This helps us both get to know a bit about each other and make sure we are a good match since you will be staying in my home.

I answer all messages promptly. Once you make a reservation, I will follow up a few days prior to your arrival with a detailed email containing lots and lots of additional information about the house and its amenities, parking the neighborhood and bus transportation.

On the day of your arrival I will be available and check in with you to make sure you got in ok. After that I am hands off. You are here for business or pleasure and to enjoy yourself. I trust that if you need something you will get in touch with me and I will be more than happy to help you with anything at all you may need to know or find about Pittsburgh. I’ve lived here 12 years :)

The Neighborhood

Welcome to the Southside Slopes and Mt. Oliver Boro. This is a quiet residential area of mostly working families and not an area where students live. It is a safe area with its own Police force that patrols regularly. Carson street on the Southside is a 10 minute car or bus ride away and provides dozens of different restaurants, bars, banking, groceries, and shopping in the Southside Works area.

Getting around

If you drive there is off street parking in the driveway right next to the front door of the house. The neighbourhood is walkable but on a hill so the walk is not flat but up and down some hills.

•10 mins to highways 376 and 279 which will take you anywhere throughout the city
•5-10 mins to Southside and Carson Street
•10-15 to Downtown
• 15-20 mins to Oakland, Shadyside and Squirrel hill
• 45 mins from the airport

Bus Access:

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Maggie was a great host. She showed me around her place and was very helpful with finding places to eat close by. Place was very neat and suited my needs. It was close to downtown and was an easy commute. Plan to stay again in the future.

  • She is just amazing!! The location you can't beat. I was needing to be flexible and coming and going as needed was not an issue. She makes it like home. Very modern up to date features and your privacy is respected completely. You need to bring nothing but your personal items and you, she has equipped the place with all the basics. I will be staying there again and again for sure!

  • I was in need of a month-long sublet while looking for housing in Pittsburgh, and Maggie's place was (website hidden). Oliver is close to the Southside Flats, and a reasonable drive from where I work in Shadyside. Maggie keeps a clean and friendly home. I wish we got to hang out more often, since I was busy with work, but our Post-it notes and text message correspondence worked out well. And ask her to teach you some salsa moves, I hear she's pretty good at it.

  • Maggie's house was very well-kept and felt like home. The room itself was immaculate with a comfortable bed. The kitchen has all the utensils you need for any cooking needs; it helped me greatly with my week-long stay. Maggie responds very quickly to texts and emails and is a very friendly host. It was definitely an enjoyable stay!

  • Great place! I was here for my cousins wedding and I took a 30 minute bus ride or a $10 taxi to downtown area a few times. Maggie was a great host, even though she was out of town on business, and provided good directions and the room was very comfortable. She was always very easy to reach if I had any questions or concerns.

    September 2013
  • I absolutely loved staying in Maggie's home. It was so comfortable, so clean, and stocked with all sorts of thoughtful things (extra toiletries) to take care of every need I had. It was quiet and I felt safe. Major bonus: back porch and beautiful back yard.

The house was slightly farther outside of town than I understood, which ultimately wasn't an issue at all - Maggie leaves thorough directions on taking the bus into town, and I just drove to central areas and parked my car to explore. But make no mistake: this is not a location from which you could really walk anywhere interesting.

Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Maggie herself, but the other traveler was delightful - and I think that reflects well on Maggie too! I would stay here again without hesitation.

  • Even though I didn't get to meet Maggie, she was very helpful and welcoming. She always made sure things were okay and checked in if I needed anything via text. The house is very comfortable and I couldn't have asked for more. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Pittsburgh :-)

  • Although Maggie is not around, her friend Bobbie helped me a lot. The room is cozy and quiet. Bathroom and kitchen are super clean. This place deserve more than you paid for.

    August 2013
  • Although Maggie wasn't around during the time we used the house, she was extremely thorough and communicated all details in advance to make sure our stay was comfortable. She also made sure to check in during our stay to make sure things were running smoothly - very easy to get in contact through text. The place was clean, had enough toiletries to stock a pharmacy and the bed was sufficient for a decent sleep. I would definitely come back here on my next visit to Pittsburgh!

    July 2013
  • Maggie's home was our first experience w/ Airbnb and since the beginning it has been such a pleasant experience. As a host Maggie was nice, communicative and beyond helpful. She was easy to contact and down-to-earth. We were unable to meet her during our stay since she was not there however through our experience we made a friend w/ the person staying in the other thank you Maggie for making that possible!
Her home is very cozy and warm! It has a beautiful back porch area which was peaceful to sit and enjoy the weather. We were lucky to have a car while we stayed there and everything was pretty close to get to. Great place to stay...wouldn't hestiant to stay there again! Thank you again Maggie!!!!

Hello! I'm a young professional in the city of Pittsburgh. I love to travel and just got back not long ago from a summer trip to Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. I also spent a month in Europe (Berlin, Poland (southwesten parts), Prague, Milan and Venice) in October 2011. I've found that staying in hostels instead of hotels and meeting fellow travelers is what really makes the experience when I've been abroad so I'm excited that a site like this exists and have really enjoyed opening my home to travelers as well as staying with a couple airbnbers when I've traveled. I speak Polish fluently as well as the standard English of course. I'm originally from Poland and moved to the US when I was young, but still have family there. I came to Pittsburgh to go to college at Pitt and have lived here ever since, about 12 years now so I know the city pretty well. I bought this house in the summer of 2008. I fell in love with salsa dancing about 7 years ago so if there's anything you want to know about the Pittsburgh Latin scene, I can probably tell you! I have worked in Oakland at the University and downtown so I know the bus system quite well also. I commuted by bus to both Oakland and Downtown from my home. Hosting: I host because I truly enjoy meeting people and having travelers in my home. My place is always clean, not annaly spotless, but clean. I own a vacuum cleaner and a toilet brush and know how to use them :) I'm willing to be as helpful as you need or to stay out of your way if that's what you prefer. I am traveling more for work and personal reasons these days so chances are we will not meet in person but I will have everything ready for you and I am always reachable by phone, text or email. I assume you will treat my home as if it were your own, clean up after yourself and leave your room as you found it when you check out. I'm more interested in helping interesting and trustworthy travelers than I am in just making a quick buck. Please ask me any questions and if you are unsure if something is available or ok with me, let's just talk it out! I also sometimes have out of town friends and/or other guests staying in my home so you would be sharing the common areas in the house with other friendly folks and expected to be tiddy and respectful towards them as well as I expect of them to act towards you :)
