Haarlem is a beautiful cobble-stoned city, 15 minutes by train from the centre of Amsterdam (with trains leaving every 10-15 minutes) and with a direct connection to Schiphol airport. The popular beach village of Zandvoort is also only 15 minutes by train from the city centre and Haarlem is very central for day trips throughout the Netherlands with excellent road and train systems and extensive bicycle routes.
Haarlem, the provinical capital of North Holland, is located on the banks of the Spaarne river and is a relaxed city, full of picturesque canals, a maze of narrow medieval streets, hidden gardens, quality restaurants and many of the best dutch museums.
A one minute walk from the house will lead you to ‘Kleine Houtstraat’, a pretty boutique shopping street voted to be the best in The Netherlands many times.
The city also boasts many great restaurants and bars and this historical beer brewing centre has a lively culture and active nightlife.
Haarlem is perfect for a romantic getaway as well as partygoers and makes an excellent base for visitors to Amsterdam and other surrounding areas, as well as being a great destination in itself, with everything you could want at your doorstep.
Buses and trains are just a short walk from the house. The neighbourhood is quiet and Haarlem is a safe city to walk at night time. Bicycles are also available to hire within the city, however the house is very central and accessible to the city by foot.

Rudy and Bea
The Charming House experience was good from the start, with quick response and information.
Rudy and Bea's home is very cozy, warm and clean. It also has a garden, which this time due to the cold weather we couldnt make the most of it.
On arrival they welcome you with drinks, which is a plus :) and all instructions of how things work in the house are clearly explained.
Haarlem was a discovery for us and would recommend to stay there is you are planning to visit Amsterdam as its only 15 min by train. Coming back to this charming house in charming Haarlem after a long day in Amsterdam makes a big difference. In terms of parking, there is free parking just 5 minute walk from the house.
In summary, highly recommended
The nice little house is located in the centre of Haarlem, so we could walk through the city without any problems.
It was always easy to contact Rudy and Bea - they were really nice.
It was our first trip to Haarlem and hopefully there will be more... :-)
Very nice house, clean and very cozy (gezellig)..Haarlem is beautiful, nice and luckily still relatively unknown!!
Rudy was a great host, he replied to all e-mails within 24h with all the relevant information. We did not get to meet him but the house is sprinkled with little informational notes that show where everything is and how it works. The house itself is very central and cozy with a great little garden in the back.
Would definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Harleem.
We're so happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay here in Haarlem. We continue to improve things and have added a house guidebook and manuals as well since your stay. We would appreciate it if you have the time to leave a TA review for us as well. Look forward to hosting you again in the future!
Best place to stay when visiting Haarlem/Amsterdam. This really is a charming cottage. There was plenty of space for the three of us in this beautifully renovated house. We loved everything about it. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen were lovely and modern, and we loved the Dutch staircase... Everything was very clean and tastefully decorated.
Our host Rudy and Bea were excellent, they even came to meet us at the train station to show us the way.
Haarlem is such a good place to stay, not as 'touristy' as Amsterdam but just as beautiful and so much easier to explore, with Amsterdam itself only a short train/bus ride away... there is so much more bang for your buck to base yourself here, and if you do be sure to stay with Rudy and Bea... We'll be back!!!
Thank you for sharing your charming cottage with us. :)
