrally located but quieter areas of Amsterdam. The Jordaan area is so nice to walk around and just discover little cafés and shops. We walked everywhere from there... centrum, museums, etc... The cafe shop right on the corner is really sweet and great place to start or end your day. There is no dedicated wifi, at least while we stayed there. The cafe wifi comes in if you hang out near the window in the living room. The place is light and airy, and has all the makings of a nice comfortable apartment, modern kitchen, washer and dryer. Note the washroom is off the kitchen. And the toilet closet is off the hall and very small, need to keep door open. Best for couples or very very close friends. For the price I suspect you can't find as nice and comfortable place to stay in Amsterdam. Sammy was flexible about check in and check out time since no one was checking in the day we departed. His friend who met us and arranged the entrance was sweet and very easy to work with too. Thanks Sammy for giving us a place to call home while in town.

  • The Nest is a good base in Jordaan, linked by several tram lines and within walking distance to much that Amsterdam has to offer. Checking in with Paulien was easy.

As mentioned in other reviews, the apartment has no internet access; for a city-break this is pretty inconvenient, when it comes to researching opening times/restaurants/transport etc. We were told to connect to the wifi from the cafe across the street but this did not work on any device, at any point. My feeling is that the apartment is not cheap, for this price I would expect to have complimentary/functioning wifi - you certainly would in a hotel of equivalent cost.

Also worth noting: if you are staying on a Friday/Saturday night, there will be a lot of noise from the cafe, even past 1am (even up to 3.30am one night we were there). Bring earplugs!

  • The Nest is a wonderful place. The flat doesn't miss anything, and the style of its decoration and furniture is superb. The view is a dream made true. Weather was perfect when I was there and all the living room was filled with the colors of the sun from sunrise to sunset, its rays dancing on the calm waves of the canal. Also, the location is the best place we could dream of to discover Amsterdam. Jordaan it's the nicest district in Amsterdam and the Nest is in the nicest part of it. You could spend your holiday in it without feeling the need to explore anything more of the city. Anyway, the Nest is at a short walking distance from all the major points of interest of Amsterdam, so it's very easy to reach either the many museums or the very city centre. We had to leave the apartment on King's Day, when all the city centre was closed to public trasport. Although we were in the very hearth of the celebrations, the apartment is strategically located close to the last canal that defines a sort of boundary of the city centre, so we could go to airport by waiting for the tram as usual at our bus stop close to home. A thing that should be improved, anyway, and that I consider a MUST, not a option, is the toilet. As in some European countries, it's separated from the bathroom, which may be good (one can take a shower while the other is in the toilet). The problem is that the toilet is very small and you can't sit if the door is completely closed. To gain some more space it was installed a sort of hook to the door to keep it closed "but not so closed" as with the lock. Even so, there was no enough space to sit comfortably. To poop at the Nest may require acrobatic skills or at least a level of intimacy and collaboration with the rest of guests which should be taken into account before booking. Luckily, I think it has an easy solution. It would be sufficient to put the WC oblique to the door, on a diagonal, pointing from one corner to the other corner instead of from the wall to the door. This would give more space to our legs and feet. Said that, the Nest is a place where I will certainly came back.

  • Our stay at The Nest was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to organise a check in time, and Samy's friend who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The flat is delightful and in a perfect spot for strolling around and enjoying the beautiful city. Nice and close to lots of good bars, cafes and restaurants, but quiet and away from the seedy part of town, which suited us perfectly. Definitely recommend staying here.

  • We had a very pleasant stay in Samy's Amsterdam nest - granted Samy himself was not there, but that was never a problem.
The appartement is perfectly located to get a good feel of Amsterdam - close to the center but not too close. It is highly recommended to rent bicycles if you can. It seems all streets have separate bike paths.
