We had a great time staying at Fabienne's place. It's walkable from Antwerp's Central Rail Station, which is one if the most beautiful train stations in the world! We bought an Antwerp City Card, which offers free access to all buses and trams - and this apartment was perfectly situated to hop on public transport and explore the city. The park nearby is lovely, and on the other side of it is a lot of good restaurants. There you can find Gazette, which is a bar/restaurant where I had the best steak of my life! There are other wonderful cafes over there, as well.
The apartment is on a busy street, so it was a bit loud during the day and into the evening. It got much quieter at night, though. Also, the man who maintains the building during the day smokes cigarettes in the hallway, and you can really smell it in the apartment when he does. He doesn't really stop when you ask him, even after he got yelled at by one of the neighbors! That said, he's only there during the day, and we were gone all day exploring, so it wasn't a big deal (and definitely not Fabienne's fault.) The smoke smell doesn't linger in the apartment when he's gone, thankfully.
The pictures do not do it justice! This is a beautiful apartment, and it was very nice to come home to it at the end of a day of exploring. Fabienne is very nice and accommodating. I recommend staying here!
Fabienne is a great host. We got a little lost, and she patiently talked me thru directions to her place. The apartment is within walking distance of the Antwerp rail station. It is on the first floor with large windows facing the street with some of the traffic sounds making their way into the apartment. The place is just as pictured. Cozy, but accommodates separate space for two individuals. There's a king sized bed plus a cot available. A big plus is the washer!
Lekker dicht bij de snelweg, toplocatie. Mooi park erbij. Simpel, maar top! En helemaal qua prijs. Top weekend gehad!
Het appartement was ook heerlijk schoon. De binnenkomst van de flat had een raar luchtje maar daar moet je je dus niet door af laten schrikken!
Fabienne was very patient with me after I ended up getting there much later than I expected, mostly because of my fault. She was very nice and explained everything I needed to know. It's a nice apartment, good location. The only problem is that I'm a light sleeper and since it's on a somewhat big street, the traffic sounds could be heard early in the morning. Worse, one of the neighbors sounded like s/he was moving furniture at 6 in the morning, making the most horrible screeching sounds, which woke me up.
We had a great stay at Fabienne's place. She was very accommodating and eager to show us where we could find the best architecture. The apartment is cosy and comfortable. It has everything you need. It is close to the city bikes which we used everyday to see the city.
Fabienne's place was wonderful and very centrally located. She met us at the train station and very thoroughly not just what to see in Antwerp but also how to get to other cities in Belgium and what to see there. The place was very comfortable but also on a main street so you trade off the convenience with some minor noise. All in all this was not too noticeable.
I have to agree some of the previous reviews that this place looks better in person than in pictures. It is quite spacious and I would recommend staying here if you come to my favourite city in Belgium!
I am Fabienne, 51 years old and I live with my son and my two lovely cats in Izegem, which is at about 100 km from Antwerp. I also have two daughters but they are not living at home anymore. My son is studying in Gent.
I like to travel (I am fond of Italy) because I like to meet people and foreign cultures,
I graduated as a translator (English/Italian/Dutch) but that was a long time ago... And that's where Antwerp comes in! As a student I spent 4 years in Antwerp at the Katholieke Vlaamse Hogeschool, which is now Lessius.
Come and share my passion for this lovely city! I'm sure you'll love its diversity! Wether you like history, the night life, culture (such as theatre, concerts etc.) or simply shopping, you'll find it here !
