About This Listing
Beautiful, private, art -filled, cottage situated on an acre in quiet gated subdivision. Peaceful with stunning views, only 20 minutes to the beach as well as airport and town. Quality linens and towels. Perfect place to get away to recenter and refresh. Enjoy our quiet, peaceful setting on what we like to call our gentleman's farm. The house is open concept with large living/dining space and large bedroom. Two full baths, one with outdoor shower. Holualoa is always 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the beach, which feels nice when it's hot outside.
We know some of the best massage therapists, acupuncturists, yoga & pilates instructors on the island. Juicing is available with an emphasis on wheatgrass and tropical fruits. We have beach chairs and towels, boogie boards, beach umbrellas and a surf board. Their is state land right behind the neighborhood with great hiking. We are the perfect blend of mountain and sea with easy access to both.
We love to interact with our guests, but understand people want their privacy. We are as available as you would like us to be. We have made friends all over the world who love the land of Aloha.
Our neighborhood is a farming community that is quiet, secure and above all beautiful. Kona coffee is the main crop, but we have fruit trees, milk goats, chickens that all contribute to the community.
Unfortunately, public transit does not service our area and a rental car is necessary.
Here on the farm, and on the Island we find ourselves in tune with the natural rhythms. It's very quiet here and we like it that way. We'd prefer no loud music after 8 pm and to treat our space as you would your own. We've got some great suggestions on where to go if you prefer to rock the night away. Your privacy, calm and comfort are our main goals when you stay with us.
Rod and Patrick's place was so perfect. We wanted to stay in a place surrounded by green, far away from the city to be peaceful yet close enough to go do stuff, and this listing delivered all of it. It is beautiful inside and out, well decorated, well stocked with all the basic necessities that we would need on our vacation. Outside the house there were animals of all kinds happily wandering around, making it feel like a true oasis. They made the process to get there, get in, and get on with our trip super easy and they were really good communicators. They left us guidebooks that made planning the finer details of our trip so easy. Thanks Rod and Patrick for making our honeymoon trip such an amazing experience.
The house was well appointed, clean, and very relaxing. We all enjoyed being away from the bustle of the city very much; it was exactly what we were looking for. We also enjoyed using the beach gear that was provided- saving us a bunch on rentals and making our beach trips even better.
amazing, amazing, amazing. can't say enough nice things about rod and patrick, the property, the community. everything. just paradise!
My husband and I had the great privilege of staying in Rod and Patrick's beautiful space for 3 (glorious) days on our honeymoon, and we can't say enough about how wonderful that experience was! They've created such an oasis on their property, and we felt completely relaxed coming back to our haven each day. Just far enough from the city to feel private - and give you a taste of life as a local - but close enough to easily access everything in Kona.
As many people have shared, the pictures don't do this home justice! Rod's experience as an art collector really shows. The space is well designed and laid out, but also functional and comfortable! We loved making meals in their phenomenal, open kitchen while listening to all the night sounds. (Chirping not cars!)
Rod and Patrick have stocked the space with everything you need - extra beach towels, kitchen and pantry basics, fabulous local coffee, beach supplies and a cooler, and even an iPod filled w great music for when you're hanging out with the porch geckos.
We also got such great info from them about places to visit and little known resources across the island! They were always happy to answer any questions, and made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived. They really are as special as the incredible get-away they've created!
One of my favorite aspects was the menagerie of animals throughout their property - goats, chickens, dogs, Simba the a cat, Jackson Chameleons (if you can spot them!), wild turkeys, 1000 geckos, and so many birds. (For the record, none of these creatures were intrusive - we sought them out!) Plus, we picked fresh tangerines and oranges each morning right off the deck.
We were looking to get away from Ali'i Drive and have a special experience - something we wouldn't get in any hotel - and this was exactly that: one of a kind. We can't imagine staying anywhere else in Kona and will be back soon!
Lovely home, location, and hosts. Wouldn't hesitate to book again. Adored the goats on the property. There is a direct view of their pen from bedroom & they were a hoot to watch! Outdoor shower was a bonus. :)
