Ever wonder what it would be like to live in Hawaii? Wake up to ocean views in a plantation-style cottage surrounded by lush gardens in the middle of Kona coffee country in a quiet, residential neighborhood. All Hawaii Taxes included.

The space

Beautiful, private, art -filled, cottage situated on an acre in quiet gated subdivision. Peaceful with stunning views, only 20 minutes to the beach as well as airport and town. Quality linens and towels. Perfect place to get away to recenter and refresh. Enjoy our quiet, peaceful setting on what we like to call our gentleman's farm. The house is open concept with large living/dining space and large bedroom. Two full baths, one with outdoor shower. Holualoa is always 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the beach, which feels nice when it's hot outside.

Our neighborhood is a farming community that is quiet, secure and above all beautiful. Kona coffee is the main crop, but we have fruit trees, milk goats, chickens that all contribute to the community.

Guest access

We know some of the best massage therapists, acupuncturists, yoga & pilates instructors on the island. Juicing is available with an emphasis on wheatgrass and tropical fruits. We have beach chairs and towels, boogie boards, beach umbrellas and a surf board. Their is state land right behind the neighborhood with great hiking. We are the perfect blend of mountain and sea with easy access to both.

Interaction with guests

We love to interact with our guests, but understand people want their privacy. We are as available as you would like us to be. We have made friends all over the world who love the land of Aloha.

Here on the farm, and on the Island we find ourselves in tune with the natural rhythms. It's very quiet here and we like it that way. We'd prefer no loud music after 8 pm and to treat our space as you would your own. We've got some great suggestions on where to go if you prefer to rock the night away. Your privacy, calm and comfort are our main goals when you stay with us.

A magical farmhouse on paradise ... This property is really a gem. We had access to an entire guest home on a beautiful farm. The hosts were amazing. Holualoa is a special place to experience. It is central to all parts of the island. I highly recommend this property.

Rod's place has decent size for two, cozy and beautiful. Every morning we woke up to unrealistic sceneric view and bird's humming.. like heaven. Bed was comfort and bathroom was clean. We enjoyed sunset on the terrace listening birds and bugs instead of looking on smartphone and it was amazing. Would def recommand this place to friends!

Rod was so great with communicating and answering quickly. The house was adorable and private! My husband and i loved seeing the goats and chickens and having fresh Kona coffee there in the mornings and sleeping there was awesome since it is much cooler in the higher elevation. The no a.c. isn't a problem at all. The view is beautiful and we brought home dinner many nights to be able to enjoy the home more! It was a wonderful stay and we didn't want the week to end!

This place is truly a GEM in PARADISE. On our first visit to the Big Island, my boyfriend and I stayed at Rods place for 8 days. We were blown away by the seclusion and authentic tropical tranquility of the property which was exactly what we wanted - no cookie cutter condo in a heavily touristic area. The home is spacious, clean, airy and bright. The kitchen was perfect to prepare our meals and one of the best things is the huge lanai to enjoy our breakfast and local coffee on...what a treat!!Oh, and the fruit trees...delicious sun ripe oranges, grapefruit and limes to make our morning smoothies with...yum! Super comfy bed, good quality towels, outdoor shower and handy beach gear (snorkel, cooler, beach towels, chairs) made our trip that much better. Close to the artsy little town of Holualoa, and 20 min to Kailua-kona and the airport made it a convenient and easy spot to stay. Staying in the upcountry meant cooler temps, a huge plus at night for comfy sleeping. Rod was an excellent host, always quick to respond. He gave us a quick welcome then gave us all the privacy we wanted during our stay. He has a wonderful place and we wouldn't hesitate to at again on our next visit.

This was our second stay at Rod's incredible bungalow. Stay #1 was for a week, this stay was 2 weeks, next time, who knows? We don't know of a more relaxing, more beautiful place to rest, refresh, and recharge. Rod is a great host, johnny on the spot when you need him and invisible when you don't. This was our third trip to the Big Island and the genisis of the trip was wanting to stay here.

This place was just perfect. The pictures don't do the place justice....we were beyond thrilled with this great find. For those who like to be a little off the beaten path, staying up in the hills above Kona is your special place. You have so much room to roam around on Rod's property, and coming back to the area was refreshing after days down at the beach (our favorite kiddo beach was Kikaua Point State Park which was about a 20-25 minute drive). We found the place to be perfect for our 3yo and 11mo. Just the right amount of space. We loved watching the sunset... picking fresh oranges... and the outdoor shower. I can't recommend this place enough!! Thank you Rod!
