Interaction with Guests
Guests will be greeted by our property manager.
We were contacted early on by Wolfgang and the woman due to meet us to show us around our property. Both were welcoming and helpful. The person who we were told would be meeting us was then unavailable, therefore the welcome process involved a quick tour and handover of keys. We were told that the property was fine for children, and in our welcome tour were told that we actually had use of a DVD player for the three year old staying with us despite the TV not having an aerial. This turned out to be false as the large screened TV, and all electronic goods on display were without power cables and unusable. Further to this, the steep stone steps leading to the house, the low windows on the second and third floor, the loose electrical sockets on the walls and the open tread staircase (with long drop below) and no handrail make the property fairly lethal for a young child.
Practicality wise, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment (although the microwave did ignite the first time we used it) however many of the cupboards and drawers were labelled private and thus there was not much space for purchasing and storing food for ourselves - a necessity seeing as the restaurants in the village were either shutting down or only open 2 days a week. Even the fridge was half full of the owners chocolates and drinks.
The property has been changed somewhat from the pictures used online - it now has single beds where one of the doubles used to be, and one of the rooms we didn't see at all in the property now. There are no light fittings upstairs, with lightbulbs hanging from the ceilings - which doesn't look too great but is functional. That said, the property is comfortable for adults and well positioned for touring the area. The village is pretty, and the surrounding areas are wonderful to explore. Vineyards in one direction, mountains in others, rivers with river beaches, and the coast with beautiful marinas and beaches an hour away too.
All in all, this property needs a little work doing on it but is comfortable for older children and adults. The bedrooms are comfortable, the lounge is lovely, the outdoor space is nice for the evenings, and the position on the narrow medieval alley is captivating.
We have rated this property lowly due to it not being suitable for children/families as described. The property has only one bathroom (which needs regrouting and refurbishing and the mixer needs replacing as the tap doesn't work - also the only way of removing the plug from bath after use is to use a toilet plunger), too many steps for little legs, and for young children needs to have safety devices on the windows.
