My girlfriend and I stayed at Koh's place for a few days while we were in San Francisco. The apartment is really spacious and well-furnished and is located just a few blocks from the Hayes Valley area, which is really convenient. The kitchen is well-stocked, and we could have easily cooked a meal here. (did not have a microwave however) The couch is extremely comfortable.
Our only complaint is that there wasn't much privacy from the apartment above; we could hear footsteps and faucets and felt like we were basically in the same room as them when we woke up in the morning. If privacy is a priority for you, this probably isn't the best place to stay.
Koh's apartment provides a great way to experience San Francisco like you live there. The one bedroom flat is everything that you'd expect in a San Francisco victorian building -- high ceilings, wood floors, limited water pressure, and that ever-present San Francisco chill in the air. In all, the neighborhood seemed reasonably safe and was generally quiet at night unlike the noise in the touristy areas downtown. San Francisco is a walking city and Koh's place puts you in walking distance of some great, non-touristy areas of the city. This is probably not the right spot for you if you're used to staying in a luxury high-rise hotel, but if you want to connect with the true vibe of the city, her place is great.
I was in town on business and Koh's apartment was perfect for me. Centrally located and clean! The neighborhood was amazing for walks and seconds away from the bus! Koh was quick to respond to any inquiry. Perfect place for an SF getaway. An easy walk to Hayes valley or the mission. I will definitely stay again given the chance.
Koh's apartment is perfectly located! Only a couple of blocks to Alamo Square and restaurants & shops on Hayes Street. Mission is about a 15-20 min walk so really convenient. Another big plus is that there is free pariking in all surrounding blocks!
The apartment itself is on the ground floor. It has a very spacious living room. There is no actual bedroom - the double bed is placed in a "semi room" in front of a staircase that used to go up to the first floor (now a separate apartment). There is still room to put down your suitcase and use it as a normal bedroom area. The only thing I would have to say is that you can hear the people upstairs quite well.
All in all Koh was a great host. We had all the information we needed and there was no confusion. She was even kind enough to send me something I stupidly forgot in the apartment.
Cute quirky little basement apartment near Alamo Square. Friendly host. Mostly we just slept there. Bed could be a teensy bit firmer, but that might be me.
