Beautiful, private, art -filled, cottage situated on an acre in quiet gated subdivision. Peaceful with stunning views, only 20 minutes to the beach as well as airport and town. Quality linens and towels. Perfect place to get away to recenter and refresh. Enjoy our quiet, peaceful setting on what we like to call our gentleman's farm. The house is open concept with large living/dining space and large bedroom. Two full baths, one with outdoor shower. Holualoa is always 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the beach, which feels nice when it's hot outside.
We know some of the best massage therapists, acupuncturists, yoga & pilates instructors on the island. Juicing is available with an emphasis on wheatgrass and tropical fruits. We have beach chairs and towels, boogie boards, beach umbrellas and a surf board. Their is state land right behind the neighborhood with great hiking. We are the perfect blend of mountain and sea with easy access to both.
We love to interact with our guests, but understand people want their privacy. We are as available as you would like us to be. We have made friends all over the world who love the land of Aloha.
Our neighborhood is a farming community that is quiet, secure and above all beautiful. Kona coffee is the main crop, but we have fruit trees, milk goats, chickens that all contribute to the community.
Unfortunately, public transit does not service our area and a rental car is necessary.
Here on the farm, and on the Island we find ourselves in tune with the natural rhythms. It's very quiet here and we like it that way. We'd prefer no loud music after 8 pm and to treat our space as you would your own. We've got some great suggestions on where to go if you prefer to rock the night away. Your privacy, calm and comfort are our main goals when you stay with us.
My wife and I were looking for a quiet pied a terre on the Kona side and found the perfect cozy spot. The area is quiet, has a beautiful view of the bay from the sprawling patio and is close both to Kona and the various coffee estates.
Our 3-night stay ended up being very relaxing. Rod was great at providing us with all what we needed upfront in order to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the patio. The washer/dryer was a great addition as well. We used some of the beach gear one of the days. This is a great listing that we highly recommend.
This was a fantastic space for a holiday. Close to Kailua-Kona for shopping and eating, yet out of the hustle, in a private gated community. The view from the house was beautiful, and we chose to spend days there in between running around, just soaking up the atmosphere! The outside shower was gorgeous. The laundry facilities were of the highest quality, and we were able to freshen our clothes quickly and easily. The house is so spacious and comfortable. The kitchen, also, was well appointed. The bed was very comfy and huge. Two bathrooms and two showers (well three if you count the outside shower having a twin shower set up) made this a very user-friendly space!
We always felt secluded and private, despite Rod and Patrick's residence being just up the hill from this one. Rod was also a great source of info on things to see and do on Hawaii, and was unfailingly friendly and approachable. We felt completely at home.
A new experience for us of the Big Island - away from crowds and the tourist industry of Kona-Kailua but with easy access to other island destinations. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable with fabulous views, is well-furnished and private at about 1900' elevation. February nights were cool but a long-sleeved shirt was plenty. The location, new to us, is off a 2-lane road that circles the island, and is locally the old Kona Heritage Corridor, with original Kona coffee plantations on the slopes of Mauna Loa. Felt like old Hawaii, and neither touristy nor overdeveloped. Rod and Patrick are lovely hosts, know the area well, were helpful when needed and always respectful of our privacy. In spite of the location, it was easy to "go down the hill" for food shopping. The unpretentious little town of Hulualoa near the house has art galleries and a fine coffee shop/restaurant, "Huluakoa", best meal we had on Hawaii. Would absolutely stay with Rod and Patrick again.
Staying at Rod's place was wonderful. The house is beautiful and so is the setting, with flowers and fruit trees all around and the ocean in the distance. Located in the hills above Kona it's close enough to easily get to town and the beach yet far enough away from the commotion. Rod was great to deal with, he answered our questions quickly and his suggestions were spot on. We loved his music. It's obvious that this home is a labor of his love.
Beautiful home in an interesting location high above Kona. It was a great base for exploring up and down the coast. Rod left us in peace, which was exactly what we wanted. It does get chilly at night, so do bring some cozy clothes for those cool mornings.
The place was exactly
Ly as shown and described. A wonderfully, quiet getaway upcountry from the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona. Rod and Patrick were wonderful, totally hands off hosts. They have great tastes and it shows on how the place is apportioned.
We absolutely loved our stay and wished it was longer. It was comfortable and tranquil, well-located, and we had everything we needed and then some. Rod left us some wonderful fresh oranges (grown on property) and a few eggs from their chickens. We saw beautiful sunsets, introduced our 1-year old to the goats, and saw a wild turkey on our last day with 15 chicks!
